Female BBC rugby league pundit charged with sexually assaulting woman

Telegraph20-02-2025

A female BBC and Sky Sports rugby league pundit is due in court charged with sexually assaulting another woman.
Danika Priim, 40, a former Bradford Bulls, Leeds Rhinos and England player, who is now vice-president of the Rugby Football League, is accused of having 'intentionally touched a woman aged 16 or over' at Horsforth Cricket Club in West Yorkshire on July 22, 2022.
It is alleged Priim, of Keighley, West Yorkshire, assaulted the woman 'when she did not consent' and she 'did not reasonably believe' that the alleged victim was consenting.
Priim appeared before Leeds Magistrates' Court last week, where no pleas were entered during a hearing that ended with the case being sent to Leeds Crown Court. She is due to appear there on March 13.
Priim retired from playing in 2021 after winning every major domestic honour and featuring for England at the 2017 World Cup. She was subsequently named as part of the BBC team for the postponed 2021 tournament and covered the Olympic rugby sevens at the Paris 2024 Games.
She officially took up the post of RFL vice-president earlier this month, alongside new president Adam Hills, the comedian and television presenter who succeeded House of Commons Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle MP in the role.
Priim wrote in a LinkedIn post at the start of the year: 'A little late to the party but HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
'2024 I turned 40, left my job as a teacher and worked my dream job at the Olympics.
'I've developed my broadcasting skills and roles, hosted award ceremonies from a Concorde, had the privilege of going to so many events, openings and awards dinners!
'I became a TOP TRUMP and was asked to be the Vice President of the RFL (12-year-old fan girl Danika could never have even dreamed it)!
'I've worked with tennis icons, insane athletes and some of the most talented individuals behind the scenes of it all, some I now call close friends who continuously put up with my questions & queries!
'I've had the freedom to travel when I like and got to see so many live musicians!
'If 2025 is even a fraction of fun and success I'll be happy!!
'Here's to a healthy, happy, prosperous and bloody brilliant year for us all.'

Back-to-back matches to be introduced in revamped Women's Six Nations

A revamped Guinness Women's Six Nations will feature back-to-back matches on a single day in each round during the 2026 tournament. The 'Super Saturday' style format has been introduced to 'deliver the best possible fan experience' and 'optimise the audience of fans tuning in around the world'. Reigning champions England will launch their title defence on Saturday, April 11 against Ireland at Allianz Stadium Twickenham. Perennial runners-up France will host Italy in the opening match earlier that day before Scotland travel to Wales in the third game. Competition will conclude with a 'Super Sunday' on May 17, with England scheduled to visit France for a potential title decider in the final fixture. The Red Roses, who have won seven Six Nations titles in a row and are preparing for this year's home World Cup, will take on Scotland in round two on April 18 at Scottish Gas Murrayfield. John Mitchell's side will then host Wales a week later before travelling to Italy in round four on May 9. The tournament will begin four weeks after the final weekend of the men's championship, having previously started a week later. 'The new approach to the schedule has been built to deliver the best possible fan experience for those attending fixtures, and through collaboration between unions and broadcasters to meet and optimise the audience of fans tuning in around the world,' read a statement from organisers. 'Following Rugby World Cup 2025 in England later this year, and with interest for the women's game anticipated to be at an all-time high, the opportunity in front of women's rugby is huge, and as the biggest annual event in the women's rugby calendar, the Guinness Women's Six Nations is in pole position to drive momentum.' Anthony Joshua warned to avoid one opponent for comeback - 'He'd be flattened'

Anthony Joshua has not fought since he was wiped out by Daniel Dubois last September - but is eyeing a return to the ring later this year Carl Froch has told Anthony Joshua to avoid a rematch with Daniel Dubois like the plague. Joshua was knocked out in devastating fashion by his fellow Brit at Wembley last September as Dubois retained his heavyweight world title with a fifth-round stoppage. Joshua turned down the opportunity to immediately avenge his defeat and recently had surgery on his elbow which has delayed his return to the gym. ‌ Dubois will fight for the first time since last autumn when he rematches Oleksandr Usyk at the national stadium next month as he attempts to avenge his stoppage defeat by the Ukrainian two years ago. Joshua, meanwhile, is targeting a return later this year - potentially against Tyson Fury if his fellow Brit reverses his decision to retire. ‌ And Joshua has been advised to forget any desire he has to run back his clash with Dubois. 'Another fight with Daniel Dubois, forget it, Daniel Dubois, f***ing flattens him again," Froch said on his YouTube channel. "He can't beat Daniel Dubois, he will be frightened to death of getting hit on the chin, and when he does, he will be rendered unconscious again." Joshua has been coy about his next fight as Fury continues to insist he will remain retired having hung up his gloves in January following his second successive defeat by Usyk. Joshua has also been linked with a rematch with Dillian Whyte but he may instead take on rising star Moses Itauma in August. And Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn has revealed the Olympic champion could hang up his gloves as soon as next year. Hearn believes taking on long-term rival Fury is the one thing left for Joshua to do before calling it a day. 'Probably 2026 will be his last year in the sport,' Hearn said on The Ariel Helwani Show. 'I mean you never know, but thinking about it, it's probably three fights away. If I'm advising AJ I'm thinking, 'We're back this year, two Tyson Fury fights, what else is there to do?'. He maybe could fight a Daniel Dubois, but I think for me, once AJ fights a Tyson Fury, he's kind of done it all. 'I'd love him to have another crack at Dubois, I'd love him to have another crack at (Oleksandr) Usyk. If we get to 2026 and he's firing on all cylinders then 2026 won't be his last year. But for me, something feels right about beating Tyson Fury twice and then sailing off into the sunset.'
