Knicks sign high-flying Japanese guard nicknamed 'Tokyo Drift'
Yudai Baba will suit up for the Knicks.
He's a Japanese star with two fun nicknames. One commentator in Australia nicknamed him "Tokyo Drift." And his signature move is known as the "Baba Boom."

Baba is 29 years old, and while he has played in the NBA G League, he has never reached the NBA. He most recently has played in Japan's top division. He also played college hoops in Japan.
Baba has won the Japanese top division title twice, and he was Final MVP in 2019.
He also won an NBL title in Australia in 2021.

In Baba's lone G League season (2019-20), he averaged 6.3 points per game.
Baba has been a consistent performer for the Japanese national team, too. His father was also a national team player in Japan.

The Knicks probably are just testing out an overseas possibility who will have a tough time making it through. But maybe if he throws down enough "Baba Booms," he'll have a chance.

Golden State Warriors jersey history - No. 19 - Bob Armstrong (1956-57)
The Golden State Warriors have had over 600 players don the more than 60 jersey numbers used by their players over the more than 75 years of existence the team has enjoyed in its rich and storied history. Founded in 1946 during the Basketball Association of America (BAA -- a precursor league of the NBA) era, the team has called home the cities of Philadelphia, San Francisco, Oakland, and even San Diego. To commemorate the players who wore those numbers, Warriors Wire is covering the entire history of jersey numbers and the players who sported them since the founding of the team. For this article, we begin with the seventh of 13 players who wore the No. 19 jersey for the Warriors. That player would be Golden State big man alum Bob Armstrong. After ending his college career at Michigan State, Armstrong was picked up with the 42nd overall selection of the 1955 NBA Draft by the (then) Rochester Royals (now, Sacramento Kings). The Detroit, Michigan native would end up sitting out the next season, and instead signed with the (then) Philadelphia (now, Golden State) Warriors for his only 19 games played in the NBA. During his time suiting up for the Warriors, Armstrong wore only jersey No. 19 and put up 1.5 points and 2.1 rebounds per game. All stats and data courtesy of Basketball Reference.

Boston Celtics jersey history No. 28 - Wayne Embry (1966-68)
The Boston Celtics have had players suiting up in a total of 68 different jersey numbers (and have three others not part of any numerical series) since their founding at the dawn of the Basketball Association of America (BAA -- the league that would become today's NBA), worn by well over 500 players in the course of Celtics history. To commemorate the players who wore those numbers, Celtics Wire is covering the entire history of jersey numbers and the players who sported them since the founding of the team. With 25 of those jerseys now retired to honor some of the greatest Celtics to wear those jerseys, there is a lot of history to cover. And for today's article, we will continue with the second of 14 people to wear the No. 28, Hall of Fame Boston big man alum Wayne Embry. After ending his college career at Miami, Embry was picked up with the 23rd overall selection of the 1958 NBA Draft by the (then) St. Louis (now, Atlanta) Hawks. The Springfield, Ohio native would play the first eight seasons of his pro career with the Cincinnati Royals (now, Sacramento Kings) after being dealt there before the start of his rookie season. That ended with a trade to Boston in 1966, where he would win a title in 1968. After the title, he was drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks in that year's expansion draft. During his time suiting up for the Celtics, Embry wore only jersey No. 28 and put up 5.8 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. All stats and data courtesy of Basketball Reference.
