Colorado Springs will also celebrate our nation's greatest athletes at the 2025 U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, taking place from July 10 to July 13. This festival, hosted at the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum, will allow fans to meet and interact with Hall of Fame athletes, hear their inspiring stories, and learn more about the legacies they've created. The museum will be announcing the inductees, and it's a great opportunity for fans to connect with the heroes of U.S. Olympic and Paralympic history.
Mayor Yemi Mobolade spoke passionately about the importance of these events for Colorado Springs. 'These events generate essential sales tax revenues that help fund vital city services such as public safety, infrastructure, and parks,' Mayor Mobolade said. 'The revenue generated by these events directly contributes to maintaining Colorado Springs' status as one of the most desirable, neighborly, and livable cities in the U.S.'
The Mayor told FOX21 News one of the reasons Colorado Springs is attracting more events than ever is the increased convenience and service capability of the Colorado Springs Airport. With new nonstop routes to international destinations, traveling to the city is easier than ever before, and these events are just a glimpse of the growing opportunities in the area.
FOX21 News will update this article throughout the evening with more reactions from local leaders.

Beckham Dempsey Commits To Colorado College
Dave Schwarz, dschwarz@ Boston Jr. Rangers goaltender Beckham Dempsey has committed to Colorado College, it was announced earlier this week. A product of Wayne, Ill., Dempsey spent this past season suiting up in the NCDC with the Jr. Rangers as well as with the NAHL's Minnesota Mallards. In one NAHL appearance, Dempsey did not collect a win or a loss but did not let in a shot. With Boston, he went 2-10-1 along with a 4.15 goals-against average and a .904 save percentage in 14 games. Advertisement Having made the jump to the junior level in 2023, Dempsey spent the majority of his time in the NCDC, suiting up for the Pueblo Bulls and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights alongside his time with the Jr. Rangers. In a total of 23 regular season games, he went 4-14-1 while putting up a 3.82 GAA and a .904 SP. With Dempsey off to join the Tigers, he may find it difficult to get playing time during his freshman season but did look solid in his time in the NCDC this year. Dempsey has good athleticism and puck tracking abilities, and if he is called upon this year, Colorado College can have confidence in him to step up.

Richard Bland won't defend U.S. Senior Open title due to LIV Golf commitment
The field for the 2025 U.S. Senior Open Championship is set with 156 players ready to tee it up in the fourth of five senior majors. But the event, being played at The Broadmoor's East Course in Colorado Springs, Colorado, is missing its defending champion. Richard Bland is that defending champion, but he's a member of LIV Golf, which has a rule that its golfers must always appear in its events. A year ago, LIV had an off week at the same time as the U.S. Senior Open. But not this year. He said in a statement: I'm incredibly proud of winning last year's U.S. Senior Open, a career highlight that I will always cherish. I'm fully committed to playing the 14-event LIV Golf schedule and honoring my opportunity with the Cleeks and the league, where my goal is to finish in the top 24 once again and secure my roster spot for next season. I wish the very best to this week's competitors at The Broadmoor. Bland won two senior majors last year, as he also claimed the 2024 Senior PGA Championship. He tied for 14th this season at the event that was held near the end of May.
