‘Significant Hartford-area narcotics trafficker' charged on Wednesday
HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — A Hartford man was charged following a narcotics investigation involving the FBI, according to the U.S. Attorney's office.
Officials say 34-year-old Rafael Orlando Garcia was involved in controlled purchases of cocaine and fentanyl between February and April.
Norwich man accused of running drug factory
Garcia has a prior federal conviction and is known as a 'significant Hartford-area narcotics trafficker,' according to officials.
He was charged the following:
Possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute
Distribution of fentanyl
Possession of 40 grams or more of fentanyl
Distribution of 40 grams or more of fentanyl

A passenger called in a bomb threat to the flight company as part of a bungled attempt to get revenge for not being allowed to board a plane in Michigan, according to the United States Attorney's Office. Charles Robinson, 23, had missed his chance to board the airline's Flight 2145 in Detroit — and then got into an argument with the customer service agents when they wouldn't let him board late, according to officials. The passengers who had boarded the flight needed to deplane and the authorities brought in bomb sniffing dogs to look for explosives, prosecutors said. 'Making this kind of threat undermines our collective sense of security and wastes valuable law enforcement resources.' The FBI arrested Robinson at the airport when he tried to board another flight to Los Angeles, prosecutors said. Robinson, of Monroe, Michigan, was arrested on a criminal complaint for reporting a fake bomb threat for a flight, according to federal prosecutors. Police needed to clear a plane and search for explosives after federal officials said a disgruntled passenger called in a fake bomb threat. FOX 2 Detroit During the call reporting the fake bomb threat, Robinson allegedly said he was calling about Flight 2145 because he had information about that flight, according to prosecutors. Advertisement 'There's gonna be someone who's gonna try to blow up the airport,' he said, according to prosecutors. 'There's gonna be someone that's gonna try to blow up that flight, 2145.' After giving a description of the make-believe bomber, he then added: 'They're going to be carrying a bomb through the TSA,' he said, according to prosecutors. 'They're still threatening to do it, they're still attempting to do it, they said it's not going to be able to be detected. Please don't let that flight board.' Robinson appeared in federal court in Detroit Friday afternoon and was released on bond, according to prosecutors. His next court appearance will be on June 27 for a preliminary examination.

LaGrange honors two heroes who stopped runaway car as driver suffered seizure
LaGRANGE, Ga. (WRBL) – On Friday morning, the Troup County Sheriff's Office and the City of LaGrange will present the Citizen Bravery Award to two men who took bold action to stop a medical emergency from turning into a tragedy. Honorees Zion Reed, 22, and Drew Garner are being recognized for rescuing a woman suffering a seizure while driving on Hamilton Road on May 2. Reed, a mobile propane technician, leapt into action when he saw the driver veer into oncoming traffic near the Bryant Lake subdivision. Witness Drew Garner, who captured the event in photos and helped call 911, described Reed as sprinting toward the car, diving in headfirst, and slamming the brake — stopping the vehicle just feet away from a dump truck. The driver was convulsing and vomiting, but thanks to Reedbravery, she survived. 'This lady was having a seizure while driving, and the Lord gave me the strength to stop her vehicle before an accident occurred,' Reed later shared. 'Lord, I thank you for putting me in this position this morning.' Reed's mother added a touching detail — Zion was born weighing just 1 lb. 14 oz. 'We knew he was going to be special,' she said. In an emotional message sent to WRBL, the woman whose life was saved personally thanked both men. She said she is grateful beyond words and overwhelmed by their courage, saying she may not be alive today if not for their actions. CSP investigating alleged shooting incident on I-95 in New Haven
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Police are investigating an alleged shooting incident on I-95 in New Haven, according to state police. Rollover crash closes off ramp on I-91 in New Haven The incident was reported at around 5 p.m. in the area of exit 46. State police said that the vehicle was struck and no injuries were reported. The suspect vehicle is believed to be a white Audi that they say got onto I-91 north before exiting the highway. I-95 Southbound was temporarily closed between exits 51 and 47, as of 8:49 p.m., according to the Department of Transportation (DOT). The scene cleared at 9 p.m. This is a developing story.
