Rangers legends surprise superfan on his 91 birthday at Glasgow hospital
A group of Rangers legends came together to surprise a superfan as he celebrated his 91 birthday.
Tommy Daniels, a well-known Rangers fan and long-time Rangers quizmaster, received the special visit while in Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
The heart-warming gesture came about after his family made a plea on Ibrox Radio's Facebook page, asking if any former players might be willing to pay Tommy a visit on his birthday.

The post read: "I am looking for help and prayers, my dad is in hospital and it is his 91st birthday today.
"He is a complete Rangers historian, he also was the face of the Rangers brick, he is a survivor of the Rangers disaster and has been on the news and papers many a time.
"He travelled the country as a Rangers quiz master, and I'm looking to see if there's any chance he could maybe receive a visit from any former players, it would just make his day."
Tommy's wish came true in spectacular fashion. Former Rangers stars Gordon Smith, Charlie Miller, and Alex 'Doddie' MacDonald visited him in hospital, organised with the help of the popular Oswald's Bar in Glasgow.
Adding to the surprise, Ally McCoist phoned in to speak to Tommy personally, and John Brown sent a heartfelt video message.
The effort drew widespread praise from supporters and the Rangers community.
Ibrox Radio later shared the uplifting update: "Last night Ibrox Radio put a post out asking for any ex players to visit Tommy Daniels, who is currently in the Queen Elizabeth hospital in Glasgow, the response was outstanding.
"Oswald's Bar arranged a visit with Gordon Smith, Doddie and Charlie Miller and a phone call from Ally McCoist. They also went up with a few goodies.
"Bars For Bears also paid a visit with some gifts.
"John Brown sent in a video message, plus 100s of get-well wishes to Tommy and his family.
"It was Tommy's 91 birthday yesterday. This is what the Rangers family is all about."
Fans were quick to flood the comments with praise for the sweet gesture.
One fan wrote: "Fantastic, well done everyone, finest club in the world bar none."
Another commented: "Great, well done to our Rangers family, as I grew up with Tommy, so happy for him on his 91 birthday."
A third fan added: "Outstanding, well done. It's totally true, Rangers are a family.
"Well done, all that took time to visit and make the man happy."
A fourth wrote: "This is brilliant. So happy the guys showed up for your dad, from a Celtic fan.
"Happy birthday, Tommy. Glad for you all."
A fifth fan commented: "Amazing gesture by our former players, once a Ranger, always a Ranger.
"Sending love and strength to this wonderful man and his family."

Rangers reach two-year contract extension with Adam Edstrom
Access the Rangers beat like never before Join Post Sports+ for exciting subscriber-only features, including real-time texting with Mollie Walker about the inside buzz on the Rangers. tRY IT NOW The Rangers signed Adam Edström to a two-year extension on Monday, the team announced. Carrying an average annual value of $975,000, the contract is valued and structured the same way as the one Edström's usual linemate, Matt Rempe, signed last week. Advertisement The two deals took care of a couple of key pending restricted free agents relatively early in the offseason, with Will Cuylle, Zac Jones and K'Andre Miller all still in need of new deals. Edström's first season making the team out of training camp was derailed by a lower-body injury that sidelined him for the final 31 games of the 2024-25 campaign. The undisclosed injury, which occurred Feb. 1 in Boston, required surgery. After managing to get back on the ice before the Rangers' season ended in April, Edström expects to be a full go at training camp. The Rangers signed Adam Edstrom to a two-year contract extension on Monday. JASON SZENES FOR THE NEW YORK POST Advertisement 'It took some time,' Edström said of his injury during the Rangers' break-up day. 'But the help I've gotten here, it's been great. The more time went on, kind of shifted my focus into getting ready for next season and coming back in great shape.' The 6-foot-7 forward was just starting to hit his stride at the NHL level when he sustained his season-ending injury. After appearing in just two games during the 2023-24 season, Edström earned his spot in the opening night lineup and firmly held onto it until the injury. Advertisement He primarily skated on the fourth line, but also earned a handful of looks on the wing of the third unit. Adam Edstrom Robert Sabo for NY Post In 51 games, Edström posted five goals, including two game-winners, and four assists while averaging 9:16 of ice time per game. His line with Rempe and Sam Carrick put up strong numbers during five-on-five play, outscoring opponents 4-0 and outchancing them 31-28 in their 76:55 of ice time together, according to Natural Stat Trick. Advertisement 'It's tough,' the Swede said. 'I felt like we really got going there at the end, me, Remps and Carrick. We found something really good. It's always tough to miss time, but it's one of those things that happens. It's part of the sport, but I'm excited to come back strong.'
