Silver Alert issued after 32-year-old goes missing in Winnipeg
The Winnipeg Police have issued a Silver Alert and are seeking the public's assistance in locating Alexa Smith, a 32-year-old woman who was last seen on Sunday morning near Harbison Avenue West and Watt Street.
Smith is white, 4'11, heavier build with short blonde hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a red T-shirt, beige sweatpants and light runners.
Kiana Pott, Smith's younger sister, says she is concerned about her.
"She sometimes is nonverbal. She doesn't talk much. She's good, but she's been in and out of the hospital for a little bit, so she could be going on a mental break right now and just wandered away," said Pott.
Smith's mother, Dana Smith, says the police have been looking for her daughter, but so far has not heard of any sightings of her.
A Silver Alert is activated when a vulnerable adult is reported missing.

Toronto police say they responded to reports that a male had been shot in the Mount Dennis neighbourhood, near Emmett Avenue and Jane Street, just after 10 p.m. on Saturday. They say when officers arrived they found a 15-year-old boy with a gunshot wound. The teen, who has not been identified, was taken to the hospital by paramedics where he was pronounced deceased. He is Toronto's 14th homicide victim of the year. The suspect, meanwhile, fled the area before police arrived there. Police have not provided a descrition of the suspect at this point. Det. Phillip Campbell told reporters at a news conference Sunday afternoon. 'What I can tell you is that the victim is a male in his teens.' Campbell said officers remain on scene canvassing for video, speaking with witnesses, and gathering evidence. The crime scene spans several residential blocks and includes York Humber High School. One person from the area told CTV News Toronto that they heard five gunshots. Another man said the shooting happened right outside his home near Jane Street and Weston Road. 'I (saw) some people screaming and running away,' he said. 'It was heartbreaking to see, (in) this area, never seen this before. Young people shooting rounds is terrible. (I'm) sorry for their families.' Local crime prevention advocate Sharon Joseph says more needs to be done to stop gun violence, especially involving young people. 'We need to have more mentorship for these young people. We know that there is a crisis but we only come when the crisis is happening, when it's active,' she said. 'After the crisis everybody (goes) back to normalcy, normal life.' Police say they're 'dedicating all necessary resources' to apprehending those responsible Investigators are assuring the public that they're 'dedicating all necessary resources to this investigation to find those responsible.' 'Members of the public who live in this neighbourhood can expect to see an increased police presence as we conduct our investigation,' Campbell said. 3 people in hospital following apartment fire in North York
Three people have been hospitalized following a fire in North York late Sunday morning, says Toronto fire. The blaze broke out at a highrise residence near Park Home Avenue and Beecroft Road, which is north of Sheppard Avenue West and west of Yonge Street, in Willowdale. Toronto police say they were called to that area just before 11 a.m. after receiving reports of a fire inside an apartment building. Toronto fire said the fire, which was uipgraded to a two-alarm incident but is now under control, appears to have started in an electrical panel. They added that 'heavy smoke migration' in the building lead to multiple ladder and interior rescues. Some tenants were evacuated as a precaution and TTC buses were brought in to provide shelter, said police, who added that the fire is not 'criminal in nature.' Road closures remain in effect on Park Home Avenue between Yonge Street and Tamworth Road, and on Beecroft Road.
