Glencore to manage all its coal assets out of single Australian unit

LONDON, May 29 (Reuters) - Glencore (GLEN.L), opens new tab said on Thursday it has restructured its coal business by moving its recently acquired Canadian mines into a single unit run out of Australia, making it easy to manage.
The Swiss-based miner and trader bought Canadian miner Teck Resources' coal assets for $6.9 billion and had initially outlined a plan to spin off all its coal assets, which was later abandoned.
"Combined with the acquisition of EVR we commenced a process to restructure the coal business and align it with the management structure given the coal industrial assets are managed out of Australia," a Glencore spokesperson said.

Nobody's Child e-commerce director exits for Dubai brand Squatwolf

Chris Bishop, the e-commerce and digital director of Nobody's Child, has exited the British fashion brand to take up a similar role at Dubai-based sportswear company Squatwolf. Bishop announced his appointment on LinkedIn, where he said he was 'happy to share that I'm starting a new position as e-commerce director at Squatwolf'. Until May 2025, Bishop had been in his now former role at Nobody's Child since September 2022. He had joined the brand after serving as a self-employed business, e-commerce and marketing consultant over the course of six years. During this time, he worked with companies ranging from high growth startups to 100 million pound turnover firms. Among these were names like UK-based bicycling company Sigma Sports, where he was interim chief marketing officer, and fashion rental platform MyWardrobeHQ, as interim e-commerce director. In his new position, Bishop will work alongside Squatwolf founders Anam Khalid and Wajdan Gul on accelerating the growth of the gymwear brand. Founded in 2016, Squatwolf has experienced significant growth in its lifetime, expanding beyond the Middle East to serve consumers in over 120 countries, its LinkedIn page states. In 2023, the company raised 30 million dollars in a Series B funding round, which was to be used to expand its omnichannel presence and develop its product lines.

South African rand gains before manufacturing PMI, vehicle sales data

JOHANNESBURG, June 2 (Reuters) - The South African rand gained some ground against a weaker dollar in early trade on Monday, ahead of a purchasing managers' index (PMI) survey for the domestic manufacturing sector and vehicle sales figures. At 0602 GMT, the rand traded at 17.9475 against the dollar , about 0.2% firmer than Friday's closing level. The Absa PMI for May is set to be released at 0900 GMT and will shed light on manufacturing conditions in Africa's most industrialised economy. Local investors will then turn their focus to vehicle sales (ZAVEHY=ECI), opens new tab data due around 1200 GMT, giving a snapshot of consumer demand for big-ticket items. Nedbank economists said they expect annual growth in new vehicle sales to have accelerated from 11.9% in April to 20.4% in May, reflecting last year's low base and easing financial conditions due to interest rate cuts. The dollar last traded about 0.2% weaker against a basket of currencies as U.S.-China trade tensions continued to simmer and investors turned defensive ahead of U.S. jobs data. South Africa's benchmark 2035 government bond was little changed in early deals, with the yield up 0.5 basis points at 10.16%.
