Caitlin Clark shove results in upgraded foul for Marina Mabrey, fines but no suspensions after Fever, Sun scuffles
The WNBA issued additional punishments Wednesday following multiple incidents involving Indiana Fever and Connecticut Sun players during Tuesday's game. Sun guard Marina Mabrey had her technical foul upgraded to a flagrant 2 after shoving Fever star Caitlin Clark to the ground. Mabrey will also receive a fine for her actions. Advertisement Sophie Cunningham — who received a flagrant 2 after a hard foul in the game's final minute — was also hit with an additional fine Wednesday. Despite both incidents, the WNBA did not issue any suspensions. The Mabrey incident occurred with just under five minutes to play in the third quarter. With Clark in possession of the ball, Jacy Sheldon poked the Fever star in the eye. Clark shoved Sheldson away after the play, resulting in Mabrey entering the fray and shoving Clark to the ground. After a brief stoppage, Sheldon received a flagrant 1 foul. Clark, Mabrey and Sun center Tina Charles all received technical fouls for their involvement in the scuffle. Advertisement Cunningham's hard foul came later in the contest. In the final minute, Cunningham was assessed a flagrant two for pulling Sheldon to the ground. Cunningham's actions caused a massive swarm of players to form under the basket, though no punches were thrown. This story will be updated.
