TTD cautions devotees against approaching touts
It advised the devotees .to book darshan through TTD's official website or through token-issuing counters only.
Recently, one Y Vishwanath from Hyderabad lodged a complaint stating that one Vanam Nataraj Narendra Kumar and K S Nataraj Sharma collected Rs 90,000 from him, claiming to arrange VIP break darshan tickets.
.According to the complaint, the accused persons promised VIP break darshan tickets for 12 mem-bers on August 16, 2024, and collected Rs 90,000. However, despite repeated requests and phone calls, they neither provided the tickets nor refunded the money.
On investigation, TTD Vigilance found that the accused have been cheating several people in Hydera-bad and surrounding areas in the similar manner. Around 12 police cases have already been regis-tered against them.
TTD clarified that Vanam Nataraj Narendra Kumar and K S Nataraj Sharma are not TTD employees and have no connection whatsoever with TTD.
TTD is frequently receiving complaints from devotees regarding fake darshan ticket bookings.
Hence, TTD strongly advises devotees not to rely on unauthorised websites or middlemen and reit-erated only to book through the official TTD website https://ttdevasthanams.ap.gov.in or the TTD mobile app using Aadhaar details are valid.
For information, devotees may also contact the TTD toll-free number 155257.
To create awareness among devotees regarding fraudulent activities by middlemen, TTD is undertak-ing campaigns across various media platforms. If devotees suspect any fraudulent activities, they are requested to contact TTD Vigilance officials on 0877-2263828, where officers will be available round-the-clock.

'There's a limit...': Madras HC issues statutory notice; summons ED Assistant Director for disobeying orders
CHENNAI: Expressing strong displeasure over the manner in which the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has been handling cases filed by film producer Akash Bhaskaran and businessman Vikram Ravindran, the Madras High Court on Wednesday issued 'statutory notice' to an Assistant Director (AD) in connection with a contempt of court petition. The petition was moved by Akash Bhaskaran praying for punishing the officials for willful disobedience by continuing to hold the money laundering proceedings under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) despite the bench issuing an interim injunction on June 20. A division bench of justices MS Ramesh and V Lakshminarayanan directed the AD, Vikas Kumar, Chennai Zonal Office-I, to appear in the court on September 17, 2025. Coming down heavily on the ED for its overreaching act, the bench told the special public prosecutor N Ramesh appearing for the agency, 'There is a limit (for the ED).' When the counsel said the AD was not aware of the court's order, the bench said he was very much present in the court when the order was passed. 'If he is not aware of it, we will make him aware,' it said. The bench had recently imposed costs of Rs. 30, 000 on the ED for failing to file a counter-affidavit. Senior counsels Vijay Narayan and Abudu Kumar Rajaratnam appeared for Akash Bhaskaran. The ED conducted search and seizure operations, on May 16, 2025, in the premises of Akash Bhaskaran and Vikram Ravindran in connection with the alleged TASMAC scam.

