Cherokee County sheriff and FBI team up for crime probe
The partnership will allow the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office to assign one of its deputies as an FBI Task Force Officer. That deputy will be assigned to investigate criminal activity within Cherokee County while working with other law enforcement agencies.
It's part of the FBI Safe Streets Task Force Program, which focuses on identifying and targeting criminals and groups accused of serious felony offenses. The goal is to prioritize investigations so they can be brought before prosecutors while giving investigators all resources available to local and federal law enforcement agencies.
'Because that's what we're after. Again, is just create a better quality of life for the citizens and visitors that come here to see Cherokee County, where we would like to completely end crime. But we know that's not potential. But if we can reduce it and show the people that are thinking about committing a crime, that there's consequences for their actions,' said Brian Henderson.

Power-Crazed Trump Threatens to Deploy Troops in More Cities
President Donald Trump will deploy the National Guard, take control of the police force, and assign FBI agents to fight street crime as he attempts another power grab in Washington, D.C. Despite crime falling in the nation's capital, the president said on Tuesday that he wants to 'liberate' the district from crime, vowing to allow police to 'do whatever the hell they want' if provoked. 'You spit, and we hit—and they get hit real hard,' Trump said, insisting that crime in Washington is worse than the streets of Baghdad, Mexico City, and Bogota, Colombia. Under the plan, Attorney General Pam Bondi would be put in charge of the Metropolitan Police Department, which is currently run by the D.C. mayor's office and the chief of police. Trump has also declared a public safety national emergency, asked unhoused residents to leave, and pledged a much broader army presence. He has not ruled out deploying the Army to other cities. 'It's become a situation of complete and total lawlessness,' Trump said, flanked by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Attorney General Pam Bondi, FBI director Kash Patel, Interior Minister Doug Burgam and former Fox News host turned DC Attorney General Jeanine Pirro. 'It's time for dramatic action.' The move puts Trump one step closer to something he has touted for years: 'federalizing' Washington by consolidating political and bureaucratic power over all tiers of government. But the move is likely to prove contentious, with DC Mayor Muriel Bowser, who has been at pains not to agitate Trump since he returned to the White House, pointing out that crime is actually falling. According to the latest police figures, crime in DC has fallen by 26 per cent overall this year. Homicides are down 12 per cent compared to 2024; robberies are down 28 per cent and assault with a deadly weapon has fallen by 20 per cent. 'We are not experiencing a spike in crime; in fact we are watching our crime numbers go down,' Bowser told MSNBC this weekend. Trump's announcement is the first time he has appeared with Bondi since the fallout from the Epstein scandal escalated last month. Critics have also noted that Trump himself is a convicted felon, after being found guilty last year of 34 counts of falsifying business records to cover up a sex scandal with a porn star. His announcement comes as the White House considers re-classifying marijuana as a less dangerous drug - something that could send mixed messages in view of the president's vow to crack down on drugs and crime in DC. But tensions escalated last week after one-time DOGE operative, Edward 'Big Balls' Coristine was violently bashed at Dupont Circle at around 3 am on August 3 - an assault Trump highlighted to justify his latest push to take over the city. Two suspects, a 15-year-old male and a 15-year-old female, have so far been arrested and charged with unarmed carjacking, and photos of another person of interest has been released by police. After the assault last week, Trump ordered a range of federal law enforcement agencies to deploy onto DC streets over the weekend. Among them were officers from the Drug Enforcement Agency, the United States Capitol police, the Federal Protective Service, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. During his Monday morning press conference, Trump described DC as a city 'overtaken by violent gangs and bloodthirsty criminals, roving mobs of wild youth, drugged out maniacs and homeless people'. 'Let me be crystal clear: crime in DC is ending today,' said Bondi, who has kept a low profile for the past few weeks. 'We are going to use every power we have to fight criminals here.' Pirro added that she wants to 'change the law' to bring charges against youth criminal defendants, while Hegseth said members of the national guard will be 'flowing' into the capital over the coming week. JD Vance unwittingly sparks new wave of calls to release the Epstein files in Fox interview
