'Game changer' makeup product for older skin helps 'fill open pores and fine lines'

Edinburgh Live5 days ago

A makeup product that promises to 'fill open pores and fine lines' for a flawless foundation application has been hailed as a 'game changer' by mature shoppers. The Smooth Like Silk Face Prime from brand Look Fabulous Forever has received high praise, with some customers claiming it's 'better' than well-known brands and have been 'buying it on repeat' for nearly ten years.
As skin matures, the longevity of foundation, eye makeup, and lipstick tends to decrease. This is often due to the skin not being as smooth as it once was, coupled with a reduction in oestrogen production, which can leave it drier.
As a result, makeup can be absorbed into the skin, settling into fine lines and fading as the day progresses. Therefore, a quality primer is essential to maintain a fresh makeup look throughout the day, a promise made by the Smooth Like Silk Face Prime. Retailing at £29, this complexion product can be used to prepare the skin before applying makeup.
For those short on time, it can also be mixed directly into the foundation, achieving equally effective results, reports the Mirror. Specifically designed for mature skin, the primer contains aloe vera and silica, ingredients known to 'fill open pores and fine lines', providing an ideal base for long-lasting makeup. It helps prevent makeup from 'disappearing' during the day, reducing the need for constant touch-ups and ensuring a 'fresh' look all day.
The primer has received a plethora of positive reviews from fans, with over 300 shoppers commenting on this makeup essential. One customer shared: "This was the first product I ever bought from LFF, some 9+ years ago, and I've been purchasing it regularly ever since. Foundation simply glides on top of it. If in a hurry, mix it into your foundation."

Several customers have claimed that it's 'better' than the popular brand Benefit. One remarked: "I used Benefit pore minimiser which was OK for my open pores on my nose. However, this primer is so much better. The primer blurs my open pores more effectively than Benefit. So good that this is my 2nd bottle."
Another added: "For years I have been using Benefit pore minimiser as a primer and to reduce my open pores mainly on my nose. I find Benefit is the only primer I can use with other brands of foundation and to hide my pores until now. This Smooth Like Silk Primer is even much better. Not only does it minimise my large nose pores, it blends smoothly with other brands of foundation, makes my skin look even and smooth. For a 66 year old lady to receive a compliment from a 30 year old says it all. I definitely recommend this primer."
While the formula has received high praise from many customers, some have expressed dissatisfaction with the packaging. One customer shared: "Game-changing product! Just a tiny amount goes a long way to make skin smooth as silk and primed so that foundation glides on evenly and stays put all day. The only thing I would change would be the packaging. A lightweight plastic squeezy tube would be easier to pack when travelling. I want to take this key item everywhere I go."

Another fan of the primer commented: "This primer does feel 'smooth like silk' on application," but added, "However, have rated 4 stars instead of 5 because I find the square shape of the container takes up too much room in a make-up bag."
Some beauty enthusiasts have even abandoned their foundation for a more natural look since switching to the Look Fabulous Forever primer. One such customer enthused: "Absolutely love this product out of all LFF products this is hands down my number 1. Why? It does exactly what it says it will do, no faff no fuss. I wear it every working day, it smooths my complexion beautifully so much so I hardly ever wear foundation. Just a bit of Rosy Glow and lipstick! Ordered 2 bottles as I just ran out and was having withdrawal symptoms."
Primers with a similar consistency, sharing key ingredients such as Cyclopentasiloxane and Dimethicone Crosspolymer like the Look Fabulous Forever primer, are compared to the likes of Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat Blur Primer, typically £36, and Lancôme La Base Pro Perfecting Makeup Primer, usually £35.
Yet, Look Fabulous Forever sets itself apart because it is crafted especially for mature skin. The enterprise was initiated by Tricia Cusden at the ripe age of 65, with the brand having just toasted to its 11th year in business.
"I launched Look Fabulous Forever at the age of 65 because I felt largely invisible to the traditional beauty industry," said the founder. "I was also finding it increasingly difficult to find makeup that really worked on my older skin and have come to this business as a consumer - all our products are formulated so they perform brilliantly on older skin. At Look Fabulous Forever we want you to look fabulous whatever age you are without worrying too much about the odd wrinkle or grey hair."
Intrigued customers seeking to explore more from the brand will be pleased to know that the retailer is presently providing an offer on a collection of primers. Valued at £83, the set is currently available for £59, featuring the Never Feather Lip Prime and Smooth Out Eye Prime, along with the Smooth Like Silk Face Prime.
The eye primer provides a flawlessly smooth, neutral base to prevent your eyeshadow from settling into fine lines and maintain vibrant colours throughout the day. Meanwhile, the lip primer is crafted to seal the edges of your lips, preventing your lipstick from bleeding into the fine lines around the mouth.
With a total saving of £24, and including a complimentary makeup bag, each of the primers comes in at less than £20 as part of the set. This could be an option worth exploring for those considering revamping their makeup bag with products more suitable for ageing skin.

