Pokemon TCG Pocket's Triumphant Light Expansion Spotlights Pokemon God
Pokemon TCG Pocket's developer, DeNA, released the massive Space-Time Smackdown set at the end of January -- but apparently they don't want to rest on their laurels. The next trading card expansion arrives in-game on Feb. 28, 2025. Triumphant Light will focus on the mythical God of Pokemon, Arceus, which was introduced in the generation four Pokemon games Diamond, Pearl and Platinum. This set releasing so soon after the previous drop is no coincidence: Space-Time Smackdown was themed around generation four, making Triumphant Light a natural extension of the Dialga and Palkia-themed release. Here's everything we know about Triumphant Light, including the set size and what cards will be featured in the booster pack. The new Pokemon TCG Pocket expansion is a companion to the recent Space-Time Showdown set, introducing more generation four Pokemon into the popular mobile game. Whereas Space-Time Smackdown was a massive 155-card set, Triumphant Light will be a more focused, pared-down expansion -- the number of cards being added is more akin to the Mythical Island pack drop. Mythical Island was themed around Mew and Celebi, and Triumphant Light is themed around Arceus. These smaller expansion sets focus on mythical Pokemon that didn't get to shine in larger set drops. This establishes a sort of trend for the mobile trading card app. The first card set, Genetic Apex, was bolstered by Mythical Island right when the hype started to die down and players were running out of new cards to pull. Now that some of the luster has worn off from the Space-Time Smackdown set, the Triumphant Light expansion will revitalize new pulls. Pokemon TCG battling isn't all about brute force and picking attacks with the highest damage numbers. It's also about utilizing special effects to get a leg up on your opponent when they least expect it. Aside from Arceus Ex, several cards were shown off in the expansion trailer that have a special connection to the mythical Pokemon emblazoned on the pack art. Tyranitar, Abomasnow, Rotom, Raichu and Crobat cards all have Pokemon Abilities that buff them if Arceus or Arceus Ex is in play. We also caught a glimpse at new Croagunk, Unown, Garchomp Ex and Shaymin cards -- Shaymin and Unown have Pokemon Abilities of their own, though they aren't connected to the presence of Arceus on the playing field. Each new set in Pokemon TCG Pocket has focused on a specific mechanic from the trading card game. Mythical Island was all about supercharging the energy economy and Space-Time Smackdown added Pokemon Tools. It looks like Pokemon Abilities will be the next mechanic to get a chance to shine in the new expansion released on Feb. 28, 2025.

Pokémon TCG Pocket's Next Set Leaks Making Fans Anxious About Having Even More Cards To Collect
It's only been a month since Pokémon TCG Pocket's Diamond and Pearl-inspired Space-Time Smackdown expansion released, and it looks like the mobile card game's next set of cards is already here. A promo for a set called Triumphant Light, starring the god Pokémon Arceus, appeared to leak overnight. Now fans with unfinished collections are already freaking out about all of the new cards they'll need to collect. That anxiety is a natural part of Pokémon TCG Pocket, a game with battle and trading mechanics that remains predominantly focused on the joy and frustration of opening digital card packs to complete full sets. I was personally feeling pretty good in early December when I had most of the Genetic Apex launch set finished, outside of some super rare cards. Then Mythical Island dropped later that month, followed by Space-Time Smackdown in late January. My virtual card binder is now full of holes, and Triumphant Light will only make that worse. The set was referenced in a now-deleted promotional video on TikTok that showed a new Arceus EX card with 140HP and the abilities Fabled Luster and Ultimate Force. The god Pokémon was at the center of 2022's Pokémon Legends: Arceus and the rest of the set will seemingly take inspiration from the Hisui region's past. We'll know better once the set is likely revealed in full during the February 27 Pokémon Day showcase. 'I'm hoping this fake cause ppl need time to get the cards from other sets still,' wrote one player on X. It definitely doesn't seem fake, but I share the rest of the sentiment. I've fallen off Pokémon TCG Pocket pretty hard in recent weeks, in part because it feels like my pulls in Space-Time Smackdown have been demonstrably worse on average than when the game first came out. I'm not getting as many of those dopamine bursts from finding rare cards, and my list of Wonder Picks to choose from has been pretty garbage too. Maybe a better battle meta can fix some of that malaise. In addition to the new set, one leaker is also claiming that a ranked mode is coming in March. Competitive play has been requested since launch, and it would certainly give players something new to grind for, especially if there are decent rewards for hitting new ranks besides just bragging rights or trophy emblems. Though some players are already cracking jokes. 'Competitive coin flipping,' wrote one fans. 'What a time to be alive.' One thing we do know is that Pokémon TCG Pocket will not be part of the Pokémon World Championship anytime soon. 'At this time there are no plans for Pokémon Pocket to join, but we're always looking at things,' director of esports for the franchise Chris Brown said in an interview last week. . Everything To Know On Pokémon TCG Pocket's New Expansion & Trading Feature
Pokémon TCG Pocket issues a warning players who break their ToS will be penalized as the new expansion and trading feature release this week. Cheaters and scammers beware! Pokémon TCG Pocket developers Creatures Inc. and DeNA sent out a warning message this morning on taking action against players engaged in any inappropriate activity to jeopardize the integrity of the mobile game. This comes as an explicit warning to combat cheaters and scammers ahead of the new trading feature being added tomorrow (Tuesday, January 28th) and the new expansion Space-Time Smackdown releasing the day after. As spotted by The Gamer, Pokémon TCG Pocket players just received an in-game message from the devs, outlining that devs could suspend accounts if they are caught using real money to trade. The notification should be under 'Messages' in the top-right area of the game app on the home screen. I have confirmed and saw the whole message today. The main issues the devs pointed out involve players who 'engage in 'in data tampering, real money trading and other behaviour. This is amongst the players who violate anything outlined in their Terms of Service. Here is what the full message reads in the Pokémon TCG Pocket app: 'We are aware that some players have engaged in data tampering, real money trading, and other behaviours that violate the Terms of Use. If we confirm that a player has engaged in behaviour that violates the Terms of Use, we will warn them, suspend their account, or take other action. We will continue to strive to provide an environment where everyone can safely and comfortably enjoy their experience.' To alleviate the pressures of participating in illegal real money trading, Pokémon TCG Pocket already shared how trading will work at launch. The new feature will use consumable items to trade cards and introduces a new currency. There are also limitations of trades such as only being able to trade between friends and not all rarities being included. This is really good news to hear the devs have been putting security features in the game to combat some of the players who could exploit other players with the upcoming new features, and the expansion coming up. It is great that they have already caught players engaging in these activities and have worked out a solution so quickly. As for the Space-Time Smackdown expansion, Pokémon TCG Pocket will be able to experience 140 new cards from the Sinnoh region. This will include legendary Pokémon Dialga and Palkia and makes it the second-biggest card set following Genetic Apex with 286 cards. Mythic Island was a lot smaller, with only 86 cards. Another observation with this Gen 4 addition is that Dark, Dragon, and Steel-type Pokémon will be the primary focus of the two new packs in Space-Time Smackdown. Also, do not forget that players can grab rewards at Mcdonald's, too, with the latest launch of Pokémon Happy Meals!