Lok Sabha passes Bill to ban online games involving monetary enrichment
Amid din by the Opposition, the Lok Sabha on Wednesday passed the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025, aimed at checking instances of addiction, money laundering and financial fraud through such applications, by voice vote without a debate. An online money game is one played by a user by depositing money in expectation of winning monetary and other enrichment. Once the legislation is passed by both Houses of Parliament, offering or facilitating online money gaming will be punishable by imprisonment of up to 3 years and/or a fine of up to Rs 1 crore. The Bill also seeks to prohibit advertisements related to online money games as well as bars banks and financial institutions from facilitating or transferring funds for any of such games. In his opening remarks, Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said while digital technology brought many benefits, the online money games became a challenge, though e-sports and online social games like chess and solitaire were useful. 'Online money games have become a problem. Many people have become addicted and frittered away their earnings. There are opaque algorithms that lead to losses. Many families have been destroyed. In Karnataka, there were 32 suicides reported in 31 months,' he said, adding that WHO has also flagged the dangers of online money games. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said he was willing to allot time for a thorough discussion of the Bill that addressed a social cause, but the Bill was passed quickly through a voice vote, as Opposition members continued to protest and raise slogans. The Bill aims 'to promote and regulate the online gaming sector including e-sports, educational games and social gaming; to provide for the appointment of an Authority for coordinated policy support, strategic development and regulatory oversight of the sector…' It also aims 'to prohibit the offering, operation, facilitation, advertisement, promotion and participation in online money games through any computer resource, mobile device or the Internet, particularly where such activities operate across State borders or from foreign jurisdictions; to protect individuals, especially youth and vulnerable populations, from the adverse social, economic, psychological and privacy-related impacts of such games…' The Bill endeavours 'to ensure the responsible use of digital technologies; to maintain public order and protect public health; to safeguard the integrity of financial systems and the security and sovereignty of the State; to establish a uniform, national-level legal framework in the public interest; and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto'. The key to the Bill is the prohibitions it imposes to deal with the addictive aspects of online money gaming that lead to financial losses and psychological problems. 'No person shall offer, aid, abet, induce or otherwise indulge or engage in the offering of online money game and online money gaming service. No person shall make, cause to be made, aid, abet, induce, or otherwise be involved in the making or causing to be made any advertisement, in any media including electronic means of communication, which directly or indirectly promotes or induces any person to play any online money game or indulge in any activity promoting online money gaming,' it lays down, adding, 'No bank, financial institution, or any other person facilitating financial transactions or authorisation of funds shall engage in, permit, aid, abet, induce or otherwise facilitate any transaction or authorisation of funds towards payment for any online money gaming service.' The Bill empowers the Centre to notify an Authority consisting of a Chairperson to assist it in the implementation of the Act.

Police name moneylender couple in Kerala womans suicide case
Agency: PTI Last Updated: Kochi, Aug 20 (PTI) The police have named a couple as accused in the case of a 46-year-old woman who died by suicide after they allegedly threatened her over money lending in Kottuvally in Ernakulam district, a senior officer said on Wednesday. On Tuesday, Kottuvally native Asha Benny died by drowning, a day after she was allegedly threatened by Bindhu and her husband, Pradeep Kumar, who live in the neighbourhood. Relatives of the deceased alleged that Asha had borrowed over Rs 10 lakh from Bindhu, who demanded a high rate of interest. However, despite repaying more than Rs 20 lakh, Bindhu and Pradeep continued to demand additional money, a relative said. Distressed over the situation, Asha first attempted suicide by injuring herself. Following the incident, Asha and her family approached the police, who held discussions with Bindhu and Pradeep, a retired police official. However, after the discussion, Bindhu and Pradeep allegedly went to Asha's house on Monday night and threatened her again, Asha's husband, Benny, said. On Tuesday, Asha was found dead in a river, and police later recovered a suicide note from her house. Speaking to reporters, Ernakulam Rural Police Chief M Hemalatha said that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) had been constituted to probe the case. 'The SIT has been formed under the leadership of the Munnambam DySP. As it is the first day of the investigation, we are completing the preliminary procedures. A detailed investigation will be conducted in the case. We have amended the charges and included the offence of abetment of suicide," Hemalatha said. A senior police officer said a report had been filed at the magistrate's court to arraign Bindhu and Pradeep as accused under the offence of abetment of suicide. The officer added that fresh charges were included on the basis of the suicide note recovered from Asha's house. Hemalatha said the financial transactions between Asha and Bindhu were being scrutinised and that investigators would also examine whether Bindhu and Pradeep had engaged in illegal moneylending activities. Meanwhile, Benny, the husband of the deceased, said he had only recently learnt that his wife had borrowed money. 'Asha had attempted suicide earlier, and only then did we realise she had borrowed money from Bindhu. She told us the money was borrowed in instalments for house repairs, medical expenses, and purchases for her small-scale textile business," Benny said. According to him, Bindhu and Pradeep had threatened Asha on three recent occasions, and she was deeply distressed on Tuesday before she took her own life. He added that his family was expecting a fair investigation into the case. Asha's body was handed over to her relatives after the post-mortem on Wednesday.
