4-day Eid Al Adha holiday in UAE: Short-stay bookings among most popular

Khaleej Times2 days ago

With Eid Al Adha coinciding closely with final exams and the start of summer holidays, families across the UAE are adjusting their travel plans toward shorter, more meaningful getaways.
Fabien Chesnais, general manager at Mövenpick Resort Al Marjan Island, said the resort is witnessing a shift in booking patterns this Eid season.
"Compared to previous Eid seasons, there's been a noticeable increase in short-stay bookings of two to three nights," he said.
He noted that occupancy levels are reflecting this steady demand. "Last year, Ras Al Khaimah saw over 85 per cent occupancy during Eid. This year, we're forecasting over 90 per cent for the peak days, which shows sustained interest," Chesnais added.
The guest profile is broadening as well. 'We're seeing more young couples and extended families traveling together,' he said. "There's also a growing interest from regional travellers from Oman and Saudi Arabia, in addition to the strong domestic market from Dubai and Abu Dhabi."
Echoing this trend, Cameron Mcneillei, general manager at InterContinental Ras Al Khaimah Mina Al Arab Resort & Spa, pointed out that guest behaviour is shifting toward earlier bookings and longer stays.
"Compared to previous years, guests are booking earlier, seeking extended stays, and placing greater value on unique experiences that combine luxury, relaxation, and cultural authenticity," he explained.
UAE-based travelers, in particular, are showing strong interest in premium, luxury offerings. Mcneillei noted increased demand for beachfront villas, Club rooms, suites, and family-friendly accommodations. "Many residents are looking for a relaxing escape with luxury comforts, personalised service, and activities for all ages," Mcneilei said.
There's also an increase in early bookings and a need for flexible stay options. Mcneilei noted that guests are favoring nearby destinations like Ras Al Khaimah, which allow them to enjoy their holidays without the hassle of airport travel.

UAE, Kuwait sign multiple agreements to boost cooperation

The UAE and Kuwait have signed a comprehensive set of agreements aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation across sectors including AI, health, energy, education, defence and diplomacy. The agreements were formalised at Kuwait's Bayan Palace during the official visit of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court of the UAE. In the defence sector, UAE's EDGE Group signed a AED9 billion (US$2.45 billion) contract with Kuwait's Ministry of Defence for the acquisition of 'Falaj 3' class missile boats. It represents the largest naval shipbuilding export in the region and ranks among the most valuable naval exports globally. Additionally, Kuwait Real Estate Company, through its subsidiary IFA Hotels and Resorts, signed a AED198 million contract with UAE-based Darwish Engineering to execute infrastructure works for the Al Tay Hills residential project in Sharjah. Another agreement saw Kuwait Investment Authority joining the Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure Partnership along with MGX, BlackRock, Global Infrastructure Partners, and Microsoft, to boost AI infrastructure investment. The newly signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) also cover health, diplomacy, road and land transport infrastructure, social development, advanced technology, education, oil and gas, energy and investment. Several MoUs also address cooperation in combating human trafficking, legal cooperation, data protection and information exchange in joint security initiatives. These agreements reflect a shared commitment to expanding bilateral relations and fostering sustainable economic and technological development in both countries.
