McClure's ton leads Bexley to victory over St Lawrence
Ken McClure scored his first Kent League Premier Division century to help Bexley beat St Lawrence and Highland Court at home.
Having won the toss, the visitors may have had the weather in mind when they asked Bexley to bat first. Although the hosts were missing a potential three of their first four in the batting order, they made light of the absentees. Ellis Daly went early but overseas professional McClure joined Calum Basey and they took the score on to 71 before Basey fell four short of his half century in the seventeenth over.
Accurate bowling by former Kent all-rounder Darren Stevens, Thomas Copestake and John Grewar then strangled Bexley's middle order and at 124 for 4 from from 37 overs, they had work to do. However, McClure was still there and was joined by George Haley and they scored 74 from the next ten overs before the latter fell for 35 from 32 balls. McClure went on to complete his hundred before falling for 101 in the penultimate over. Twelve runs off the final over took the Bexley score to 236 for 7. Grewar ended with figures of 3 for 26 and Siddarthsinh Parmar 2 for 59.
It was then the turn of Harry Dowling and Fraser McWhinnie to put pressure on the St Lawrence top order. The former bowled a superb tight spell forcing the openers to take risks against the latter and the club's leading wicket taker this season claimed the scalps of Dan Stickels, Shineyu Anand and Will Hilton. After Syan Bulathinsatha had struggled initially, he started to look dangerous only to be run out by a Matt Stiddard direct hit for 29.
Stevens was stumped brilliantly down the leg-side by Ben Aldred off the bowling of Oliver Smith before Ellis Daly wrapped up the lower order, leaving Grewar stranded on 25 not out. McWhinnie ended with 3 for 27 and Daly 3 for 23. Although Dowling finished wicket-less, his seven overs only yielded nine runs as the visitors were bowled out for 123, 113 runs shy of their target.
Victory took Bexley up to third place in the early season table, one point behind Tunbridge Wells, and twelve behind Hayes, the only team to have won all three of their league matches so far.

Family affair: Chalobah brothers set to join exclusive England group
Trevoh Chalobah is hoping to make his England debut this evening when the Three Lions take on Andorra in World Cup qualification. Chalobah has been called up to the senior side for the first time, following an impressive season with Crystal Palace and Chelsea. The defender helped Chelsea to Europa Conference League success last season and is now pushing for an international debut. Should he feature, the Chalobah family will become just the third to have two brothers play for England since the Second World War. A total of 21 brothers have represented England, but just two post-war. Advertisement Jack and Bobby Charlton each featured as part of England's 1966 World Cup winning team. Centre-back Jack won 35 caps for the Three Lions, scoring six times. His younger brother, Bobby, won the Ballon d'Or after England's World Cup success. He retired with the then records as England's most capped player and highest goalscorer, having scored 49 times in 106 games for England. The second set of brothers to feature for England post-war are Phil and Gary Neville. Combined, the defensive duo won 144 caps for England. Chalobah will be hoping his international career lasts longer than elder brother Nathaniel, who featured for just six minutes on his sole appearance for England in 2018. Sunderland officially reject Borussia Dortmund bid for Jobe Bellingham.
Borussia Dortmund must prepare a new offer in their ongoing quest to acquire England U21 international Jobe Bellingham. Sky Germany reports that a BVB bid not exceeding €25m has been officially rejected by the newly promoted Premier League club. Sky notes that the Bundesliga outfit is quickly preparing another bid in order to conclude the transfer as soon as possible. The German broadcaster claims that a base-transfer-fee of €25m with around €5m in bonuses should be sufficient to get the deal done. Dortmund still wish to acquire Bellingham in time for the coming Club World Cup. The player himself is said to wish to participate in the tournament. Advertisement Given that Bellingham is among the England U21 nominees slated to compete in the UEFA U21 European Championship in Slovakia, Dortmund must get the matter sorted out in time to ply Bellingham away from England U21 head coach Lee Carsley's camp. Carsley's defending European U21 champions are set to contest their first tournament group stage fixture in just five days' time. GGFN | Peter Weis

Saka left out of England squad for Andorra match
Bukayo Saka has been left out of the England squad for Saturday's World Cup qualifier against Andorra. England boss Thomas Tuchel had to trim his matchday squad by three, with Atletico Madrid's Conor Gallagher and Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins, who's been carrying a minor injury, also missing out. Advertisement Speaking in Friday's press conference, Tuchel explained that Saka had only managed one full training session this week, so his omission is likely down to fitness concerns. The 23-year-old hasn't yet featured under Tuchel, having also missed the manager's first England camp in March while recovering from a hamstring injury that kept him out for over three months. It's still unclear whether Saka will be involved in the upcoming friendly against Senegal on 10 June. As for tonight's game, the Three Lions are expected to breeze past Andorra, who sit 173rd in the FIFA rankings, and make it three wins from three in their qualifying campaign.
