Death of man found in yard of Brandon home deemed suspicious
Brandon police were called to a home on the 600 block of Ninth Street, between McTavish and Van Horne avenues, just before 11:30 a.m. Thursday with a report of a dead person found in the yard of the residence.
On Friday morning, police tape and Brandon Community Cadet vehicles could be seen around a home on the block.
The circumstances and injuries the man had suffered led officers to deem his death suspicious, the Brandon Police Service said in a Friday news release.
Police identified him as a 35-year-old man, but said his name will not be released at this time.
The investigation into the man's death continues and an autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of death, Friday's release said. No further details are available, according to police.
They're asking anyone with information to contact police at 204-729-2345 or report a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 204-727-8477 (TIPS).

Police investigating dangerous driving in Sydney, N.S.
Police in Cape Breton are investigating a number of alleged dangerous driving incidents around Sydney. Police say officers were reopening George Street to traffic at around 10:15 p.m. Friday when several vehicles started revving their engines, spinning tires, and accelerating at high speeds where several hundred people had gathered. While attempting to block the crowd from a driver, police say a police vehicle was surrounded by a large crowd of people preventing the officer's movement. Additional officers responded, and police closed George and Pitt streets to traffic while they cleared the area. Police say they were later called to a Dooly's parking lot on Pitt Street around 10:45 p.m. where a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle that left the scene. The victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and police later located and seized the vehicle they believe was involved in the collision. Police are asking anyone with information on the incident to contact them at 902-563-5151. For more Nova Scotia news, visit our dedicated provincial page
