Vick Hope joins BBC One's Countryfile
BBC Factual has announced that TV and radio presenter Vick Hope is to join BBC One's Countryfile as a permanent presenter, alongside regular presenters John Craven, Matt Baker, Anita Rani, Adam Henson, Hamza Yassin, Sean Fletcher, Sammi Kinghorn, Margherita Taylor, Charlotte Smith, Joe Crowley, Tom Heap and Datshiane Navanayagam.
Vick says: 'I'm delighted to be joining the Countryfile team - spending time in nature has always been hugely important to me so the chance to learn ever more about the world around us from such beautifully diverse perspectives and such a passionate mix of people who live and breathe country life across the UK will be so special and enriching. I grew up not too far from Kielder Forest which is where my first filming will take place, and have fond memories of orienteering there as a child; the opportunity to return and champion an area that has meant so much to me as my first assignment is an incredible full circle moment - I can't wait.'
Vick's first assignment will be to join fellow Tynesider Matt Baker, exploring Kielder Forest in Northumberland as it embarks on a transformative journey. They discover how this vast wilderness is being reimagined for the future, ensuring a thriving habitat for wildlife whilst enhancing life for the local community.
Vick will also join the team at the Kielder Salmon Centre, getting some hands-on experience with a crucial task - collecting juvenile freshwater pearl mussels.

And now, the popular actor and entertainer, reveals the huge impact Alfie's cancer story has had. He said: 'I was going to events, men my age were coming up to me, but mostly women, wives saying 'thank you so much for covering that storyline, because my husband, my brother... they don't want to go to the doctors.' 'One guy in particular, and I don't personally take credit for saving his life, but that storyline did. 'He got checked. His daughter was a big EastEnders fan, and just quite casually said, come on, we love Alfie, you should go and get checked and he did just to appease his daughter. 'He found out he had prostate cancer but it was at the early stages, had it left in any longer it could have been fatal. So if we just save one life, that's the power of soaps.' This week viewers will see Alfie once again struggle with intimacy, a common side effect of his cancer treatment, as he prepares to marry Kat, actress Jessie Wallace, 53, for a third time. Shane filmed the emotional scenes before going off on an extended break where he spent a month touring with best mates, Bradley Walsh, Brian Conley and Joe Pasquale. Dubbed The Prat Pack! the quartet performed all over the country, and provided Shane with a welcomed respite from Alfie's cancer story. Shane said: 'It was one of the most brilliant experiences I've had in a long time. I did a lot of stuff before I became Alfie so they're very accommodating, hopefully again next year I'll do the same thing, another tour.' He said: 'We got approached by Netflix to go behind the scenes, and we were like, not a hope in hell!.' What are the symptoms of prostate cancer? Discussing her illustrious career with Alex and Roman Kemp, Lulu unexpectedly appeared to mouth the F-word, leaving viewers to quickly take notice. Despite the lack of an on-air apology, both Alex and Roman were seen reacting with visible shock as the incident took place. Recounting a conversation with Tina Turner, Lulu recounted, "And Tina, I have to tell you something else. Tina said, 'I love it, it is just my life story' and I went, 'Hey girl, it is my f***ing life story'." Lulu clarified, "I didn't say it straight to her face, though," while Alex could only nod, her expression one of stunned surprise. Bake Off legend claims she's been dropped by the BBC after 10 years on TV
Former Great British Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain has claimed that the BBC have 'dropped' her after 10 years. The star, 40, rose to fame after winning the baking competition's sixth series, back when it still aired on BBC One, and featured Mary Berry as a judge next to last man standing Paul Hollywood. Since her 2015 win, Nadiya has become the most recognisable of the competition's winners, launching a series of cooking shows, TV appearances and cookbooks. These shows included Nadiya's Simple Spices, Nadiya's Everyday Baking, Nadiya's Cook Once, Eat Twice and more. However, her journey appears to have hit a 'turning point,' with the celebrity chef describing her reaction as the broadcaster decided not to commission her latest project. Thank you to everyone for being on this journey with me, and I hope you can continue to stay on this journey with me. It wouldn't be what ibe (sic) is if it were not for you guys.' She went on to describe what had happened between herself and the BBC, revealing that 'there will be no more cookery show.' 'The BBC have decided that they didn't want to commission a show. And for me, that was a huge turning point because it's something I've done for the past 10 years. 'It was huge because I was already on this steady trajectory of change and I was thinking about where I wanted my career to go, and when the BBC decided they didn't want to commission the show anymore, it really did kind of solidify everything for me, and it made me dig my heels in and think 'OK, I know where I want to be.'' She continued: 'As a Muslim woman, I work in an industry that doesn't always support people like me or recognise my talent or full potential. 'There's a lot of gaslighting, making me feel like what's actually happening isn't happening.' She went on to say how she wanted to go on and 'work with people who believe in voices of people like me. Stories of people like me. I'm working some new things which I'm excited to tell you guys about.' In the comments below Nadiya's post, her followers shared messages of love, support and dismay at the BBC's decision. 'Thank you for using your platform and speaking up. You're not alone in this 🍉❤️' wrote maxlamanna. 'Start your own channel Nadiya. You don't need the beeb,' commented dublindeed. A BBC spokesperson told The Mirror: 'After several wonderful series we have made the difficult decision not to commission another cookery show with Nadiya Hussain at the moment.' However, the BBC's comment does not rule out a future collaboration with the star. 'Nadiya remains a much-valued part of the BBC family, and we look forward to working together on future projects.' Elsewhere in the video, Nadiya spoke of how she had been struggling to post about food recently, due to her feelings on the situation in Gaza, and being 'unwell.' Last year, the mum-of-three revealed that she had been diagnosed with two autoimmune diseases after feeling 'sick and unwell.' She did not specify which conditions she had been diagnosed with, but said that she would speak more when she has a 'better handle' on them. In a video on Instagram, Nadiya explained: 'Over the course of two years, I've been quite unwell. I've just been getting quite sick. 'And over the course of the two years, I've been diagnosed with two autoimmune diseases, which I'm not going to go into now. 'I will go into in the future when I know more about it, and when I have a better handle on it and when I understand it a little bit better. 'But till then I cannot express the importance of listening to your body, of taking care of yourself.'
