Pahalgam terror attack: People were being killed 10 minutes from where we stood, says Kolhapur survivor
Having spent a lovely afternoon in the picturesque Baisaran Valley on Tuesday, Sudhesh Saphale, his relatives and friends were preparing for the next adventure when gun-totting militants unleashed terror on tourists in Pahalgam.
"Seventeen of us had travelled to Kashmir. Pahalgam was our third stop. Around 2.30pm, we were just leaving the location when we heard the bullets. People were getting killed just 10 minutes away from where we stood. We rushed with our belongings and frantically started looking for our bus. We stayed in the bus till the evening as there was a total lockdown immediately after the attack," said Saphale, a contractor from Gargoti town in Kolhapur.
"We approached the local authorities, and they helped us get back to Srinagar. We then spoke to the Kolhapur collector. Subsequently, a Maharashtra official contacted us. We are now safe," said Saphale on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, 48 tourists from Solapur's Madha tehsil, who reached Kashmir on Tuesday, have now decided to return. Sarhad, a Pune-based NGO, is helping them return. "We were planning to visit Pahalgam after Gulmarg and Sonmarg. We faced many difficulties getting here. There was a road cave-in and a heavy traffic jam. That is why we reached Srinagar late on Tuesday. We have now decided to return," said Rahul Petkar, a resident of Madha.

FASTag mandatory for all vehicles entering Tirumala from August 15
TIRUPATI: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams has made FASTag, a Radio frequency identification technology (RFID) based system for e-toll collection in the prepaid digital format, mandatory for all vehicles entering Tirumala via the Alipiri tollgate from Aug 15. The Tirupati trust maintained that the decision was taken to provide better safety standards, prevention of overcrowding and transparent services to the devotees arriving in various vehicles at the Alipiri check point, FASTag will be made mandatory for the vehicles entering Tirumala from August 15 onwards. Clarifying that vehicles without FASTag will no longer be allowed to enter Tirumala from Aug 15, TTD sources added that a FASTag issuance center has also been set up at the Alipiri check point for the convenience of those who do not have FASTag for their vehicles. TTD's vigilance and security wing clarified that the security frisking mechanisms in place at the Alipiri tollgate will remain as they are irrespective of the mode of toll-collection. While there are twin pedestrian routes leading to Tirumala, Alipiri happens to be the only gateway to Tirumala as far as vehicular traffic is concerned. Piloted flights of UAE's flying taxi to start in the coming days
Archer Aviation, the US-based eVTOL aircraft manufacturer, has announced that piloted flights of its flying taxi service in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will start in the coming days. 'We expect the first piloted flight to take place within days. We've got a lot of confidence that we'll be in there soon,' Archer founder and CEO Adam Goldstein said on Monday during the investor call after the second quarter results. Goldstein expressed confidence that Archer remains on track to launch the flying taxi service later this year in the UAE. Archer had signed definitive agreements with Abu Dhabi Aviation and the Abu Dhabi Investment Office for the launch of the world's first flying taxi service. As part of the deal, Archer delivered its first Midnight aircraft to the UAE and commenced its flight test program in Abu Dhabi earlier this year. 'Over the next several months, firstly, we're going to deliver an aircraft to the UAE later this summer. We'll start by doing some incremental testing out there, like validating performance in the higher temperature environment. Then we'll move on to improving routes on our intent networks in Abu Dhabi on the broader UAE, and then ultimately working towards sharing passengers again with Abu Dhabi Aviation,' Goldstein said. Archer's Midnight aircraft is fully electric and emission-free and it is designed to handle short-haul urban journeys, such as airport-to-downtown commutes. It is expected to slash travel times, reduce road congestion and offer a quieter and sustainable transportation alternative. Canadian influencer couple dies in off-roading crash in British Columbia
Source: X An influencer couple from Canada, known for their adventurous off-road travel videos, has died after a tragic accident in the British Columbia Interior. According to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), Stacey Tourout and Matthew Yeomans, creators of the YouTube channel Toyota World Runners with over 200,000 subscribers, were killed on Thursday, August 7, 2025. Kaslo Search and Rescue (SAR) confirmed to CBC that they were called to the crash site at around 7:30 p.m. local time. Rescuers believe the pair lost control of their vehicle while navigating rough terrain in the mountains near Trout Lake, B.C. Just days before the accident, they had shared what would become their final YouTube video, titled "VANCOUVER ISLAND | The Off-Road Version," which showed them camping in remote Canadian wilderness and testing their Toyota trucks on challenging trails.