Vice President JD Vance's latest attempt to shift the narrative away from the Jeffrey Epstein furore over the weekend has only succeeded in inspiring fresh calls for the release of all federal files on the late pedophile. Appearing on Fox News's Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo, Vance sought to kill off the uproar that has raged ever since the Justice Department and FBI ruled in early July that the deceased sex trafficker left behind no 'client list' and died by suicide in August 2019. That verdict enraged President Donald Trump's supporters, who continue to demand answers and allege a 'cover-up' to protect influential people. 'I have to say, Maria, I laugh at the Democrats who are now all of a sudden so interested in the Epstein files,' the VP told Bartiromo on Sunday. 'For four years, Joe Biden and the Democrats did absolutely nothing about this story. We know that Jeffrey Epstein had a lot of connections with left-wing politicians and left-wing billionaires. 'And now President Trump has demanded full transparency from this. And yet somehow the Democrats are attacking him and not the Biden administration, which did nothing for four years.' Vance's comments only succeeded in reviving calls for full disclosure on Epstein after a clip of the interview was circulated on social media. 'Fine. Release all the files,' wrote Defending Democracy's director Bill Kristol. 'With victims and survivors' names and PII redacted. But no redactions of clients, enablers, and see-no-evil associates.' 'The thing about people on that list that bothers me is not their political leanings or their bank account,' said newspaper columnist Brigitte Pellerin. 'Donald Trump's name is in the Epstein files and JD Vance has been plotting with the AG and FBI Director to cover it up,' alleged Pod Save America host Jon Favreau. 'Release the names! Democrats, Republicans, billionaires, or not. What are you afraid of, JD Vance?' Trump continues to face questions about his past friendship with Epstein, but has not been accused of any wrongdoing and is currently suing The Wall Street Journal for reporting that he once sent the sex offender a 'bawdy' doodle for his birthday. It has been reported that the president was briefed by Attorney General Pam Bondi, who stated that his name appears in the files, but this does not imply misconduct. Trump is known to have become increasingly frustrated at the story's continued dominance of the news agenda over the past five weeks and has even lashed out at members of his conservative coalition for obsessing over Epstein. 'Look, the whole thing is a hoax,' he declared impatiently in the Oval Office last week. 'It's put out by the Democrats because we've had the most successful six months in the history of our country. That's just a way of trying to divert attention to something that's total bulls***.' His attempt to dismiss the matter did not satisfy conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, for one, who commented: 'Trump's disastrous handling of the Epstein firestorm last month was starting to die down and now he has let the corporate media bait him into re-launching a new Streisand effect.' Jones was referring to the phenomenon through which a public figure's efforts to suppress an unwanted story only succeed in drawing more attention to it.

Democratic whistleblower told FBI that Adam Schiff approved classified leaks to target Trump
A Democratic whistleblower told the FBI that Adam Schiff approved leaking classified information in order to discredit President Donald Trump, according to newly-released documents. The documents, which were obtained by Just The News, were recently handed over to Congress by FBI Director Kash Patel. The whistleblower reportedly worked for Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee for over ten years, and reported Schiff's alleged behavior to the FBI in 2017. According to the report, the intelligence staffer called the leaking "treasonous" and "illegal," in addition to being unethical. He was most recently interviewed by the FBI in 2023. The staffer also said that he personally attended a meeting where Schiff greenlit the leak. "When working in this capacity, [redacted staffer's name] was called to an all-staff meeting by SCHIFF," the documents state, per Just The News. "In this meeting, SCHIFF stated the group would leak classified information which was derogatory to President of the United States DONALD J. TRUMP. SCHIFF stated the information would be used to indict President TRUMP." "[The whistleblower] stated this would be illegal and, upon hearing his concerns, unnamed members of the meeting reassured that they would not be caught leaking classified information," the report added. John Solomon, who co-authored the piece with Just The News' Jerry Dunleavy, appeared on Fox News Channel's "Hannity" to discuss the report. "This is the first of several major leak investigations we're going to see over the next several days," Solomon said. "You're going to see other major people that were clearly identified by the FBI, having leaked classified secrets." "Their own staff turned them in when interviewed by the FBI. Nothing, again, happened," he added. "It's a common pattern. The question now is, in Donald Trump's Justice Department, does that dynamic change?" Soon after the report was published, Patel shared it on X, saying that the FBI "found it [and] declassified it."
