Taormina To Fete Monica Bellucci With Special Award To Mark ‘Malèna' 25th Anniversary
EXCLUSIVE: Taormina Film Festival will present Monica Bellucci with a Special International Award and celebrate the 25th anniversary of Giuseppe Tornatore's Sicily-set drama Malèna in which she starred, at its upcoming edition later this month.
Bellucci will receive the honor at a gala event in Taormina's ancient amphitheater at which the film will be screened. The official poster of the Taormina Film Festival 2025 is also dedicated to Malèna.

The 2000 World War Two-set romantic drama stars Bellucci as a woman living on her own in a small Sicilian town, while her husband is away fighting, whose beauty and sensuality raises suspicion among the other townspeople.
Taormina described Bellucci as one of the 'most famous and fascinating icons of Italian and international cinema', praising her 'magnetic charisma, her innate elegance and a unique expressive intensity' and highlighting her credits such as The Passion of the Christ, Irreversible and Spectre.
'We are honored to welcome Monica Bellucci, one of the most beloved and representative interpreters of our cinema,' said Tiziana Rocca, Artistic Director of the Taormina Film Festival.
'Her talent and elegance have left a profound mark on works that have made history, and the 25th anniversary of Malèna is the perfect opportunity to celebrate her with the warmth of the Taormina audience. The Teatro Antico will be the ideal setting for this unforgettable tribute.'
Taormina Film Festival is an initiative organized by the Taormina Arte Sicilia Foundation, directly promoted by the Department of Tourism, Sport and Entertainment of the Sicilian Region, with the support of the MiC, Ministry of Culture – General Directorate of Cinema and Audiovisual.

Johnny Depp called himself a 'crash test dummy for #MeToo' in a sprawling new interview with The Sunday Times as he sets out to promote the U.K. theatrical release of his latest directorial effort, 'Modi: Three Days on the Wing of Madness.' Depp was referring to the allegations first leveled at him in 2016 by ex-wife Amber Heard, who accused him of domestic violence when she filed for divorce. Heard's allegations notably fed into two trials that garnered global attention. Depp brought a libel lawsuit against The Sun in 2018 after the publication referred to him as a 'wife beater.' The trial kicked off in summer 2020 and ended with the court determining that the characterization of Depp as a 'wife beater' was 'substantially true.' Later in the year, Depp exited Warner Bros.' 'Fantastic Beasts' franchise after saying the studio asked him to resign from the role in the aftermath of the trial. The 2022 trial was live-streamed on YouTube and became an online sensation. The jury ultimately ruled that Heard did defame Depp in the op-ed, while also ruling Depp defamed Heard in the course of fighting back against her charges. Over the course of the trial, shocking details about Depp and Heard's personal lives were revealed. 'Look, it had gone far enough,' Depp told The Sunday Times about the viral 2022 trial. 'I knew I'd have to semi-eviscerate myself. Everyone was saying, 'It'll go away!' But I can't trust that. What will go away? The fiction pawned around the fucking globe? No it won't. If I don't try to represent the truth it will be like I've actually committed the acts I am accused of. And my kids will have to live with it. Their kids. Kids that I've met in hospitals. So the night before the trial in Virginia I didn't feel nervous. If you don't have to memorize lines, if you're just speaking the truth? Roll the dice.' Depp said he survived 'all the hit pieces, the bullshit' that accompanied the trial, adding: 'Look, none of this was going be easy, but I didn't care. I thought, 'I'll fight until the bitter fucking end.' And if I end up pumping gas? That's all right. I've done that before.' A few years after the end of the U.S. trial, Depp is now getting the chance to come back to Hollywood by starring opposite 'Blow' co-star Penelope Cruz in the Lionsgate action comedy 'Day Drinker.' Joan Collins, 92, stuns fans with new picture of rarely-seen daughter Katy
Actress Joan Collins sparked a wholesome fan reaction on Sunday when she shared an ultra-rare photograph of her youngest daughter, Katy. In a celebratory birthday post shared to Instagram, the Dynasty star uploaded a beaming snapshot that showed the pair posing together at a round table. Dressed to impress, Joan, 91, looked radiant wearing a ruched coffee-hued top which she teamed with a cream blazer emblazoned with a pink and navy check pattern. The legendary TV star elevated her look with a wide-brim hat, pearlescent disc earrings and a statement pearl crucifix. "She was knocked down by a car and sustained very serious brain injuries and I was told that she was going to die. She was in a coma for a very long time," Joan said. Honestly, life makes me happy and I'm very aware of how lucky I am." Joan has been married five times in total; to Maxwell Reed, Antony Newley, Ron Kass, Peter Holm and Percy Gibson, to whom she has been happily married since 2002. Lovebirds Percy and Joan crossed paths in 2000 before going on to tie the knot in 2002. While Joan initially had no intention of remarrying, she felt an instant connection with her "soulmate" Percy and subsequently changed her mind. "It is my fifth marriage, and my happiest, and last" Joan previously told us. "Percy is wonderful, he's my soulmate. That doesn't mean we don't bicker but we are very understanding of each other."
