Everything To Know On Pokémon TCG Pocket's New Expansion & Trading Feature

Yahoo29-01-2025

Pokémon TCG Pocket issues a warning players who break their ToS will be penalized as the new expansion and trading feature release this week.
Cheaters and scammers beware! Pokémon TCG Pocket developers Creatures Inc. and DeNA sent out a warning message this morning on taking action against players engaged in any inappropriate activity to jeopardize the integrity of the mobile game. This comes as an explicit warning to combat cheaters and scammers ahead of the new trading feature being added tomorrow (Tuesday, January 28th) and the new expansion Space-Time Smackdown releasing the day after.
As spotted by The Gamer, Pokémon TCG Pocket players just received an in-game message from the devs, outlining that devs could suspend accounts if they are caught using real money to trade. The notification should be under 'Messages' in the top-right area of the game app on the home screen. I have confirmed and saw the whole message today.
The main issues the devs pointed out involve players who 'engage in 'in data tampering, real money trading and other behaviour. This is amongst the players who violate anything outlined in their Terms of Service. Here is what the full message reads in the Pokémon TCG Pocket app:
'We are aware that some players have engaged in data tampering, real money trading, and other behaviours that violate the Terms of Use. If we confirm that a player has engaged in behaviour that violates the Terms of Use, we will warn them, suspend their account, or take other action. We will continue to strive to provide an environment where everyone can safely and comfortably enjoy their experience.'
To alleviate the pressures of participating in illegal real money trading, Pokémon TCG Pocket already shared how trading will work at launch. The new feature will use consumable items to trade cards and introduces a new currency. There are also limitations of trades such as only being able to trade between friends and not all rarities being included.
This is really good news to hear the devs have been putting security features in the game to combat some of the players who could exploit other players with the upcoming new features, and the expansion coming up. It is great that they have already caught players engaging in these activities and have worked out a solution so quickly.
As for the Space-Time Smackdown expansion, Pokémon TCG Pocket will be able to experience 140 new cards from the Sinnoh region. This will include legendary Pokémon Dialga and Palkia and makes it the second-biggest card set following Genetic Apex with 286 cards. Mythic Island was a lot smaller, with only 86 cards.
Another observation with this Gen 4 addition is that Dark, Dragon, and Steel-type Pokémon will be the primary focus of the two new packs in Space-Time Smackdown. Also, do not forget that players can grab rewards at Mcdonald's, too, with the latest launch of Pokémon Happy Meals!

