'As #Haj2025 begins, heartfelt wishes to all 1,22,518 pilgrims undertaking this sacred journey. The first flights took off today, 288 pilgrims from Lucknow & 262 pilgrims from Hyderabad. Under the leadership of Hon'ble PM Shri @narendramodi ji, the Government of India remains committed to ensuring a smooth & seamless Haj pilgrimage for all. Prayers for a safe, blessed & spiritually enriching pilgrimage,' the Union Minister said.
Earlier on April 22, Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs, George Kurian, inaugurated the orientation-cum-training programme of selected Haj deputationists of Haj 2025 for two days on 22nd and 23rd April, 2025, at SCOPE Complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi.
In his inaugural address, the Minister of State, appreciating the role of Haj deputationists as crucial enablers in successful Haj operations, exhorted the deputationists to perform the duties assigned to them with utmost sincerity and commitment.
In total, 620 deputationists (266 administrative and 354 medical) have been selected this year to assist CGI Jeddah in effective Haj management in Saudi Arabia, to serve Indian Haj pilgrims.
These deputationists have been chosen through a rigorous selection process. During the orientation-cum-training programme, they are trained on various issues, including an overview of Haj operations, the role of deputationists, health issues, crowd and disaster management, and the Haj Suvidha App, before being deputed to Saudi Arabia.
Special emphasis is being placed on acquainting the deputationists with the functioning of the Haj Suvidha App, which was introduced during Hajj 2024 and played a crucial role in disseminating information and addressing grievances of Indian Hajj pilgrims.
Building on the success of the App during Hajj-2024, the Government intends to further realise its potential by effectively providing training to the deputationists.
Furthermore, since the management of the Indian Haj pilgrimage is the largest logistical exercise managed by the Government of India outside the country's borders, the orientation-cum-training programme for Haj deputationists will contribute to helping Indian pilgrims successfully perform Haj. Kerala CM slams PM Modi for praising RSS in I-Day speech
T'puram: Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan has criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for praising RSS in his Independence Day speech. He stated that giving credit to RSS and V D Savarkar for Indian independence was a denial of history. Vijayan said it was a dishonour to the independence struggle that the Prime Minister chose Independence Day itself to eulogize those who worshipped the British. RSS was banned in connection with the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi, and Savarkar faced conspiracy charges related to the murder, the chief minister said. Any amount of ridiculous efforts to whitewash an organization like RSS would not work. The conspiracy behind such an exercise was clearer in the Union petroleum ministry's Independence Day poster, featuring Savarkar above Gandhiji, he added. "It shows the panic of those who fear the history of the freedom struggle," Vijayan said in a statement. "Indians joined the national independence movement beyond caste, religion, dress and language differences. RSS played the role of bystanders then. They openly opposed the fundamental ideological concepts of the freedom movement. Instead of the unity in diversity that Indian nationalism upholds, they promoted a Hindutva nationalism based on majority communalism. On Nov 26, 1949, when the Constituent Assembly gave final approval to India's Constitution, the RSS mouthpiece, Organizer, editorialized that Manusmriti should be upheld instead of the Constitution," the chief minister said. Vijayan said Savarkar boycotted the Independence Day celebrations on Aug 15, 1947. It was this same Savarkar whom the Sangh Parivar is now projecting as a leader of the freedom struggle. RSS, which stood aloof throughout the phases of the freedom struggle, is now engaged in creating false narratives to claim a role in the national movement. "What respect do those who called for observing Aug 14 as a day of Partition horror have for Independence Day?" he asked. The nation must stand united against any attempt to bury the history of humanity and mutual respect and replace it with hatred, he added. Manipur Governor meets Naga outfit delegation over India-Myanmar border fencing, scrapping of FMR
A delegation of United Naga Council (UNC) met Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at Raj Bhavan Saturday to discuss the India-Myanmar border fencing and the scrapping of the Free Movement Regime (FMR). The apex body of Naga outfits in Manipur, UNC has been opposing the ongoing construction of border fencing, as well as scrapping of FMR — stating 'these would otherwise affect the community that has been divided by the border'. The 10-member delegation, led by UNC president Ng Lorho, shared their views and concerns related to border fencing and FMR scrapping, and requested the Governor to take up these issues with the Central government, the Raj Bhavan said in a statement. 'The Governor has assured to facilitate talks between the Government of India and the UNC at the earliest,' Lorho told the media, adding another round of talks involving the Government and the UNC 'would be arranged within three days'. The meeting came in the wake of expiry of the 20-day ultimatum by the UNC in protest against the 'ongoing border fencing work along the Indo-Myanmar border' and the 'unilateral suspension of the FMR'. On August 11, during an emergency presidential council meeting, the UNC declared it was left with 'no option, but to intensify its movement'. With PTI
