Five Bangladeshi nationals held for illegal stay in South-West Delhi
According to officials, the group was traced to different locations, and fresh deportation proceedings have been initiated in coordination with the FRRO, Delhi, after all necessary legal formalities have been completed.
The apprehended individuals have been identified as Ukil Amin (45), Abdul Rahim (27), and Mohd Zakir (40 days) -- all are residents of Shekhadi Donia, Jatrabari, Dhaka; Mohd Zahidul Islam (25) from Mechani Par, Nageshwari, District Kurigram; and Jimmu Khatoon (20) from Anantpur, Upazila Phulbari, District Kurigram, Bangladesh.
To curb illegal migration and monitor foreign nationals residing unlawfully in the jurisdiction of the South West District, a dedicated team was assigned to gather intelligence and take strict action against illegal migrants.
Accordingly, a dedicated team comprising SI Ved Prakash, ASI Vinod Kumar, ASI Dharmender, ASI Jaipal, W/ASI Sandhya, HC Mohit, HC Narender, HC Manoj Moral, HC Kishan, HC Prashant and HC Devender was constituted under the leadership of Inspector Ram Kumar and the supervision of Vijay Kumar, ACP/Operations, South West District.
The team was briefed on vigil patrols, ensuring effective vigilance and proactive measures against illegal activities.
The team on Tuesday received secret information that some illegal Bangladeshi migrants are roaming in the Delhi Cantt area. The individuals were pointed out by the informer, police said.
Acting swiftly on the secret information, the staff approached the suspected persons, asked for their identification documents, and conducted an enquiry. The individuals failed to produce valid documents and admitted to being illegal Bangladeshi migrants who had entered India in the year 2023 by illegal means. They were working at brick kilns in Gaya, Bihar, they said.
Recently, they were removed from the work by the owner of the brick kilns. Due to this, they came to Delhi by train to search for labour work. They only had photocopies of Bangladeshi documents, like the national ID card of Bangladesh, the police added. (ANI)

It marked the third security lapse over the past few days in mock drills being run on the premises in the run-up to August 15. The dummy operative, tasked with testing readiness, even took selfies and recorded videos among security personnel before leaving, an official aware of the matter said. Deputy commissioner of police (North) Raja Banthia said that the drills are a routine affair. 'We continue to do them to rule out any shortcomings and we have conducted several successful drills where the mock operatives were caught,' the officer said. An officer aware of the matter said that at least 15 mock drills have been successfully conducted. 'Three subversion attempt mock drills and two dummy infiltration drills by Special Branch, nine dummy infiltration attempts by local vigilance branch and one subversion attempt mock drill of Special Cell have been successful, in which the dummy suspects were caught,' the officer said. Another senior Delhi Police officer said the man entered the premises on Friday evening by scaling the wall near the petrol pump on Nishad Raj Road. He made his way to the high-security seating zone and 'spent considerable time loitering' before exiting. The Special Cell later sent photographs and videos of the breach to the police headquarters, after which the police took corrective measures. The communication was also sent to the Prime Minister's Security Unit, as per protocol. As of Sunday, no disciplinary action was taken against erring officials. Last week, seven police officials were suspended over the arrest of five Bangladeshi nationals allegedly living illegally near the fort, and the recovery of two live cartridges from the premises.

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], August 11 (ANI): The lead US attorney, Mike Andrews, representing over 65 families affected by the tragic AI171 plane crash here, outlined the complexities of the ongoing litigation and stated that the 'challenges initially are putting the puzzle together, finding out what happened."Speaking to ANI, Andrews said that the challenge lies in determining the cause of the crash and identifying whether or not there is a defect that contributed to the tragedy.'There are always challenges in litigation. There are many challenges in product liability litigation. Not only do we have to start where we are now in determining what happened, but we also have to determine whether or not there is a defect that caused this," Andrews explained. The investigation will examine potential design or manufacturing issues, as well as maintenance problems, to piece together the events leading up to the crash.'We need to determine whether the problem stems from design or manufacturing issues, or if it's a maintenance problem. Sometimes it's a combination of the two. So the challenges initially are putting the puzzle together, finding out what happened," he highlighted the intricacies of the case, stating, 'Did a defect render this product unfit for its intended purpose? Was it foreseeable that it was going to be used in this way? Did someone misuse it, and did it fail under its ordinary use?" The investigation will also scrutinise the aircraft's complex electrical and computer systems to determine if any uncommanded or erroneous inputs contributed to the crash.'So, in this case, the question is whether it is foreseeable that a plane will take off. What happened behind the scenes? This is a very complex, complicated, electrically driven, computer-operated aircraft. What other things could have gone wrong? Did the pilots make the inputs, or did the computer call for an uncommanded, uncontrolled, erroneous input that led to this?" he lawyer emphasised the importance of analysing alternative designs that could have prevented or mitigated the crash. 'Once we make those determinations, we begin to look at things like alternative designs. Are there designs out there that could have prevented this from happening, could have mitigated the injuries, could have made it less likely?" On June 12, Air India flight AI171, a Boeing 787-8 aircraft, crashed shortly after it took off from Ahmedabad's Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, killing 260 people, including 229 passengers, 12 crew members, and 19 people on the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) of India later released the preliminary report into the tragic crash, outlining the harrowing sequence of events that unfolded within 90 seconds of takeoff. It noted that both engines of the aircraft shut down unexpectedly during the initial climb, leading to a catastrophic loss of thrust and rapid crash represents one of the deadliest aviation accidents in India in recent history. Hundreds honour security guard killed in New York office tower shooting
New York, Aug 10 (AP) Hundreds turned out to honour the life of Aland Etienne, the security guard who was killed last month at a Manhattan office tower by a gunman targeting the headquarters of the National Football League. An immigrant from Haiti who came to the US in 2017 with a dream for a new life, Etienne was remembered as a dedicated father and grandfather who was faithfully working at his security post when the gunman suddenly opened fire on July 28. 'My brother will be remembered as a hero. A humble, steady, kind New York hero," said Smith Etienne, Aland's brother, in a statement. 'Aland made the ultimate sacrifice, choosing bravery and selflessness over fear. In his final moments, he acted to protect others." The memorial service was held on Saturday in Brooklyn for Etienne, 46, the last of the four shooting victims to be laid to rest. A New York City police officer, an investment firm executive and a real estate firm worker were also killed. The gunman wounded a fifth person before taking his own life. Like Etienne, slain NYPD Officer Didarul Islam, who was working a department-approved private security detail that day, was an immigrant. Islam was Bangladeshi-American. Manny Pastreich, president of Etienne's union, 32BJ SEIU, said Etienne represents not only essential workers who are the backbone of New York City, but also immigrants who come to the US to build a better life and contribute in both large and small ways. 'His legacy will serve as a reminder of the contributions of immigrants, and the sacrifices, they make every day," Pastreich said in a statement.
