'Will feel benefits down the line' - Hodge on warm-weather training
Former Forest midfielder Steve Hodge believes Nuno Espirito Santo and his players will "feel the benefits down the line" from their mid-season warm-weather training trip to Dubai.Hodge was part of regular mid-season trips while playing for Forest in the 1980s under Brian Clough but joked on the latest episode of Shut Up and Show More Football: "We didn't see a football pitch - we just saw a bar!".Nuno said the trip helped develop a "tight bond" between his squad as they prepare for a crucial stage of the season in their bid to qualify for European football."The players have been around Nottingham, the City Ground, and have been travelling on coaches to games for the past seven, eight months," Hodge told BBC Radio Nottingham."There is a monotony about it. It's a great life but there is that sameness every trip, on the same bus with the same routine so it's good to get out in the sunshine. "We haven't seen the sun here for a few months so everyone wants to get in that and feel that on your back and get in the swimming pool. You lose that mental pressure of having to perform and be at it every game. "As great as we have been this season and how much the players have loved it, there is still pressure and that will ramp up now we're in that top four or five and there is a chance for Europe. "You do feel the benefits down the line - when the going gets tough you still feel pretty fresh. Mentally, you just feel you have more to give as the season progresses. "It always worked for us. We loved it. The only conversation we had after getting knocked out of the FA Cup early was knowing we'd be in Cala Millor in 48 hours. "It was not quite Dubai - the guys go out there, they're training every day and they're super fit. We didn't see a football pitch - we just saw a bar!"Listen to the full episode on BBC Sounds

A change from the managerial rollercoaster! Wayne Rooney enjoys a day out at Alton Towers with wife Coleen and his two youngest sons
Wayne Rooney and his wife Coleen took a step back from their working lives to enjoy a day out at Alton Towers with their two youngest sons to celebrate half-time. The former Plymouth Argyle manager is currently without a coaching position, but remains a popular pundit, most recently working with Gary Lineker and Co for the BBC 's coverage of the FA Cup final. Rooney was a genial presence in the punditry line-up, taking a joke from Lineker about his coaching career in good humour during Crystal Palace 's victory against Manchester City. Micah Richards had asked Rooney what he thought Oliver Glasner might discuss at half-time with his Eagles side 1-0 up - only for the former Match of the Day host to crack: 'His teams were never 1-0 up!' Rooney was quick to switch attention back to the game, but will no doubt be mulling his future in the dug-out ahead of next season. However, before the start of preparations for the 2025/26 campaign, Rooney was able to let loose with his family at the popular theme park. Coleen shared pictures of the family day out to her Instagram with the caption: 'Alton Towers is always a great half-term trip! We had a fantastic time as always... thanks for looking after us (Alton Towers)'. But as well as one or two wholesome pictures of the couple with nine-year-old Kit and seven-year-old Cass, Coleen also included pictures of herself and Rooney enjoying the rides, smiling while clinging onto the rollercoasters for dear life. Rooney managed to crack a smile throughout - even if his grimace couldn't match his wife's beaming grin - perhaps finding the twists and turns of the rollercoasters at the amusement park child's play after a spin on the managerial merry-go-round last season. Rooney started the season as manager of the Championship side but by the mid-autumn was imperiled in a battle to avoid relegation. The former Manchester United great was eventually sacked on New Year's Eve and replaced by Miron Muslic. Coleen, by contrast, has enjoyed a career resurgence, winning hearts as a runner-up on last year's iteration of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! The influencer was also able to share her sense of 'relief' after Rebekah Vardy was ordered to pay her a £1.4million settlement following their years-long Wagatha Christie legal battle. Breaking her silence at the time, Coleen insisted that 'time and money should have been put to better use' in a scathing public message. She wrote: 'The ruling yesterday in my favour finally brings this claim to an end, it's a relief and brings closure for my family and I. 'Throughout this long process, I am grateful that the judgements have consistently gone my way. 'However, as I have always maintained this claim did not need to be made or run for as long as it did. 'The time and money should have been put to better use. 'I want to thank my legal representatives, management, friends and family for their guidance and constant support. 'Thanks also to the public and many well wishers who have been in touch with such kind messages. 'This episode is not something I ever wanted in my life however I am thankful for the way my family and team have dealt with it. We look forward to moving on with our lives.' Coleen must also pay Vardy a total of £135,097.50 in costs under the terms of court orders from 2024, which will be set off against what Rebekah must pay.

Jadon Sancho's transfer lifeline as three clubs lead race to end Man Utd misery
EXCLUSIVE: Jadon Sancho's likely destination this summer is Saudi Arabia, with Al-Hilal, Al-Ittihad and Al Nassr are all interested - and the player has links to high-profile figures in Saudi which could help broker a deal Jadon Sancho could head to Saudi Arabia this summer after Chelsea snubbed the chance to sign the Manchester United outcast. The England international has been left in limbo again after the Blues refused to meet his contract demands. Chelsea opted to pay United £5million as a penalty fee for failing to trigger the obligation to buy him for £25m as part of the loan deal agreed last summer. Sancho, 25, had a mixed season at Stamford Bridge but did score in the Blues' Europa Conference League final win over Real Betis last week. Enzo Maresca was keen to keep the winger but Chelsea's top brass would not meet the player's demands for the Stamford Bridge club to match his £300,000-a-week wages. United were brought into the discussion about whether they would pay off some of the wages left on his deal which expires next summer. But they opted not to intervene and will instead pocket the £5m fine and hope to sell him elsewhere. United still owe Borussia Dortmund close to £17m in unpaid fees from the £75m deal to sign him in 2021. No top European clubs are going to consider signing the player on those wages and Sancho has shown by refusing to take a pay cut at Chelsea he still wants to earn what he gets at Old Trafford. That means his likely destination this summer is Saudi Arabia. Al-Hilal, Al-Ittihad and Al Nassr are all interested. Sancho has links to high-profile figures in Saudi which could help broker a deal. That would be music to United's ears. Boss Ruben Amorim has no intention of reintegrating the player into his squad as they push ahead for a deal for Bryan Mbeumo after securing Matheus Cunha. United are looking to sell to raise further funds for their summer rebuild and are banking on getting some money from Sancho. They would hope a Saudi bid could at least match the £25m they were due from Chelsea. But the £5m penalty fee they have received gives them wiggle room on their budgeting. That could be used to supplement the players' wages at another club if they don't strike a deal with a Saudi big hitter. United don't want to have to loan Sancho out for the final year of his contract and see him walk away for nothing next summer - although the player is not against that idea as he would have the pick of his clubs next summer.
