How many games are Sixers projected to win in the 2025-26 season?

USA Todaya day ago
The Philadelphia 76ers will enter the 2025-26 season looking to get back on the path toward contention following a miserable 24-58 season in which injuries decimated the roster. When Joel Embiid, Paul George, and Tyrese Maxey are healthy, there is no telling what that roster can really do on the floor.
The front office focused on getting younger and adding more versatile pieces to the roster in the offseason and that's what they did. The Sixers selected VJ Edgecombe with the No. 3 overall pick and then brought in Trendon Watford, Jabari Walker, and Dominick Barlow in free agency as the Sixers wanted to get with the trend of where the league is going in terms of youth and depth.
Bleacher Report predicted how many games each team will win in the 2025-26 season and they believe the Sixers will finish 38-44:
When healthy, they should be considered a title contender (especially in the weakened East). Joel Embiid isn't long removed from an MVP nod. Paul George averaged 22.6 points and 3.3 threes, while shooting 41.3 percent from three, in his last season with the Clippers. And Tyrese Maxey was, at least statistically, a top 25-30 player in 2023-24 and a top 45-50 player during Philadelphia's injury-plagued 2024-25.
But given the age of George (35) and the injury history of Embiid, it's getting increasingly difficult to imagine anything but injury-plagued seasons for this core.
Sixty-plus appearances for either of those stars is unlikely. And ultimately, this campaign could turn into a developmental stage for Maxey, Jared McCain and incoming rookie VJ Edgecombe.
Everything will come down to health. No matter the additions the Sixers made, this comes down to whether Embiid and George will be out there on the floor because without them, this team is not a contender. If their injuries still limit those two, then the Sixers will have little chance, and the focus should be on developing their young guards in an effort to move forward into a new era.

Wisconsin safety Hunter Wohler leaves Colts' preseason game early with injury

Colts injury update: Rookie S Hunter Wohler out. What we know Former Wisconsin safety Hunter Wohler recorded two tackles during the Indianapolis Colts' NFL preseason Week 2 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Saturday. He played just one drive during the contest before leaving the game with a foot injury. The ailment halts the former Badger's rapid progress since joining the Colts. The former seventh-round pick (No. 232 overall) delivered a team-high nine tackles (six solo) during the Colts' preseason opener against the Baltimore Ravens last week. He was also a standout from the team's joint practice against the Ravens, notching two highlight interceptions, including one against two-time MVP Lamar Jackson. Wohler is currently listed as the Colts' backup strong safety behind three-year veteran Nick Cross. While the Former Badger's injury may put a temporary halt to his push for immediate playing time, his spot on the 53-man roster shouldn't be in question. At the very least, Wohler will be a day-one contributor on special teams. Stay tuned later this week as the severity of Wohler's foot injury is made clear. The immediate question is whether he'll be able to suit up for the Colts' preseason finale against the Cincinnati Bengals on Aug. 23. NBA views Thunder-Nuggets as rivals with 4 2025-26 regular season games on national TV

In arguably the best series in the 2025 NBA playoffs, the Oklahoma City Thunder passed their toughest test with a Game 7 win over the Denver Nuggets. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander bested Nikola Jokic in the battle of MVP candidates. The Round 2 series' consequences were heavier than most. The Thunder and Nuggets provided some of the best playoff basketball. A three-time MVP winner almost took down one of the greatest teams ever by himself. Instead, Gilgeous-Alexander did enough to carry his squad to the finish line. As the NBA released its entire 2025-26 regular season schedule, the Thunder and Nuggets will have all four of their matchups on national television. The Thunder are tied with the Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State Warriors and New York Knicks for the most national TV games this upcoming season at 34. The Thunder will travel to face the Nuggets on Sunday, Feb. 1. The game will be broadcast on NBC and Peacock. Next up, OKC will host Denver on Friday, Feb. 27. That will be shown on ESPN. The two meet again at Paycom Center on Monday, Mar. 9. That will be on Peacock. And finally, the Thunder travel to Denver on Friday, Apr. 10. That game will be on Amazon Prime. Considering it's the penultimate game of the regular season, there's a decent chance the game won't mean much by the time it rolls around. We'll see. Examining the schedule, the NBA believes the Thunder and Nuggets are a rivalry worth investing in. All four matchups being on national television prove that. It's an easy bet to make if you're the schedule-makers. Gilgeous-Alexander and Jokic have been the top two players over the last two seasons. That should only continue.
