With GenAI MakeMyTrip Aims To Change Travel Hassle

MakeMyTrip, the online travel company, announced integration of gen AI capable trip planning assistant. It has upgraded its existing AI agent, Myra. Conversational assistance will help users through destination discovery, shopping, in-trip, and post-sales scenarios. Currently, it's available in English and Hindi and is a beta version.
The GenAI Trip Planning Assistant, Myra, is built on a network of specialised AI agents across all major travel categories, flights, accommodation, holidays, ground transport, visas, and forex. It supports multimodal input (text, voice, image, video), continuous back-and-forth dialogue, itinerary edits, and post-sales support—all within the same interface. The company has plans to expand to multiple Indian languages, after fine tuning conversation flows based on early user feedback.
"We have always believed that technology is at its best when it solves complex problems behind the scenes, while making the customer interface as intuitive and as delightful as possible. With GenAI, we take that vision further by turning intent into action. It brings together the full strength of our platform, including customer preferences, data supply, user-generated content, personalization, and real-time intelligence, to power the next era of travel," said Rajesh Magow, cofounder and group CEO, MakeMyTrip.
In 2023, MakeMyTrip integrated GenAI into its core booking experience. This was an early investment in AI to solve real-world traveller challenges. Over the years, the platform has introduced features such as Fare Lock, Zero Cancellation, voice-led customer support, and,recently,predictive tools for train bookings.
Talking about investments in the project and topline, the CEO said, "We are hopeful of it aiding to our topline. And its a work in progress."
The scale and complexity of this system make it one of the most ambitious tech builds we have undertaken at MakeMyTrip."Our in-house team has developed custom language models and layered them with planning, scheduling, and verification systems that work in sync and respond in real time. The result is a multi-agent AI framework that collaborates across categories to deliver a seamless experience. The system is currently in beta, allowing us to learn from real interactions and continue strengthening it," said Sanjay Mohan, group CTO, MakeMyTrip.
The next phase of development will introduce richer semantic search capabilities and AI-driven use cases. Now, it operates on an individual level and small groups but is yet to take up bookings on business to business level.

When Arun Vinayak co-founded Exponent Energy back in 2020, he wasn't just launching a new business—he was setting out to solve what he believed was the biggest hurdle in India's electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem: energy. "As the EV market evolved, it became obvious that the driving experience had finally caught up with traditional petrol and diesel cars," Arun shared. "But we were still facing issues like long charging times, poor battery life, and a lack of infrastructure. These weren't isolated problems—they were symptoms of a broken energy system." This insight inspired Arun and his team to create a solution from the ground up. At the core of Exponent's offering is a seamlessly integrated ecosystem: the e^pack (battery), e^pump (charger), and e^plug (connector), all designed to work together. The outcome is a standard lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery that can fully charge in just 15 minutes and lasts for an impressive 3,000 cycles. "What sets us apart," Arun noted, "is our ability to provide ultra-fast charging without sacrificing affordability or battery life." One of Exponent's standout innovations is its heat management system. Rather than using bulky and costly onboard cooling systems, Exponent has cleverly integrated the thermal system into the charging station itself. "Our off-board cooling circulates refrigerated coolant through the connector, cooling each cell individually," he explained. "This keeps the battery at its optimal temperature—even in India's extreme weather—without adding extra cost or weight to the vehicle." Even with its current success, Exponent's path hasn't been without its bumps. "India hasn't historically excelled in hardware innovation," Arun admitted. "Finding the right talent and fostering a strong engineering culture was essential." Convincing manufacturers to embrace their technology was another challenge. Arun addressed this by engaging directly with end-users. "Once we demonstrated the value to customers, it became much easier for OEMs to place their trust in us." Today, Exponent powers over 1,700 vehicles across five Indian cities (Delhi NCR, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, and Hyderabad) and has completed more than 350,000 charging sessions."We've just rolled out India's first and the world's third 1 megawatt fast-charging technology for heavy electric vehicles," Arun shared. Looking to the future, he envisions tremendous growth. "We've demonstrated that the technology is effective and scalable. Now, it's all about branching out into different vehicle types and cities," he explained. "The EV battery market is just beginning, and we're thrilled to be at the forefront." Arun's goal is straightforward: "Our mission has always been to make energy simpler and electrify transportation. That's a commitment that remains unchanged—and it always will." Facts:

By Chandini Monnappa and Nandan Mandayam (Reuters) -Indian automaker Tata Motors posted a 63% slump in quarterly profit on Friday, its fourth straight quarter of decline, as U.S. tariffs hurt businesses that were already reeling from weak sales. U.S. duties wiped 254 million pounds ($341.33 million) off its quarterly earnings, the company said, adding that the tariffs and its planned model phase-out for its luxury Jaguar Land Rover cars, made predominantly in the United Kingdom, dealt a direct blow to profit and cash flow. However, kept its JLR forecast unchanged, saying a U.S.-UK trade deal signed in May would sharply cut the tariff hit. It had earlier reported a 11% fall in overseas sales at its luxury car unit due to the U.S. export halt and the phase-out of older Jaguar models. Speaking to reporters in a post-earnings call, Chief Financial Officer P.B. Balaji also said that China's ban on rare earth magnets export had not affected the company, and added that it had de-risking plans in place to avoid any impact in the medium term. Last week, rivals Hyundai Motor India and Mahindra & Mahindra had downplayed concerns over the export ban. The magnets are key to EV motors and components in conventional cars such as power windows and speakers. The company reported a profit of 39.24 billion rupees ($447.8 million) in the April-June quarter, down from a restated 105.14 billion rupees a year earlier that includes a 49.75-billion-rupee one-time gain. Excluding the gain, profit was down 30.5%. Quarterly revenue fell 2.5% from a year earlier as sales slowed, mirroring trends at Maruti Suzuki India and Hyundai. Tata Motors expects demand to remain challenging but aims to boost performance as clarity on tariffs emerges and festive demand picks up, Balaji said. The results follow two major developments - Tata Motors' $4.36 billion acquisition of Italian truckmaker Iveco and JLR chief Adrian Mardell's exit. Mardell, who had been with the company for more than three decades, revamped the Jaguar brand, delivered its highest profit in a decade and cut $6.6 billion in debt.
