With the shutdown, RITBA has put detours in place, and 'most local traffic will use Route 195 and Route 24 through Fall River,' Mass., the agency said. Aquidneck Island is also accessible through Claiborne Pell/Newport Bridge that connects Jamestown and Newport.
'Drivers are advised to use navigation apps like Google Maps and Waze to get them to their destination,' RITBA said.
The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority will also detour bus routes 60 and 61x.
'Route 60 will not provide direct service between Providence and Newport while the bridge is closed,' RIPTA said. 'Passengers who need to travel between Providence and Newport should use Route 14 (West Bay) or Route 24L (Newport/Fall River/Providence). RIPTA will offer supplemental express trips on Route 14 after 7 p.m. while the bridge is closed.'

Meanwhile, Route 61x will travel the regular route 'the Fish Road Park & Ride, Portsmouth Park & Ride and then travel express to Providence; [and] reverse on outbound' service, RIPTA said.
'It will not serve Warren, Bristol, or Barrington on Friday,' the agency said.
Passengers should visit
According to turnpike and bridge authority officials, the agency has collaborated with Bristol town leaders and first responders 'to ensure good communication about the timing and detours.'
If there is severe weather, the project will be rescheduled to September.

Mt. Hope Bridge temporarily closes to all traffic on Aug. 14. How to navigate the detours.

The Mount Hope Bridge will close to all traffic on Aug. 14 at 7 p.m. and remain totally closed until Monday, Aug. 18 at 5 a.m. The Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority is closing the bridge, which connects Bristol and Portsmouth, so that it can be resurfaced. The project involves milling the road surface on the bridge and applying an overlay from curb to curb to create a smooth surface. Mt. Hope Bridge detour The Mt. Hope Bridge carries Route 114, which runs from Interstate 195 in East Providence south through Barrington, Warren and Bristol before crossing Mount Hope Bay via the bridge and continuing south onto Aquidneck Island through Portsmouth and Middletown before terminating in Newport at the intersection with Route 138. All vehicles, including emergency vehicles and Rhode Island Public Transit Authority buses, will have to seek alternate routes, such as Route 24 and I-195 through Fall River. Drivers can then take Route 138 all the way down to Newport. Alternately, drivers can access Aquidneck Island from the south via Route 138 and the Claiborne Pell Newport Bridge. How bus routes will be affected RIPTA's Route 60 bus, which usually travels over the Mt. Hope Bridge, will not provide direct service from Newport to Providence while the work is taking place, according to the agency. Passengers traveling between Newport and Providence should use Route 14 (West Bay) or Route 24L (Newport/Fall River/Providence). RIPTA will offer supplemental express trips on Route 14 after 7pm while the bridge is closed. Additionally, the Route 61x bus will not stop in Warren, Bristol or Barrington on Friday, Aug. 15th. More information about the detours and alternate routes can be found at This article originally appeared on The Providence Journal: Mt. Hope Bridge will temporarily close Aug. 14. Summer Goth, Pucci Princess, Beachside Birkin: The Unhinged Anatomy of Celebrity Vacation Style

What does Euro Summer mean to you? It could mean slipping on a tomato red sundress or a scarf over your pants and some added toe rings for flitting around Puglia, getting the same TikTok at the gelato stand or church step as everyone else on the FYP. Or, perhaps you're adding a hair kerchief to your flicky little bob to bop around Paris, sweating in line for croissant pistache and going mad at Google Maps because every bistro is closed for the holidays. Maybe, you're Greek island-hopping, ensconced mostly in bathrobes on a yacht, emerging to hit up Mykonos's clubstaurants in teeny bandage dresses that you might spill some late-night gyros on later. Maybe it's all internet slop that's flattening an entire continent and multitude of cultures into TikTok Shop buys—but I digress. In celebrity-land, summer 2025 has centered on the beach. Their job, for now, is beach. For Hailey Bieber, that meant taking over a Mallorcan beach club to celebrate her latest, lemon-inspired Rhode launch. Kylie and Kendall Jenner left behind the fug of Venice—and their archival Tom Ford gowns and Chanel sets—to frolic in the surf of Saint-Tropez. Jenna Ortega hasn't let the Wednesday press tour and her gothic wardrobe stop her from paddling on Bondi Beach in full Matrix mode either. Ibiza has also been a celeb-favorite setting, with Alaïa mesh flat-footed Dakota Johnson and Margot Robbie making sure to stop by the exclusive Jondal for a platter of langoustines and to serve some more hit-making looks with summer's most wanted pieces. Kate Moss arrived peak season on the Balearic island, without the chance to swap out her Birkin bag for a more beach-appropriate tote—no matter. Dua Lipa, of course, is maximizing her endless vacation and birthday celebrations. With an ever-expanding list of destinations and ever-more unhinged celebrity beachside style combos to digest, grab an Aperol Spritz and ponder what your celebrity vacation style of choice has to say. A presto! Kate Moss and her sandy beachside Birkin

