Lorde announces 2026 arena tour in Australia; Know the dates, her family, and net worth

Economic Times11-07-2025
Kiwi pop sensation Lorde has officially announced Australian dates for her 'Ultrasound ' world tour, set to hit major arena venues in February 2026. The news comes after backlash from local fans when Australia was excluded from the original international schedule revealed in May.
The Royals hitmaker will perform at Brisbane Entertainment Centre on February 16, Sydney's Qudos Bank Arena on February 18, Melbourne's Rod Laver Arena on February 21, and Perth's RAC Arena on February 25. Adelaide, however, misses out again. The tour supports her fourth studio album, Virgin , which debuted at No. 1 in Australia last week.
Demand for tickets is expected to be high, as nearly 95 percent of the US, UK, and European shows are already sold out. Ticket sales begin with an American Express presale on July 15 at 1 pm local time, followed by a Frontier Members presale on July 17 at 2 pm, and general public sales on July 18 at 2 pm.
Lorde, born Ella Yelich-O'Connor, launched Virgin with a surprise set at Glastonbury and later stunned fans with an unannounced appearance at Mary's Underground nightclub in May. She danced with fans during a Lorde-themed party, an act that immediately went viral on social media. In a recent interview with the BBC, Lorde revealed she had battled a serious eating disorder during her Solar Power era in 2021, leading to a long period of creative block. 'This was a period where all I was thinking about was trying to weigh as little as possible,' she said. 'At the time, I was like, 'I need to stop doing this, because it's blocking all of my artistry.' Once that went away, it all started coming back.'
The 28-year-old said she underwent psychedelic-assisted therapy using psilocybin and MDMA to treat her mental health and creative struggles. She has also opened up about exploring gender identity, telling Rolling Stone that while she identifies as a woman, 'some days I feel like a man.'Lorde's latest work has been praised for its honesty and experimentation, with Virgin tackling themes such as grief, femininity, and liberation. Her vulnerability has resonated with fans and critics alike, drawing comparisons to her influence on younger stars like Billie Eilish and Gracie Abrams. Her openness about mental health, body image, and identity signals a deeper connection to her audience as she reclaims her place in global pop culture.Lorde, born Ella Yelich-O'Connor, comes from a tightly bonded, creatively inclined family of six. She is the second of four siblings and often credits her down-to-earth nature to her family's values and strong connections. Her elder sister, Jerry Yelich-O'Connor, is a lawyer who graduated from Auckland University and prefers to remain out of the limelight, though she's occasionally seen supporting Lorde at major events like the MTV Video Music Awards. Her younger sister, India 'Indy' Yelich-O'Connor, is an emerging singer-songwriter and poet based in New York. With two published poetry collections and a debut EP titled Threads, Indy is forging her creative path. The youngest sibling, Angelo Yelich-O'Connor, recently graduated in Chemical and Materials Engineering from Auckland University. A former model with Red 11 Management, he walked the runway at New Zealand Fashion Week before relocating to London to explore his creative interests.
Lorde's estimated net worth stands at $18 million, largely amassed through her successful career as a singer-songwriter. From her breakout hit Royals to her critically acclaimed albums like Melodrama and Virgin, she has consistently topped charts and sold out international tours. In addition to music sales and streaming revenue, Lorde has boosted her earnings through selective brand partnerships and her official online merchandise store.