IBS supplement makes sufferers 'not rush to the toilet' and reduces 'painful cramps'

Digestive discomfort is a silent struggle for many, whether it's occasional bloating after meals, unpredictable bowel habits, or persistent digestive unease. These symptoms can disrupt daily routines, cause low energy, and affect overall well-being. For those grappling with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), the symptoms can be incapacitating; severe cramping, bloating, diarrhoea, constipation and other effects can drastically alter one's life. Gut Wealth, crowned Medtech and Healthtech StartUp of the Year 2024, is a brand dedicated to addressing everyone's gut issues - including those suffering from IBS. As reported by the Mirror, the retailer is currently offering a 25% discount on some packs of the Gut Wealth daily liquid supplement for new customers. The 56 pack is now £89.97, down from £119.96, while the 42 pack has been reduced from £86.97 to £67.47. The 24 pack, however, remains at the usual retail price of £59.98. Gut Wealth liquid supplement is a daily sachet designed to help digestive health and make gut symptoms more manageable. With a mix of seven carefully chosen ingredients, including a clinically-backed postbiotic, it aids in improving bowel regularity, reducing bloating, and alleviating digestive discomfort - particularly for those dealing with urgency or irregular movements. Each citrus flavoured sachet is easy to carry around and doesn't need refrigerating. The product fits into most dietary lifestyles, being gluten-free, suitable for vegetarians, low in sugar and low FODMAP - a type of carbohydrate that can resist digestion. In addition to supporting gut health, it also provides a daily boost of essential vitamins and minerals, including B vitamins, Vitamin C, and Zinc. The brand states that while everyone is different and each gut is unique, people typically see results within the first four weeks but it is suggested to try four to eight weeks of sachets to understand the changes. There are various other products on the market that may help with gut problems, including the Boots Good Gut Live Friendly Bacteria 30 Capsules costing £10.50. Suitable for vegans, adults and children over the age of 12, customers need to take two capsules a day with plenty of liquid, one with lunch and one with dinner. Another option is the Biomel Complete Gut priced at £30, which comes in flavours Belgian Chocolate, Pure Vanilla and Unflavoured and has up to 30 servings. The powder for digestive and immune health contains a blend of fibres, digestive enzymes and vitamins and minerals. Gut Wealth users have reported significant improvements in bowel regularity, reduced urgency and better overall gut health after adding the citrus sachets to their daily routine. One IBS sufferer shared her journey on social media, garnering over 50,000 views. "Before Gut Wealth, I'd literally spent years of my life in pain because of my IBS," she recounted. "I'd be constantly bloated and had such severe, debilitating cramps and pains sometimes something completely random would set me off. I'd be lucky if I even managed to sit through a meal without having to run to the toilet. "There's absolutely no chance of leaving the house on those days; you're a slave to your bowels. I'd be worried about having an accident. I'd be stuck at home all day and sent to bed early with intense cramps. I'd often feel quite lonely." After starting Gut Wealth, she remarked that within four days she 'wasn't going to the toilet as much', as she explained: "I noticed after two weeks I wasn't having to rush to the toilet at all and the painful cramps almost completely disappeared. I've been taking Gut Wealth for two and a half months now and I can eat whatever I want. I never thought I'd see the day when I could drink my morning coffee and have spicy noodles for dinner." Another customer commented: "Started taking them as I'm bloated pretty much most of the time which is not good. My word, with these, it's been a massive difference and quick." Someone else said: "No more panic about getting to the toilet. Urgency was reduced and gut health improved. A true positive change to my life." Unfortunately not all experiences were as transformative, with one individual noting: "Good for regularity, not so much with the bloating yet."

