Seales bowled 7.2 overs for the West Indies in third ODI at Brian Lara Stadium and picked up six wickets for 18 runs.
23-year-old fast bowler entered his name in the history books on Tuesday (August 12) by becoming the first West Indies bowler to take six wickets in an ODI match against the Pakistani team. The Trinidad & Tobago-born cricketer led the West Indies bowling attack in the third and final ODI of the three-match series against Pakistan at Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba on Tuesday and picked up 6 wickets for 18 runs in 7.2 overs.
In the final match of the ODI series, Seales opened his wicket account by getting Saim Ayub caught behind by Shai Hope on the third ball of the run chase. The left-handed opening batter failed to open his account despite facing three balls.
On the fourth ball of his second over, Seales then removed Abdullah Shafique for an eight-ball duck. The right-handed batter was caught by Gudakesh Modi. On the next ball, Seales breached Pakistan's ODI captain Mohammad Rizwan's defence and shattered his stumps. Rizwan got out for a golden duck in the third ODI.
In his fifth over of the match, Seales picked up Babar Azam's wicket. The former captain of the Pakistani team was trapped in front of the wickets by Seales after making 9 runs from 23 balls.
Seales completed his fifer by dismissing Naseem Shah on the fourth ball of his seventh over of the match. Naseem was caught and bowled by Seales. On the first ball of his eighth over of the match, Seales bowled Hasan Ali out for a three-ball duck.
Before Seales, the record of best bowling figures by a West Indies bowler in ODIs against Pakistan was in the name of Franklyn Rose. Rose picked up 5 wickets for 23 runs in 10 overs against Pakistan during the ODI match played in Kingstown on April 12, 2000.

Seales's figures of 6 for 18 in 7.2 overs are the third best by a West Indies bowler in ODIs. He is only Winston Davis, who picked up 7 wickets for 51 runs in 10.3 overs against Australia in 1983, and Colin Croft, who finished with figures of 6 for 15 in nine overs against England in Kingstown on February 4, 1981.

West Indies crush Pakistan, claim first series win since 1991

New Delhi Aug 13 (UNI) The West Indies ended 34-year wait with a historic win over Pakistan, sealing a 2-1 ODI series victory with a crushing 202 run win in the deciding match at the Brian Lara Stadium, Trinidad yesterday. In a statement, the International Cricket Council said, 'The West Indies have broken a drought of 34 years with an emphatic 202-run series-clinching victory over Pakistan in Trinidad on Tuesday. Skipper Shai Hope led from the front with an unbeaten innings of 120 to help the West Indies post 294/6 and pacer Jayden Seales collected six wickets in reply as Pakistan were bundled out for just 92 to ensure the home side registered a 2-1 series triumph.' It was West Indies first bilateral ODI series win over Pakistan since November 1991. Hope's 18th ODI century moved him past former great Desmond Haynes (17) and into third place for the most hundreds by a West Indies men's player with Chris Gayle (25) and Brian Lara (19) ahead of him. The ICC release noted, 'The West Indies had looked in trouble when Gudakesh Motie fell for five in the 42nd over and the score at 184/6, but Hope and Justin Greaves (43 not out) combined well with some lofty late hitting to ensure the hosts posted a decent total at Brian Lara Stadium.' The ICC added that the result will give the West Indies 'plenty of confidence' as they attempt to earn a place at the next edition of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup in 2027 after they missed out on qualifying for the most recent tournament in India in 2023. Seales' 6/18 was the third best bowling performance by a West Indian in ODI history. 'Seales then ripped through Pakistan's top-order to leave the visitors reeling at 23/4 and the in-form right-armer returned at the death to clean up the tail to finish with the third best figures (6/18) by a West Indies bowler in the history of men's ODI cricket,' as per the ICC. Hope hailed the win as a turning point. 'We had a complete game and I am extremely proud of us beating Pakistan after so long,' he said in an ICC statement. 'We stress on negatives a lot in the West Indies and there are so many positives to shout about and it was great to see the guys pulling off history.' Seales was named Player of the Series for his 10 wickets across the three matches. Hope lauded the young pacer, saying, 'Seales is a quality a class act. Anything you ask him to do, he puts his hands up. He's at his best across formats.' UNI VAN PRS

Pakistan bowled out for 92 as West Indies wins 3rd ODI by 202 runs for historic 2-1 series win

Shai Hope helped deliver some long-overdue good news for the West Indies with a century to inspire the Caribbean cricketers to a series-clinching, 202-run win over Pakistan. It was the first bilateral ODI series won by West Indies against Pakistan since 1991 and ended a run of home series defeats across the Test and Twenty20 formats to Australia and Pakistan. Hope stroked an unbeaten 120 before pace bowler Jayden Seales destroyed Pakistan's chase with six wickets in the third and final one-day cricket international. The West Indies captain said he was extremely proud of his team. Hope added there'd been a lot of stress on negatives in the game but now there was 'positives to shout about" for West Indies cricket. The big win came in the wake of a two-day emergency summit for Caribbean cricket. Hope attended part of the summit, along with greats including Brian Lara and Clive Lloyd, to help create strategies to lift West Indies back toward the top of the international game. The summit was called after a West Indian lineup scored just 27 runs in its second innings – one run short of the all-time test record for low totals — while losing the third of three tests to Australia. After losing eight straight matches to Australia and then losing a Twenty20 series 2-1 to Pakistan in Florida, West Indies lost the ODI series-opener to Pakistan last week by five wickets. West Indies leveled the series with a five-wicket victory in the second ODI to stoke hope of a revival and dominated the third. Pakistan was dismissed for 92 in 29.2 overs Tuesday after West Indies posted 294-6 at Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad and Tobago. Hope hit five sixes and 10 fours in his 94-ball knock, sharing an unbroken seventh-wicket stand with Justin Greaves of 110 runs in around eight overs. Greaves was 43 not out in only 24 deliveries, including two sixes and four fours. Pakistan collapsed early in its chase to 23-4 in the ninth over, with three ducks from its top four batters. Opener Saim Ayub was caught behind on the third ball of the innings, Abdullah Shafique also failed to score, and Pakistan was 8-3 when captain Mohammad Rizwan was bowled by Seales for a golden duck in the third over. Seales took his fourth wicket by trapping Babar Azam (9) lbw. Seales finished with figures of 6-18 from 7.2 overs. Hasan Nawaz (13) advanced and was stumped against the bowling of Gudakesh Motie and Roston Chase bowled Hussain Talat (1), leaving Pakistan on 62-6 in the 21st over. Salman Agha top-scored for Pakistan with a 49-ball 30. The match and series ended with another golden duck when Abrar Ahmed was run out by Chase.