Google Maps SEO in Lowestoft & Suffolk Coast Experts

Whether you're based in Lowestoft, Great Yarmouth, Beccles, or anywhere along the Suffolk coast, appearing in Google's Local Pack (the top 3 business listings shown on the map) can be a game-changer for attracting local customers. When someone searches for your product or service nearby, Google Maps is often their first stop – not just for directions, but to check reviews, compare services, and decide who gets their business. Ranking higher in Google Maps can mean: More phone calls and website visits Increased in-store visits from local shoppers and tourists A stronger reputation in your area Turning more searches into paying customers With competition across Suffolk growing, achieving one of those coveted top spots takes more than just having a business address – it requires strategic local SEO. How a Suffolk & Lowestoft SEO Agency Can Improve Your Map Ranking 1. Google Business Profile (GBP) Optimisation Your GBP is your online shopfront. A local SEO agency can: Claim and verify your listing Add complete, accurate details for each service location (Lowestoft, Great Yarmouth, Beccles, etc.) Choose the most relevant categories Post regular updates, offers, and photos to engage locals and tourists alike Keep your profile consistent with all other online listings 2. NAP (Name, Address, Phone) Consistency Across Locations Google values accurate and consistent details across the web. Your agency will ensure your NAP matches exactly – whether it's on your website, social media, or directories like Yelp, Bing Places, or Suffolk-specific listings. 3. Local Citations for the Suffolk Area Citations (mentions of your business online) from reputable local sites reinforce your authority. Your SEO agency will secure listings across Suffolk directories, tourism websites, and community pages for towns like Lowestoft, Great Yarmouth, and Beccles. 4. Review Management Across Multiple Towns Reviews drive trust – and rankings. A good local SEO partner will help you: Generate more positive reviews from customers in different locations Respond professionally to all feedback Use reviews to strengthen your credibility in every target area 5. Location-Focused Content & On-Page SEO Your website should clearly signal your relevance to Lowestoft and nearby towns. This means: Creating dedicated service pages for each target area Optimising meta tags, headings, and content for local keywords Embedding a Google Map for each physical location Writing blog posts about events, news, and topics relevant to Suffolk residents and visitors 6. Suffolk-Based Backlink Building Getting links from local newspapers, community blogs, and partner businesses strengthens your local authority. A targeted backlink strategy can help you gain visibility not just in Lowestoft, but across the wider Suffolk coast. 7. Ongoing Tracking & Adjustments Google's algorithms change regularly. A professional agency will monitor your keyword rankings, competitor activity, and Map Pack performance – adjusting your strategy so you stay ahead. Why a Local SEO Agency is the Smarter Choice Doing SEO yourself is possible, but it's time-consuming and easy to get wrong. An agency specialising in Lowestoft and the surrounding Suffolk area brings the tools, experience, and local insight needed to rank faster and more effectively. By outsourcing, you can focus on running your business – while experts make sure you're getting found (and chosen) by customers in every town you serve. Win Local Searches in Lowestoft and Beyond Whether your customers are in Lowestoft, Great Yarmouth, Beccles, or exploring the Suffolk coast, appearing in Google's top 3 map results can transform your local visibility. A local SEO agency can make that happen by optimising your profile, building your reputation, and strengthening your local signals – so that when people search, they find you first .
