Alice In Chains cancel tour after drummer's health scare
The band axed a gig in Connecticut on Thursday night (08.05.25) to prioritise Kinney's health and they have now confirmed the rest of their headline shows and their upcoming festival dates have also been called off.
In a statement they explained: "After careful consideration and following the advice of medical professionals we have made the decision to cancel our upcoming festival performances and the Alice in Chains headline shows.
"While we were all eager to return to the stage, Sean's health is our top priority at this moment. Although the issue requires immediate attention, his long-term prognosis in positive.
"We sincerely appreciate your understanding and support during this time."
No further details about Kinney's health scare have been released.
The Connecticut show at the Mohegan Sun Arena would have marked the band's first headline gig in more than 12 months after their last performance at the Sick New World festival in Las Vegas in April 2024.
As they scrapped the gig, they posted a statement on social media which read: "After our soundcheck this evening at the Mohegan Sun Arena, Sean experienced a non-life-threatening medical emergency. 'We unfortunately have to cancel tonight's show. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience. Refunds are available at the point of purchase."
They had been due to perform gigs in cities including Nashville, Tennessee and Dothan, Alabama as well as festival sets at MMR*B*Q in New Jersey, Sonic Temple in Columbus, Ohio and Welcome to Rockville in Daytona Beach, Florida.
The band is still scheduled to perform at the big Black Sabbath reunion gig at Birmingham's Villa Park in the UK on July 5.
Alice In Chains singer singer William DuVall recently admitted the musicians were all looking forward to their summer shows.
Speaking on KLOS radio show 'Whiplash', he said: "Well, we're excited for these dates we have coming up in May. We're excited to get out there and see everyone.
"We are in regular contact and communication, and so we'll just have to see what comes after May. I really wouldn't wanna say anything more than that. But we're excited about these shows in May. We're really looking forward to it."

Sean Kingston jailed
Sean Kingston has been sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison. The Beautiful Girls hitmaker - whose real name is Kisean Paul Anderson - and his mother, Janice Turner, were found guilty of five counts of wire fraud in March following a federal trial and faced up to 20 years in jail for each charge. But on Friday (15.08.25), Sean apologised in front of Judge David Leibowitz and said he had learned a lesson, and though his attorney asked the 35-year-old star be allowed to leave and surrender at a later date for health reasons, the judge refused and he was immediately taken into custody. His attorney, Zeljka Bozanic, told Entertainment Weekly the musician is taking the situation "as a learning experience". The lawyer said in a statement: "We respect the Court's decision and the judicial process. We are content that the Court did not go with the government's request of five years and sentenced Sean below the sentencing guidelines instead. It is important to note that most of the restitution in this case was paid back, even before these charges were brought. "Sean is taking this as a learning experience and will continue moving forward in a positive direction. We are actively reviewing all available options, including potential appeals, to ensure his rights are fully protected." Janice - who had previously pleaded guilty to bank fraud for stealing $160,000 and served more than a year in prison - was sentenced to five years behind bars last month. The mother and son had denied allegations of falsely claiming they had sent bank transfers for luxury items worth more than $1 million but were found guilty in March. After the verdict was reached, Sean was placed on home detention, though he has to meet bond requirements, including a $200,000 surety bond in cash, as well as putting up a relative's $500,000 house. However, Janice was reminded into federal custody and was taken away by US Marshals as her son cried. He told them: "Protect my mother.' While Sean opted not to testify on his own behalf, his mother did, and the judge explained she was remanded as a flight risk in part due to her testimony. He said Janice - who has similar past convictions - had shown she was the "fixer, the nerve centre" and in control of the fraud scheme but her son's defence depicted him as "a child" with no knowledge of finances. Several alleged victims had claimed to have been swindled out of items including a bulletproof Cadillac, a huge TV and expensive watches, and all items had been seized in a raid on Sean's home. The United States Attorney's Office in the Southern District of Florida, previously explained the rapper and his mother's charges stemmed from their alleged involvement in "a scheme to defraud victim sellers of high-end specialty vehicles, jewellery, and other goods purchased by the defendants through the use of fraudulent documents." The office went on to state the pair "unjustly enriched themselves by falsely representing that they had executed bank wire or other monetary payment transfers as payment for vehicles, jewellery, and other goods purchased by the defendants, when in fact no such bank wire or other monetary payment transfers had been executed by the purported banks, and thereafter the defendants retained or attempted to retain the vehicles, jewellery and other goods despite non-payment. Through the execution of this scheme, the defendants obtained in excess of $1 million in property." The pair were accused of having stolen almost $500,000 in jewellery, more than $200,000 from Bank of America, more than $100,000 from First Republic Bank, $160,000 from a Cadillac Escalade dealer and $86,000 from a maker of customised beds. At the time of his arrest last year, the musician was serving two years probation for trafficking stolen property.

AFL coach blows up at filmmakers in ‘really strong scenes'
The Lions coach was caught off guard when the film crew came to the Gabba. AFL staff have had to step in and watch over Prime Video filmmakers after they 'ruffled feathers' at Brisbane during production for the upcoming documentary. Prime Video are currently going behinds the scenes with several AFL clubs to make a docuseries called Box to Box, not dissimilar to Netflix's famous Drive To Survive franchise that has been a raging success for seven seasons and changed the sport of Formula One forever. But it appears there was one fairly important person who was left off the email chain before filmmakers turned up to follow Brisbane, with Lions coach Chris Fagan 'absolutely filthy' at how it played out. 'AFL staff themselves have now gone on the road with this production crew because they have ruffled feathers,' Caroline Wilson told The Agenda Setters on Monday night. 'But the really strong scenes took place at the Gabba. They (Prime) turned up the week of the Q-Clash, Chris Fagan was absolutely filthy, said he had no idea that they were coming on board, and had he known, he wouldn't have agreed to it. 'I think he agreed after a conversation with (footy boss) Danny Daly. Perhaps he hadn't really been paying attention, but I don't think he was thrilled. 'But they've left the Gabba now, they won't be back. 'They're at the Gold Coast — I think there was some dissatisfaction too at the Gold Coast, at how many players they wanted to get involved. Certainly Touk Miller's involved there. 'And interestingly, the Melbourne Football Club have become involved in recent days since the sacking of Simon Goodwin.' This will be Prime Video's second AFL series, having produced one from the 2020 season as well. The Test has been a huge success for cricket on Prime Video. Netflix's Full Swing, which is golf's version of Drive To Survive, has been a major success over its three seasons. Break Point, which was a similar show for tennis, was not received quite as well, and only lasted one series. Others include Tour de France: Unchained (cycling) and Quarterback (American football), which are both on Netflix.