Shoppers rush to major supermarket get their hands on a 99p mirror

SHOPPERS are flocking to a major supermarket to get their hands on a stylish mirror for less than £1. The absolute steal was found in the middle aisle at Aldi, and the price was almost too good to be true. 3 The egg-shaped mirror sits inside a thick white frame and measures at 40 x 38 x 2.5 cm - making it the perfect bathroom or bedroom accessory. Sharing the discovery on Extreme Couponing and Bargains, the delighted customer said: "Found in the middle aisle!" She added that she'd found the Pebble Mirror in the Stowmarket store. Other shoppers couldn't believe the price and rushed to the comment section. "You can't beat that. Fab 99p", one said. "I've got this mirror in my bathroom, I should have waited and got it for 99p, mine was the original price," wrote a second. Another asked if there were many left. The mirror is no longer available on Aldi's website, so it may only be specific stores that sell the piece as part of a clearance. It's worth keeping in mind that not all stores stock the same items, or have the same prices. Some products may be on sale or reduced due to damage. Aldi has a store finder on its website and app so you can check on stock before making a trip. And remember that the middle aisle changes every week, so you better hurry! This comes after the German grocer announced its expansion plans, splashing out £650million on 10 brand new stores this year. Over the next 14 weeks, ten brand new branches will open across the UK and they'll bring with them around 400 new jobs. Why do Aldi and Lidl have such fast checkouts IF you've ever shopped in Aldi or Lidl then you'll probably have experienced its ultra-fast checkout staff. Aldi's speedy reputation is no mistake, in fact, the supermarket claims that its tills are 40 per cent quicker than rivals. It's all part of Aldi's plan to be as efficient as possible - and this, the budget shop claims, helps keep costs low for shoppers. Efficient barcodes on packaging means staff are able to scan items as quickly as possible, with the majority of products having multiple barcodes to speed up the process. It also uses 'shelf-ready' packaging which keeps costs low when it comes to replenishing stock. Aldi now has more than 1,050 stores across Britain and has set its sights on 1,500 as part of its long-term plan. Each of the 10 new sites will create around 40 jobs, with staff earning at least £12.75 an hour, and even more inside the M25 at £14.05. That's before a planned pay bump this September that'll push starting pay up again. All Aldi staff also get paid breaks, worth around £1,370 a year to the average store colleague. Alongside the new sites, Aldi will also give 30 of its existing stores a fresh new look. These will include popular locations in Manchester, Liverpool, Kent, Dorset and Scotland. The chain's managing director of national real estate, Jonathan Neale, revealed why the company was expanding rapidly, in a statement released today. He said: "We strongly believe that everyone in Britain should have access to high quality food at our unbeatable Aldi prices. "But we know that there are still thousands of shoppers in the capital that don't yet have access to an Aldi nearby." The budget chain has tossed £55million at its capital city stores alone, with four of the new branches being in London. These include the Wimbledon, Fulham Broadway, Orpington and Caterham (Surrey) branches. Aldi also wants to open another 100 stores in London, which would mean 3,500 new jobs in the capital. Jonathan said: "There are still thousands of shoppers – especially in London - who don't yet have an Aldi nearby. "That's not fair, and we're working hard to change that.' So if there's not an Aldi near you now, chances are there will be soon and your weekly shop might just get a whole lot cheaper. 3 3
