Projects worth Rs 342cr approved for cleanliness, beautification drive across Haryana

He instructed that a standard operating procedure (SOP) be prepared for the tender process, with clearly defined timelines and responsibilities for each stage, to eliminate unnecessary delays and ensure timely execution of projects.
The chief minister was presiding over a meeting of the High Powered Works Purchase Committee (HPWPC) in Panchkula concerning the implementation of various projects in urban local bodies.
Urban local bodies minister Vipul Goyal was also present. The committee approved projects worth approximately Rs 342 crore. Through rate negotiations with various bidders, savings of about Rs 11.9 crore were achieved.
Emphasising strict adherence to quality standards, the CM said no compromise on quality will be tolerated in development works. He directed that contractors delivering excellent and high-quality work should be honoured periodically to encourage healthy competition and commitment.
At the same time, strict action should be taken against agencies or contractors found negligent or performing substandard work.
In the meeting, projects worth Rs 15.3 crore were approved for the development and beautification of road stretches, beautification of parks, and chowks under the Divya Nagar Yojana in Karnal municipal corporation. These works will not only provide citizens with improved public spaces but will also enhance their quality of life through a cleaner and more attractive environment.

Similarly, development works worth Rs 13.9 crore were sanctioned for the Dairy Complex on Kanheli Road in Rohtak.
In addition, projects costing Rs 13.5 crore were approved for the redevelopment of the Shree Mata Sheetla Devi Shrine Complex in Gurugram. These works would promote religious tourism and provide devotees with a clean, well-maintained, and convenient environment.
Placing a special emphasis on cleanliness, the committee also approved several projects related to door-to-door garbage collection, segregation, transportation, and processing of waste.
These include approvals of Rs 9.2 crore for Narwana Municipal Council, Rs 85.9 crore for municipal corporation Rohtak, Rs 21.9 crore for municipal corporation Yamunanagar, Rs 10.4 crore for Fatehabad municipal council, Rs 56.9 crore for municipal corporation Hisar, Rs 64 crore for municipal corporation Manesar, and Rs 9.3 crore for Tohana municipal council.
In addition, Rs 25.96 crore was approved for the processing of municipal solid waste in Rohtak municipal corporation and Rs 15.3 crore for the bio-remediation of legacy waste in Rewari municipal council.
The CM said that the beautification and solid waste management systems in urban areas should be made more modern, efficient, and result-oriented to achieve the goal of Clean Haryana – Beautiful Haryana at a faster pace. For this, accountability should be ensured at every level.
Principal decretary to chief minister Arun Kumar Gupta, director general, supplies and disposal department, Pankaj, as well as the commissioners of the concerned municipal corporations and district municipal commissioners, were also present in the meeting.

Vijayawada: A delegation from the Andhra Pradesh Hotels and Restaurants Association, led by president Parvathaneni Ravi Kumar, zonal president Krishna Mohan, and Executive Committee Members Veeramachaneni Hemanth Kumar and Ilapuram Raja, met Principal Secretary Mukesh Kumar Meena on Wednesday at the Secretariat, urging the Government to extend the provisions of Go Ms No 131 to non-classified hotels in the State that already operate bar and restaurant facilities. The delegation explained that while the order currently benefits only 3-star and above hotels, many non-classified hotels match them in size, service quality, and facilities. They highlighted that these establishments employ thousands, serve lakhs of customers annually, and contribute significantly to State tax revenues. The association pointed out that owners of such hotels have made heavy investments in clean, hygienic, and safe infrastructure, with many undergoing major upgrades in line with the State's world-class hospitality vision. However, they are currently treated as standalone 2B bars, facing high costs and restrictive licensing conditions. They proposed that the same Rs 25 lakh annual licence fee structure applicable to 3-star hotels be extended to these establishments and sought automatic renewal or exemption from the lottery system. The delegation emphasised that such measures would strengthen the tourism and hospitality ecosystem, protect thousands of jobs, enhance tax revenues, and make quality hospitality more accessible to middle and upper-middle-class customers. Meena assured the delegation that the proposal would be examined for possible consideration.

Majhi launches MLA LAD web portal
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday launched the 'MLA LAD Web Portal', aimed at making the administrative process simpler and time-efficient. Majhi, ahead of a Cabinet meeting here, also unveiled revised guidelines for CM-SA (Chief Minister's Special Assistance) scheme. 'These new guidelines will make the administrative process simpler and help in implementing important schemes for people in a quick and transparent manner,' he said. The regulations also have provisions for accepting and rejecting projects. The time period from the recommendation of a project to completion of the approval process has been fixed at 30 days, the Chief Minister said. In the 'MLA LAD (Local Area Development) Web Portal', project recommendations, requirement analysis, preparation of plans and cost estimates, approval, work orders, supervision, inspection, expenditure and work execution can be undertaken by legislators in a timely manner. People of respective Assembly constituencies can also get to know details of projects recommended by their MLAs through this portal. The MLA LAD funds' grant for each Assembly segment was earlier increased from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 3 crore per year, which underwent another raise to Rs 5 crore in the 2025-26 fiscal, officials said.

Odisha govt to set up 38 model ‘mandis'
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Wednesday decided to set up 38 model mandis (agri marketing yards) in 30 districts of the State in two years with a cost of Rs 300 crore. A Cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, has approved a proposal in this regard along with six others. These model mandis have been designed to provide seamless and efficient platforms for farmers, traders and other stakeholders by integrating all essential marketing activities under one roof, with upgraded infrastructure and digital systems, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja said. In the first phase, 14 large mandis, 17 medium and seven small ones will be set up in the financial years 2025-26 and 2026-27 with an approximate cost of Rs 300 crore, he said. Out of that, Rs 150 crore will be mobilised from the resources of Regulated Market Committees (RMCs) and the remaining amount will be provisioned from the State plan scheme, Ahuja said. The Cooperation department has already made provision of Rs 50 crore under this scheme in the current financial year. In the next phase, 62 mandis will be developed as model mandis and the process of identification has already started, he said. The model mandis will have modern storage space, raised concrete drying platforms, cover sheds, quality testing kiosks, cooling chambers, farmers' rest-sheds, clean toilets, separate facilities for women farmers, eateries/canteens, vending zones, bank branches & ATMs, parking, electronic weigh bridges, retail outlets relevant to the farming community and waste disposal facilities. The Chief Secretary also said that the Cabinet has approved a tender of Rs 382.40 crore for 24x7 water supply to all households of Sambalpur, Burla and Hirakud towns of western Odisha. The amount includes construction of the entire project and its operation & maintenance for five years. The construction work is scheduled to start from September and is targeted to be completed by August 2027, he said. The State government has approved another proposal for implementation of LED public street light project (retrofitting) in all 110 urban local bodies of Odisha with a cost of Rs 350 crore, Ahuja said. The government has decided to establish a world-class Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MOR) facility for aircraft at Biju Patnaik International Airport here. The Cabinet has approved a special incentive package for the anchor MRO to facilitate the establishment of the facility, the Chief Secretary said. This will be the first major MRO facility in eastern India and a key milestone to strengthen civil aviation infrastructure in Odisha, he added. Further, the State government has decided to set up a separate Directorate of Museums for better management and coordination of the State museums. Besides, the Cabinet has approved promulgation of rules for recruitment of faculties in the government-run colleges of nursing & ANM training centres.
