Charli xcx's' Brat reign continues, as she clears the decks at BRIT Awards
LONDON (AP) — Charli xcx's 'Brat' reign continues, as she cleared the decks at this year's BRIT Awards – the U.K.'s leading music awards show.
She won five awards at the 2025 Brits including artist, song and album of the year for 'Brat,' as well as the Songwriter of the year, which was announced ahead of the glitzy ceremony, in London Saturday. The awards come hot on the heels of Charli's wins at the Grammys last month, where she took the coveted Best Album.
Chappell Roan won Best International Artist and Best International Song. Fontaines D.C. won Best International Group.
The Cure received their first nomination in 30 years, for their deeply orchestral record 'Songs of a Lost World.' The Beatles were also nominated for the first time since 1977 for their first and only original recording of the 21st century.
Sabrina Carpenter took to the stage, performing a medley of her hits, including whimsical country track 'Please, Please, Please' - which she recently re-recorded with Dolly Parton. Carpenter was also the recipient of the Global Success Award – the first time an international artist has received the honor.
The show featured a tribute to the late One Direction member Liam Payne after the singer was found dead aged 31 last year.
Founded in 1977, the Brits have evolved from a rough-around-the-edges industry event to a slick showcase for U.K. talent that has boosted the careers of future megastars including Adele.
Myles Smith received the coveted Brits Rising Star award – following in the footsteps of Sam Fender and Adele. Speaking earlier in the week he said last year going to the BRIT Awards was a "dream" and it was great to be able to perform at the show knowing he has an award in his 'back pocket'
Other performances included Teddy Swims, The Last Dinner Party and Sam Fender.

Argentine President Javier Milei receives Israel's Genesis Prize
JERUSALEM (AP) — President Javier Milei of Argentina received the $1 million Genesis prize in Jerusalem on Thursday in recognition of his support for Israel as it faces a mounting international isolation over the war in Gaza. A statement from the Genesis Prize said Milei will donate the award to launch an initiative aimed at improving diplomatic relations between Israel and Latin American countries and fighting antisemitism in the region. It said the goal is to replicate the Abraham accords — a U.S.-brokered set of agreements aimed at winning broader recognition of Israel in the Arab world — with Latin American states. Breaking decades of policy precedent, Milei has gone further in his support of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's right-wing government than perhaps any other world leader, as Israel faces growing isolation over its bombardment and invasion of Gaza in response to Hamas-led attacks on Oct. 7, 2023. Milei also has pledged to move Argentina's embassy to Jerusalem, joining a handful of countries, including the U.S., to recognize the contested city as Israel's capital. Past laureates of the award include New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, actor Michael Douglas, billionaire Robert Kraft, entertainer Barbra Streisand and filmmaker Steven Spielberg.

Netflix just dropped a trailer for its new star-studded romantic comedy series — and it looks like a hilarious watch
If you're a Netflix subscriber and a romantic comedy fan, you might be primed to fall in love with the streamer's upcoming series, "Too Much." That's based on the trailer, which the streaming giant just dropped for Lena Dunham's star-studded new Netflix rom-com this week, and promises to show the messy realities of falling in love. Check it out below: The trailer tees up the connection between our two leads — workaholic and New York expat Jessica (Megan Stalter) and Felix (Will Sharpe), a singer and so-called "walking series of red flags" — and shows off the sense of humor and some of the misadventures you can expect to see when the show hits the streaming service this summer. I've described "Too Much" as a "star-studded" show, and for good reason. Dunham described her cast as "an embarrassment of riches" (via Tudum), and you can expect to see appearances from Andrew Scott, Richard E. We all know by now that Miss Sabrina Carpenter isn't a stranger to a risqué moment or two. The US pop star has soared through the charts and shot to main girl pop status over the past few years, thanks to her 2024 album Short N' Sweet, which featured the number one hits Espresso, Please Please Please and Taste. Since the album's release, Sabrina has gone viral on more than one occasion thanks to her cheeky on-stage innuendos, from her racy outfits and choreo to mimicking a different sexual position each night of her most recent tour during the song Juno. Her NSFW antics even sparked a flurry of Ofcom complaints this year in light of her suggestive Brit Awards performance, during which she suggestively crouched down in front of a winking backup dancer (who happened to be dressed as a royal guard). Now, she seems to have split the internet right down the middle after releasing the cover for her new album Man's Best Friend, which follows the new single Manchild.