Zelensky swaps combat fatigues for fashion diplomacy at the White House

Volodymyr Zelensky's recent White House visit saw him trade his signature military fatigues for a sharp black suit, marking a significant shift in his sartorial diplomacy. This move, a stark contrast to past criticisms, aimed to resonate with Donald Trump's preference for traditional tailoring. The fate of nations isn't usually sealed by hemlines, tailoring, or fabric choices. And yet, on Monday, all eyes at the White House weren't just on peace talks or geopolitics, they were on Volodymyr Zelensky's wardrobe. For months, the Ukrainian president has been defined by his trademark wartime uniform: olive drab t-shirts, military jackets, and the rugged aesthetic of a leader in crisis. That look became his armour and his brand, projecting resilience to his people while reminding the world of his nation under siege. But this week, Zelensky traded combat fatigue for sharp black tailoring in what can only be described as a masterclass in fashion diplomacy. From mockery to applause Back in February, the same White House press corps had scoffed at Zelensky's refusal to wear a business suit, with one right-wing reporter dismissing his fatigues as 'inappropriate' for the Oval Office. The moment spiralled into humiliation when Donald Trump and JD Vance berated him for not being 'grateful' enough. Fast-forward six months, and the mood could not have been more different. Trump, never shy about a style opinion, greeted the Ukrainian leader with unexpected enthusiasm: 'I can't believe it, I love it!' he said, gesturing to Zelensky's black jacket layered over a crisp collared shirt. Zelensky, ever the comedian, shot back with a wry grin: 'It's the best I had.' A sartorial reset This wasn't just a wardrobe change, it was a reset. The same reporter who had mocked him in February, Brian Glenn, now gushed: 'President Zelensky, you look fabulous in that suit!' Trump chimed in gleefully: 'That's the one who attacked you last time.' The Ukrainian's deadpan response, 'You are wearing the same suit as six months ago,' earned laughter, but also underscored his own shift. Zelensky was no longer the underdog being dressed down; he was holding his ground, both politically and sartorially. Dressing for Trump Fashion editors often say clothing is never 'just clothing,' and Zelensky seemed to understand that more keenly than ever. Trump is a man famously loyal to his navy suits, red ties, and the old-school tailoring of a billionaire mogul. To show up in muted military garb again would have risked alienating him. Zelenskyy HUMILIATES Reporter With Savage Comeback Over His Outfit At White House Instead, Zelensky delivered an outfit that nodded to Trump's world: streamlined, sharp, and businesslike but still modern, almost European in its slim silhouette. No gaudy colours, no fuss. Just quiet power. The message? 'I can meet you on your turf.' And he didn't stop there. Alongside the jacket, Zelensky carried a letter from First Lady Olena Zelenska addressed to Melania Trump, a gesture of intimacy and charm layered over diplomacy. Clothes opened the door, and personal touches held it open. Europe joins the runway The optics extended beyond Zelensky. European leaders arriving in Washington were clearly briefed that appearances mattered. Finnish President Alexander Stubb turned up in a double-breasted suit that drew Trump's approval for its 'youthful vigour.' NATO chief Mark Rutte, with a wink, asked Trump's protocol chief: 'Do I look OK?' as he buttoned up his jacket, turning the fashion spotlight into a running joke. The whole affair felt more Milan runway than Oval Office, with leaders subtly competing not just over policy, but presentation. Their tailoring became armour in its own right, each cut and colour chosen to project seriousness, vitality, or solidarity. Washington, Aug 18 (IANS) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky appeared for his high-profile meeting with US President Donald Trump on Monday wearing a black jacket, but stopped short of wearing a full suit and tie. For a president who once embodied wartime grit in fatigues, Zelensky's shift into a sleek black ensemble was more than just a costume change, it was strategy. By altering his silhouette, he altered the conversation. Instead of being framed as a desperate supplicant, he emerged as a peer among suited statesmen, fluent in the subtle language of dress codes and power dressing. Was it enough to sway Trump on the fate of Ukraine? Time will tell. But in the fashion stakes, Zelensky scored a diplomatic coup. His wardrobe became his weapon, proving once again that even in the world's most high-stakes negotiations, style is never secondary.

In Sikhism, service, known as "Seva," is a fundamental principle emphasizing selfless action and dedication to the well-being of others. It's a core aspect of Sikh philosophy and practice, rooted in the belief that serving humanity is equivalent to serving God," another user wrote. "You should go to their temple, they feed you and the shoes you leave at the door of the temple, they clean it for you. When there is ever help needed Sikhs are always first to show up whatever religion you come from," a third user suggested. "Beautiful randomness of kindness. Very rare these days. Hope you rang his work to give him some praise. He at least deserved that. So many people are quick to ring and complain, though never ring to give credit unfortunately," another user wrote.

Australia Great Names Indian Cricketer Who 'Ticks Every Box'. Not Virat Kohli Or Shubman Gill

Ravindra Jadeja's trademark sword-swinging celebration has been a common sight on the cricketing field. But former Australia pacer Brett Lee has cautioned the veteran all-rounder in pulling off the celebration, saying he is at the risk of injuring his rotator cuff muscle. Jadeja amassed 516 runs in the drawn 2-2 Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy Test series against England, including hitting five half-centuries and one hundred. 'The thing with Jadeja, the only way I see him getting injured is doing a rotator cuff with his, the way he does a sword celebration. So, I love it. Look after your body. Don't celebrate too hard,' said Lee on his YouTube channel on Sunday. Jadeja retired from T20Is after India's T20 World Cup win last year. But he continues to remain a force to reckon with in Tests and ODIs for India. Lee, the former Australian speedster went on to shower praise on Jadeja, and predicted he will go on to play 100 Test matches for India. 'Another sort of 15 Tests, it's about two years. I think he'll go past the 100 mark. I think he's one of the best all-rounders that we've seen. 36 years of age, he's still got a good couple of years left in him.' 'The term we like to use, factory-made cricketer. He has everything that a cricketer needs, and I think he ticks every single box. He does the basics right, he's got a simple technique, no fuss. He runs in and bowls accurately, he bowls the correct line and length when needed, and gets through his overs quickly.' '36 years of age, but the fittest. He's the fittest in the team, he covers a lot of ground, and he prides himself on being the fittest. That is probably the reason why he never shies away from those big moments. He likes to be in the game, he's an entertainer, and he's probably one of the factory cricketers that if you put everything into a mix, throw it into a bucket, mix all up, pick out your best cricketer, Jadeja will be at the top of the list,' he concluded.