Get a Free Marvel Rivals Future Foundation Skin and Hawkeye Skin in Season 2.5

Marvel Rivals season 2.5 is moving the Hellfire Gala afterparty to space -- our heroes are heading to the sentient planet Arakko to prevent Ultron's planet-exterminating plans from coming to fruition. Stopping a robot army is going to require a whole new wardrobe's worth of battle gear. Luckily for you, there are many ways to unlock some free skins in the hit hero shooter right now -- including a new seasonal pass that unlocks a free Mister Fantastic skin. This Combat Chest event is the debut of a secondary battle pass system in Marvel Rivals, and it's a fairly standard experience-based reward. Free-to-play gamers will be able to unlock sprays, emotes and other odds and ends but the big ticket item is the Mister Fantastic Future Foundation skin. Outside of the latest event, there are still other ways to earn free skins right now. Whether you're getting used to the new suite of team-up abilities or you're getting in more playtime on the latest addition to the Strategist roster by beaming down enemies with Ultron, season 2.5 has introduced a slate of free skins that you can use to deck out your favorite characters. Here's what you should know about the Combat Chest, the Cerebro Database Part 2 event and the rest of the free skin lineup at the beginning of Marvel Rivals season 2.5. The Combat Chest is a new type of battle pass -- it's a more traditional experience-based progression system. NetEase Games/Screenshot by CNET Get the Mister Fantastic Future Foundation skin during the first ever Combat Chest event A new type of experience-based battle pass launched at the beginning of season 2.5. The Combat Chest is a smaller, half-season battle pass that rewards consistent playtime over challenge completion. The free track contains one costume, while the premium Combat Chest (which costs 690 Lattice, or roughly $7) has two additional costume rewards. It contains 24 reward tiers and each reward tier requires 1,800 experience points to unlock. Players can earn a maximum of 7,200 experience points every day so it's theoretically possible to earn every Combat Chest reward in six days. The free Mister Fantastic Future Foundation skin is on tier 18 of the Combat Chest so it will take the most enterprising players four days to unlock the new addition to the body-bending hero's wardrobe. Premium skin rewards include Storm Ultimate Wind-Rider on tier 6 and Magneto Binary Sword on tier 24 of the Combat Chest. The first version of this shortened alternate battle pass will disappear July 11 at the end of season 2 but any players who purchase the premium version can continue unlocking any remaining tiers after that date. If you want to complete the Future Foundation skin collection, you'll have to hold your horses -- and get ready to shell out some cash. The Invisible Woman Future Foundation and Thing Future Foundation skins are included in an in-store bundle that will be released on June 13, and while we don't yet know how much they'll cost, you can expect to spend several thousand units on them. A Spider-Man Future Foundation skin is likely to appear sooner than later, but has not yet been officially revealed. Hawkeye is infected by Ultron's biomechanical virus in the new Binary Arrow skin. NetEase Games/Screenshot by CNET Get the Hawkeye Binary Arrow skin free in the Cerebro Database Part 2 event The Cerebro Database event is live now. It began with the launch of the season 2.5 patch on May 30 and ends on June 27. While this event is fairly easy, the presentation might confuse some players. As with any Marvel Rivals event, you'll need to complete challenges to earn rewards. In this event, though, each featured character (Iron Man, Black Widow, Magneto and Ultron) has nine unique challenges arranged in a 3x3 board. The new Cerebro Database event plays out just like the previous one -- including the annoying time-gated challenges. NetEase Games/Screenshot by CNET You don't need to complete all 36 challenges to receive all of the event rewards. Instead, you need to complete enough challenges to make three separate horizontal, vertical or diagonal lines on all four boards to finish the event. Basically, you're playing tic-tac-toe to quickly make three lines on all of the boards to earn your rewards as efficiently as possible. Like most Marvel Rivals events, several characters' boards are time-gated, which means that the most enterprising players have only been able to unlock the Hawkeye Binary Arrow skin starting on June 11. If you aren't gunning to complete all four sets of challenges, you can still earn Chrono Tokens, units, sprays and gallery pages. How can I get free skins during Marvel Rivals season 2.5? Players who link their Twitch account to their Marvel Rivals account right now can nab a free Emma Frost skin. But if you only care about rewards you can earn in-game, a different Emma Frost skin and an Ultron skin are available by progressing through the competitive ladder and new Iron Fist and Magik looks are available free on the season 2 battle pass. The immortal Iron Fist goes toe-to-toe with Doctor Strange in his new free battle pass skin. NetEase Games/Screenshot by CNET What Marvel Rivals skins are available free right now? Space and defense tech firm Voyager raises $382.8 million in IPO

Voyager Technologies raised $382.8 million in its U.S. initial public offering, the space and defense tech company said on Tuesday, amid a global rush to amp up military spending. The company, which provides mission-critical space and defense technology solutions, along with some investors sold roughly 12.35 million shares at $31 per share, above its marketed range of $26 to $29. The offering is the latest in recent weeks as the U.S. IPO market regained its footing after being restricted by tariff-driven volatility. The Denver, Colorado–based company's IPO comes as President Donald Trump's administration looks to sharply increase spending on defense and space projects. Trump last month selected a design for his $175 billion Golden Dome project, a next-generation U.S. missile defense shield. The stock will trade on the New York Stock Exchange on Wednesday under the symbol 'VOYG'. Morgan Stanley and J.P. Morgan are the lead underwriters on the listing.

