Keep state development above party politics
The pugnacious leader that he is, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy manages to make it to the headlines often. He is also a shrewd politician who knows it takes two to tango when it comes to developing the state. As a Congressman, his instincts are in sync with that of his party on several issues. Operation Sindoor just happens to be one of those where sensitivity may serve better than sinew. His barbs against the Centre fly like missiles, and his repeated comparison between Indira Gandhi and Prime Minister Narendra Modi resonate with Congress supporters. The other day, he sought to know from the PM how many Rafale fighter aircraft were lost in Operation Sindoor. Politically speaking, he may have thought of bolstering party leader Rahul Gandhi's attacks on the Centre. What is unquestionable is that he went a step farther than even his leader. Defence matters can be tricky material to use for polemics, especially right after a war. Questions do need to be asked, but in a non-partisan way. Reddy may feel himself politically justified in attending Jai Hind rallies, a counter to the BJP's Tiranga rallies. It should be seen within the context of what should be an integrationist moment, though it is unfortunate that both the national parties appear to be politicising Operation Sindoor. It is time to support the armed forces in one voice at a time when the shadow of conflict has not entirely lifted. Reddy may have no compunction in calling a spade a spade, but he is also keenly aware of the imperatives of running a state. Within a fortnight, he had a meeting with the Prime Minister, where he submitted a wishlist, and during that same period he was going for the BJP's jugular. Presumably, he knows how to find his way around a paradox.

Madiga MLAs intensify demand for Cabinet berth
Hyderabad: With high speculation of Cabinet expansion within days, the Madiga MLAs who have been urging for their due share, intensified their demand on Wednesday. The MLAs who have on several occasions represented matters at AICC level called on Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and also Meenakshi Natarajan, the AICC State incharge. The six MLAs who submitted their representation to CM, later met the AICC in-charge at MLA Quarters under the leadership of Adluri Laxman Kumar, the Dharmapuri MLA. While claiming that the Madigas be given proper representation in the Cabinet as per the proportion of their population in the State, they have been raising their pitch for the past few months. This development comes a day after the MLAs held a meeting, where they discussed their plan of action for pursuing the demand. This meeting was attended by Manakondur MLA Kavvampally Satyanarayana, Thungathurthi MLA Mandula Samuel, Chevella MLA Kale Yadaiah and Nakrekal MLA Vemula Veeresham, the latter two participated virtually. They have planned to meet AICC top brass including Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi and also KC Venugopal, while reminding them of the social justice norm of the party. They have intensified their demand following the speculation that Gaddam Vivek's name was under consideration, which represents the Mala community. For the past few months, particularly after the Congress government has passed the resolution 42 per cent BC reservation, the groups including Madiga, Lambada (ST) and besides BCs are fighting it out in favour of their respective communities in the cabinet.

Is RTI Act working in Telangana, wonders BJP
Hyderabad: BJP state spokesperson Rani Rudrama stated that during the ten years of BRS party rule in Telangana, the Congress party, which succeeded the BRS, has followed a similar path, weakening both government departments and the government machinery itself. Addressing the media on Wednesday, she pointed out that while the Congress party introduced the Right to Information (RTI) Act in India, it has not implemented the same laws now that it is in power in Telangana. 'Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy should clarify this,' she demanded. Rani Rudrama mentioned that on January 31, 'We applied with 27 questions in the name of our RTI consultant, Ganji Srinivasa Rao, on behalf of the BJP.' These questions were directed to the Office of the Special Chief Secretary of the Finance Department, specifically to the Public Information Officer, through the RTI Act. Rudrama noted that their RTI application had been submitted by March 31, but they received no response for a month. Consequently, the first appeal was submitted on March 12. 'After the appeal, we re-sent the 27 questions to the Finance Department with a request for additional details under the Right to Information Act.' However, it is unacceptable that their RTI request remained unanswered for 45 days, indicating that the RTI mechanism is not functioning properly in Telangana, where there are currently 16,000 pending applications. She asserted that if the ruling BJP at the national level could not get a response, what would be the fate of the average citizen? The Chief Minister, Finance Minister, and other leaders are spreading false propaganda by blaming the Centre without factual basis. The BRS party has taken loans, and now the newly-formed Congress government is also accumulating debt. 'We have requested information regarding these loans in our 27 questions, but we have yet to receive a response.'
