New Delhi [India], June 24 (ANI): The Telangana government confirmed on Tuesday that a total of 23 citizens from the state had been safely evacuated from conflict-hit regions in the Middle East as of 1:00 pm, June 23, according to the official statement.
The rescue efforts were carried out in close coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs and Indian Embassies abroad.
The latest group of 17 returnees arrived on Sunday. According to the official data, five people came from Masshad, Iran, one person arrived from Jordan via Iran, and eleven people came from Israel in two separate batches.
These numbers were in addition to six students, four from Iran and two from Israel, who were brought back on Saturday, raising the total to 23 evacuated citizens so far.
The evacuation process was closely monitored by Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and supported by the Telangana Bhavan helpdesk in New Delhi.
Staff at the Bhavan received and assisted all returnees, providing refreshments, coordinating on-ground activities, and helping with domestic travel arrangements.
However, all evacuees arranged their onward travel to Hyderabad at their own expense.
The Government of Telangana continued to work closely with national agencies to ensure more citizens could be safely brought back. A special focus remained on Israel, where outbound flight operations were affected by temporary airspace closures.
In an official release, the government said, 'The Government of Telangana reiterates its commitment to ensuring the well-being and safe return of every citizen. The helpline set up at Telangana Bhavan remains operational for real-time assistance and information.'
Further evacuations are expected later today, and officials will ensure continued monitoring and assistance. (ANI)

French tourist raped in Udaipur after being lured from party; accused absconding

JAIPUR A 30-year-old French tourist was allegedly raped in Rajasthan's Udaipur after being lured from a party by an employee of an event management company. The woman, who had arrived in Udaipur from Delhi on June 22, was staying at a hotel in the Ambamata area. On Monday night, she attended a party at a restaurant near Tiger Hills, where she met the accused, identified as Pushp Raj. According to the First Information Report (FIR), the accused engaged her in conversation and offered to show her around the city. 'He later took her to his rented apartment in Sukher locality, where he raped her,' it said. The victim said she repeatedly asked him to drop her back, but the accusedrefused. Her mobile phone had run out of battery, leaving her unable to call for help. The woman later admitted herself to a private hospital in Udaipur, where hospital staff alerted the police. She filed a formal complaint from the hospital, and a case was registered under Section 64(1) (rape) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at the Badgaon police station. Police officials stated that the French national is in stable condition and continues to receive medical treatment. The French Embassy in New Delhi has been informed of the incident. Police have launched a manhunt to arrest the accused, who is currently absconding. The Opposition Congress has warned of possible 'international ramifications', especially as the United States has already issued a travel advisory, urging caution to women travellers in six Indian States due to rising rape cases. The Congress stated that Rajasthan may soon be added to such advisories. 'Women feel unsafe' Veteran Congress leader and former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said the incident had exposed the deteriorating law and order situation in Rajasthan. 'Women across the State feel unsafe, but the Bharatiya Janata Party government remains indifferent,' he said.

Bihar is soul of India and birthplace of its philosophical foundation: Jagdeep Dhankhar

Muzaffarpur, June 24 (UNI) Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar today described Bihar as the soul of India and the birthplace of its philosophical foundation, recalling the state's glorious historical, intellectual, and constitutional legacy. Addressing a public gathering at the foundation day ceremony of Lalit Narayan Mishra College of Business Management here, Dhankhar said, "Bihar was once the global centre of learning, with Nalanda, Vikramshila, and Odantapuri being not just universities, but civilisations." Dhankhar highlighted the significance of Bihar, saying it is the land where Buddha attained enlightenment, Mahavira achieved spiritual awakening, and the philosophical foundation of India was born. He highlighted that ancient knowledge, social justice, and modern aspirations coexist in Bihar, which will fetch global recognition for the country. Referring to the Champaran Satyagraha launched by Mahatma Gandhi, Dhankhar said it turned the issue of farmers into a national cause and introduced a new grammar of governance based on truth, dignity, and fearless service. Dhankhar also spoke about the rich history of Nalanda University, which was a residential university with 10,000 students and 2,000 teachers, attracting scholars from across the world. He lamented the barbaric attacks by foreign invaders on Nalanda, particularly the burning of its library by Bakhtiyar Khilji in 1192. Discussing the National Education Policy 2020, Dhankhar said it aims to create skilled professionals, contented citizens, employment generators, knowledgeable humans, and build a country that reflects the collective aspirations of the nation. He emphasised that education in India has always been value-based and character-building, connecting with life values. Dhankhar also referred to the Emergency, terming June 25 as the darkest chapter of Indian democracy when the Constitution was "murdered". He praised Jayaprakash Narayan for lighting the flame of democracy and said the 'Total Revolution' was a call for national reawakening. UNI RS AKT SSP