US warfighters are losing a massive force multiplier advantage as China advances in space

U.S. dominance in space has long served as a massive force multiplier for the American warfighter. Today, that dominance is increasingly powered by commercial space companies delivering advanced technologies—from daily Earth observation images to satellite-based internet and global telecom networks. These capabilities help our troops navigate, detect, and act faster than adversaries. But as global tensions escalate, American leadership is at risk—from both foreign adversaries and shortsighted decisions at home. During a May 14th hearing, Rep. Seth Moulton warned that the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) had reportedly slashed funding for commercial satellite imagery in the next fiscal budget. These proposed cuts aren't just a threat to the warfighter and our national security—they also jeopardize the viability of the U.S. commercial space sector. From battlefield targeting to situational awareness, today's missions increasingly rely on persistent commercial satellite coverage. Weakening that capability leads to slower decisions, reduced effectiveness, and greater risk for U.S. and allied forces. These cuts threaten to undermine our intelligence capabilities and weaken our edge in the global space race. China is wasting no time. Chang Guang Satellite Technology Co. (CGST), a Chinese government-funded commercial imaging company, operates over 100 satellites and an advanced communication architecture, and is positioning itself to disrupt markets, shape global norms, and collect intelligence at scale. This represents a significant advancement in China's satellite imaging and communication capabilities, and according to Western intelligence officials, Chinese commercial satellites have been used by Russia to image critical Ukrainian infrastructure, including nuclear power plants, in preparation for missile strikes. This is part of a troubling trend: authoritarian regimes are weaponizing commercial space faster than we are defending against it. Ironically, our allies and partners often adopt these American-made technologies faster than our own government. Allied defense agencies are incorporating U.S. commercial imagery and analytics more effectively than the very agencies that helped develop them. The RAND Corporation recently cited Ukraine's use of U.S. commercial space technology as an asymmetric advantage over Russia. Their report concluded: "U.S. policymakers should continue developing robust contract arrangements with commercial space providers." Yet less than 1% of combined Department of Defense and Intelligence Community budgets are spent on commercial space. Even senior intelligence officials recognize the problem. Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard recently noted that government agencies often reinvent tools the private sector has already developed more efficiently. Although commercial satellites generate terabytes of data daily, the government uses only a fraction. Decision-makers at NRO and the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) still prioritize bespoke, classified satellites that take years to build and cost exponentially more than comparable commercial alternatives available now. They also create large, vulnerable targets for adversaries, while dual-use capabilities are far more practically and perceptively resilient. After the Cold War, America took its space dominance for granted and came to rely on Russian rockets to transport American astronauts. We can't afford to make the same mistake with commercial satellite technology. While bipartisan support for commercial space innovation exists, it must now be matched with decisive and sustained investment. Instead of cutting vital initiatives, successful programs like the Electro-Optical Commercial Layer (EOCL) must be safeguarded and expanded. Procurement processes must be modernized across defense and intelligence agencies to keep up with fast-moving private-sector technologies. That means sending a clear, consistent demand signal—not the instability of continuing resolutions or last-minute reversals. Cutting support for commercial space assets also contradicts President Trump's national security priorities. The president has accurately recognized space as "the next war-fighting domain." His administration has supported private-sector innovation and issued executive orders favoring commercial-first procurement. But rhetoric isn't enough—we need structural reform. Congress often funds commercial programs only for agencies to "reinterpret" the intent and redirect resources toward building bespoke government systems. This raises a critical question: does it make sense to house commercial funding inside agencies that are institutionally incentivized to build their own satellites? Congress should consider placing these funds in neutral entities that can acquire and deliver commercial capabilities across government. Agencies can focus on the exquisite systems only they can build, while commercial providers offer scalable, persistent solutions that adapt quickly to battlefield needs. In his second term, President Trump has a historic opportunity to usher in another era of American space dominance—while giving the warfighter the tools and information they need. But this future hinges on a thriving commercial space sector supported by smart, forward-thinking policy. Leaders in Washington must decide: will they let outdated thinking keep the world's best space technology off the battlefield—and allow China to seize the upper hand? Or will this White House break free from business-as-usual, invest in American commercial space capabilities, and secure our leadership in the most critical domain of the 21st century? The answer should be obvious—and it is imperative.
