PUSH SENSATION Trends Unveiled at Intertextile A/W 26-27

The upcoming Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics – Autumn Edition will spotlight future-facing fashion concepts for Autumn/Winter 2026-27 through its Intertextile Directions Trend Forum, themed PUSH SENSATION. Set to take place from 2 – 4 September 2025 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai), the trend showcase is designed by Paris-based NellyRodi™ Agency, a member of the Intertextile Directions Trend Committee.
The PUSH SENSATION concept embodies the modern consumer's pursuit of heightened reality and emotional escape, encouraging fashion that is bold, fantastical, and deeply personal. It explores four transformative trends that reframe perception and creativity:
gentle > raw
classic > theatrical
childish > bizarre
pragmatic > dreamlike
These narratives were shaped by global trend experts from DONEGER | TOBE (New York), NellyRodi™ Agency (Paris), ELEMENTI MODA (Milan), and Sachiko Inoue (Tokyo). The forum will showcase curated fabrics and accessories from global exhibitors within these thematic directions.
gentle > raw: This nature-infused trend balances softness with authenticity. Expect upcycled and plant-dyed fabrics, brushed mohair, and mineral patterns, highlighting artisanal, earth-conscious craftsmanship.
classic > theatrical: This direction challenges traditional design with opulence and expressiveness. Luxurious tweeds and Shetland wool contrast with lasered textiles and metallic jacquards. Expect a mix of vintage florals, retro geometrics, and expressive detailing.
childish > bizarre: Channeling playful absurdity, this trend combines elements from 1950s and 1980s design with cultural kitsch and psychedelic whimsy. Look for faux furs, hand-knits, cartoon prints, and vibrant colour clashes that evoke innocence and eccentricity.
pragmatic > dreamlike: Fusing structure with fantasy, this trend merges tailored fashion with tech innovation. Metallic sheens, combed wool, translucent chiffons, and futuristic textures meet cosmic-inspired palettes and abstract line art.
The Intertextile Directions Trend Forum serves as a creative catalyst for designers and buyers seeking material inspiration aligned with global fashion evolutions. Exhibitors interested in showcasing trend-driven products can apply via the official platform.
The fair is co-organised by Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, CCPIT-Tex, and the China Textile Information Centre, and will run alongside Yarn Expo Autumn, CHIC, and PH Value, representing the entire textile supply chain under one roof.

A New Wave: this documentary explores the fond relationship between people and radios

"I'd sit alone and watch your light, my only friend through teenage nights, and everything I had to know, I heard it on my radio,' these lines crooned by Freddie Mercury in the hit classic Radio Ga Ga, captured the relationship that young people growing up in the golden age of radio shared with it. Many of those young people, much older now, still hang on to this intimate and nostalgic relationship, refusing to let it be relegated to the past. My Radio My Life, an award-winning documentary set to be screened in the city, captures these stories. Co-director Makarand Waikar explains, 'The concept was to archive it as a documentary so that anyone in the future, would know what relationship people had with the radio in an era without internet or mobile phones, when everyone depended on newspapers, magazines, and news from the radio.' He adds, 'Several people made decisions based on the radio, they considered it a friend, philosopher, and a guide.' The documentary features the stories of six people spread across India, including Uday Kalburgi, a Bengaluru-based radio-restorer, who has founded a museum dedicated to radios. Also included are the stories of V Nallathambi, a Tamil radio announcer in The Voice of America who announced the Apollo 11 landing to Tamil listeners, radio announcers Yunus Khan and Mamta Singh, along with Bharathi Prasad a HAM radio enthusiast with friends across the globe, and a librarian who tirelessly tries to restore his broken radio.
