Leeds put themselves in pole position to win the Championship title after crushing play-off chasing Bristol City 4-0 in a carnival atmosphere at Elland Road.
Ao Tanaka and Willy Gnonto put the home team two goals up and substitute Largie Ramazani scored twice late on to cap a dominant display.
Daniel Farke's already promoted team climbed back into top spot above Burnley on goal difference with one game left.
Leeds and Burnley sealed promotion to the Premier League last week and both are on course to finish the campaign on 100 points.
City's top-six hopes were dealt another blow as they slipped to untimely back-to-back defeats but they would secure a play-off place with victory on Saturday at home against Preston.
Party celebrations resumed at Elland Road after last week's 6-0 thrashing of Stoke and Sheffield United's defeat at Burnley, which guaranteed both the Whites and the Clarets a top-two finish.
Manor Solomon crossed superbly for Tanaka to turn the ball home at the far post in the 21st minute and the 1-0 scoreline at the break was scant reward for Leeds' first-half dominance.
But Gnonto's cool finish after he had raced on to Joel Piroe's sublime diagonal through-ball put the home side 2-0 up in the 55th minute.
Ramazani replaced Gnonto in the 81st minute and he swept home Leeds' third goal at the far post with his first touch from Junior Firpo's low cross less than 60 seconds later.
Farke was given a standing ovation before the final whistle and in time added on Ramazani beat the offside trap to arrow a low finish into the bottom corner after Ilia Gruev's arcing pass.
Leeds returned to the pitch after the final whistle to celebrate promotion with their fans.
Leeds travel to Plymouth – almost certainly going down to the third tier – on the final day of the regular season on Saturday, while Burnley host Millwall, who are chasing a play-off place. (AFP)

Inside Liverpool star Mo Salah's impressive luxury watch collection: from the recent Richard Mille RM17-02 and Audemars Piguet's Royal Oaks to the avant-garde Urwerk UR-105 CT Streamliner

Few athletes in the world right now are enjoying a hotter streak than Mohamed 'Mo' Salah. The Liverpool FC star played a huge role in his club's recent Premier League triumph, playing some of the finest football of his career over the season. Footballer Mo Salah has a strong wrist game. Photo: Xinhua Advertisement He's widely considered one of the team's most valuable players, and as a result, has become a top target for cash-injected clubs worldwide. Case in point: earlier this year, he turned down the equivalent of a small nation's GDP – a jaw-dropping £500 million (US$677 million) – to play in Saudi Arabia. Instead, he opted to extend his stay at Anfield, where he reportedly now earns close to US$542,000 a week. With that kind of salary, it's no surprise that a fair share of Salah's pocket change ends up on his wrist. Over the years, the soon-to-be 33-year-old Egyptian forward has been spotted wearing everything from extravagant Richard Milles and esoteric haute horlogerie gems to grail-worthy Royal Oaks. Here's a look at some of the most impressive timepieces in Mo Salah's ever-growing luxury watch collection ahead of his 33rd birthday: Richard Mille RM17-02 Mo Salah signed a two-year Liverpool contract extension. Photo: @liverpoolfc/Instagram When Salah confirmed in April that he'd be staying at Liverpool, fans were ecstatic – and judging by his wrist, he was just as pleased. To mark the milestone, he added another Richard Mille to his collection, an RM 17-02 Tourbillon Titanium, which he wore while signing the two-year deal that will bring his tenure at the club to a full decade. It's a fitting flex for a striker at the top of his game: an open-worked tourbillon accented in blue, black and gold PVD, dotted with rubies, and housed in a hard-to-ignore blue ceramic and rose gold case, complete with a matching blue rubber strap. Valued at just under a million dollars – US$950,000 to be exact – it was a statement piece to wear for a big moment. Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Openworked The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Openworked boasts a highly complex perpetual calendar complication. Photo: Audemars Piguet It seems that Salah has a penchant for skeletonised, high-complication timepieces; first the RM17-02, then the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Openworked. He wore this ultra-rare piece to a headline match against Paris Saint-Germain earlier this year, making it clear that his wrist game is as sharp as his footwork.

Chelsea win race to sign Ipswich striker Delap

Chelsea win race to sign Ipswich striker Delap Delap scored twelve Premier League goals during his spell with Ipswich. Photo: AFP Chelsea beat off competition from Premier League rivals to sign English striker Liam Delap from Ipswich for a reported fee of US$41 million. Delap, 22, scored 12 Premier League goals during his sole season at Portman Road but could not prevent Ipswich making an immediate return to the Championship. Manchester United and Everton were also reportedly willing to meet the buyout clause in the England under-21 international's contract. But Chelsea have won the race for the former Manchester City forward, bolstering their attacking options ahead of the Club World Cup in the United States, starting later this month. "I understand the stature of this club and can see the trajectory it is on with these players and the head coach," said Delap, who has signed a six-year contract, in a Chelsea statement. "It's going to be an incredible place for me to develop, and I hope to achieve amazing things here and help the club win more trophies." The Blues finished fourth in the Premier League and will return to the Champions League next season after a two-year absence. And Enzo Maresca's men last week beat Real Betis 4-1 in the Conference League final to secure a trophy in the Italian manager's first season in charge. In mid-December Chelsea were within touching distance of eventual Premier League champions Liverpool before hitting a rocky patch. They finished the season strongly, securing a top-five spot on the final day of the season but were hamstrung by their lack of a clinical number nine. Senegal international Nicolas Jackson scored just 10 times in 30 Premier League appearances, while Christopher Nkunku looks set to leave the club after an underwhelming two-year spell. Delap, the son of former Stoke midfielder Rory Delap, began his career at Manchester City but struggled to break into Pep Guardiola's star-studded first team. After loan spells in the second tier with Stoke, Preston and Hull, he was snapped up by Ipswich after they won promotion to the Premier League a year ago. Delap was one of the few success stories for the Tractor Boys during a difficult season as they were relegated back to the Championship with just 22 points. Chelsea will face Flamengo, LAFC and ES Tunis in the group stages of the Club World Cup, which gets underway on June 14. (AFP)

Man City sign Milan midfielder Reijnders for 55m euros

Man City sign Milan midfielder Reijnders for 55m euros Tijjani Reijnders shows off his most valuable player award for the season in Milan. File photo: AFP Manchester City have agreed a deal to sign Netherlands midfielder Tijjani Reijnders from Serie A side AC Milan on a five-year contract worth 55 million euros, a team source confirmed on Wednesday. The 26-year-old Reijnders joined Milan in 2023 on a five-year contract, which he further extended until 2030 in March. He has made 104 appearances for the club in all competitions, winning one Italian Supercup title. He impressed during the 2024-25 season, scoring 15 goals in all competitions as he was named the Serie A's best midfielder, despite Milan finishing eighth in the league. Reijnders has also made 22 appearances for the Netherlands. His signing will boost Pep Guardiola's options in midfield following Kevin De Bruyne's departure, who will leave after a decade at the club having lifted six Premier League titles, as well as winning the Champions League and Club World Cup in 2023. City finished third in the 2024-25 Premier League season and only secured a Champions League berth on the final day of the campaign. They are next in action at the Club World Cup and face Wydad AC in their opening game on June 18, before taking on Al-Ain and Juventus in their Group G fixtures. (Reuters)
