Josh Freese lists 10 reasons he got fired from Foo Fighters

Yahoo20-05-2025

Ex-Foo Fighters drummer Josh Freese has shared a list of 10 reasons why he might have been fired from the band.
Freese announced he had been booted last Thursday, sharing that the band had done so with the "non-explanation" that they'd decided to go in a different direction. "No reason was given."
Freese, who has played with a who's who of artists from Sting and Guns N' Roses to Nine Inch Nails and Weezer, said he was "shocked and disappointed" by the decision, but added, "Stay tuned for my Top 10 possible reasons Josh got booted from the Foo Fighters' list."
The promised list included: "Once whistled My Hero for a week solid on tour"; "Never even once tried growing a beard"; and "could only name one song" by Grohl's hometown heroes, Fugazi.
He also revealed he'd promised Noodles, his former bandmate in the Offspring, that he could be the Foos' fourth guitarist. ("But you promised!" Noodles joked in the comments.)
After months of speculation, Freese joined the band officially in May 2023 in the wake of longtime drummer Taylor Hawkins' sudden death while the group was on tour in South America.
The Foos have kept a relatively low profile in recent months, and have just one upcoming show on the books, an October date in Singapore.

Jay Wright colleague reveals former Villanova coach's chances of taking Knicks job

Tom Thibodeau was shown the door, setting the potential stage for Jay Wright to again coach his former star players at what has been called 'The Villanova Knicks.' Well, not so fast, according to Wright's CBS colleague Seth Davis. Advertisement 'I have been working with Jay Wright on TV for three years,' Davis wrote in an X post Tuesday. 'Based on every conversation we have had, I would say there is a greater chance that I will be the next Knicks coach than him. The difference is if they call me, I will say yes.' Davis, a CBS studio analyst since 2003, has been working with Wright since 2022 after the coach retired following 21 seasons at Villanova. 3 Jay Wright sits alongside Jalen Brunson to retire the Villanova legends jersety. Wright responded to a question about his dream job on 'Pardon My Take' in 2020 and said 'the Knicks,' but added 'we're kidding, of course.' DraftKings oddsmakers have set Wright as a long shot to be the Knicks' next coach, although The Post's Stefan Bondy has said the sportsbook's leader, ex-Nuggets coach Michael Malone, is not an option. Ukrainian-born ‘DWTS' alum Maksim Chmerkovskiy brings vodka brand to NYC

Tetya Kapa, a Napa Valley vodka from Ukrainian-born 'Dancing with the Stars' veteran Maksim Chmerkovskiy, debuts in New York this week at hotspots including Elsie Rooftop, Fresco by Scotto, and Avra. The vodka is named for Chmerkovskiy's favorite relative, Kapa. Tetya is Ukrainian for aunt. 'She taught me how to drink and not get drunk at the ripe age of 10 or 11 years old,' Chmerkovskiy said. 'We grew up with that culture, constant celebrations, mournings, graduations, any kind of gathering was celebrated with shots of vodka, for health. I grew up in that culture. I didn't see a glass of wine until my 20s.' Advertisement 3 Tetya Kapa is a Napa Valley vodka from 'Dancing with the Stars' veteran Maksim Chmerkovskiy. Braden Tavelli The spirit will be available throughout the tri-state area, including Brooklyn — where Chmerkovskiy landed at age 14 with his family in 1994. It will be distributed by 'Dozortsev & Sons,' owned by fellow Ukrainian Arty Dozortsev. Chmerkovskiy got his start as a teenage dancer in Brighton Beach's famed restaurants, like Ukraina, that offered 'dinner and a show' to homesick ex-Soviet immigrants. He'd get $20 to $25 a show to perform with his partner, who would come to the restaurants after studying at a local yeshiva. Advertisement 'That woke me up. I didn't have to deliver newspapers, I could do something else,' said Chmerkovskiy, who has been a dancer and an entrepreneur ever since. After dancing on 'DWTS' for 17 years, Chmerkovskiy now lives with his wife, fellow 'DWTS' alumnus Peta Murgatroyd, and their three kids, who are all under five years old. He co-founded the vodka brand with Arthur Hartunian, founder of Napa Valley Distillery, and Ian Devereux White in 2023. Advertisement 3 The spirit will be available throughout the tri-state area. Tetya Kapa Made without corn or sugar, using Sauvignon Blanc grapes, Tetya Kapa vodka took off with chef-led restaurants in Napa, including La Toque and Angele Restaurant & Bar. 'I'm very excited to return and introduce the product to New York,' Chmerkovskiy told Side Dish. 'How we celebrate revolves around shots of vodka. This one we don't have to sell, all people have to do is taste it, as it is very much a handmade product that you can sip, like a high end Mezcal, which is why a lot of the restaurants love it.' A portion of the sales will also go to charities supporting Ukraine, including Baranova27, a charity that Chmerkovskiy founded with his father to help rebuild houses in Western Ukraine. Benjo Arwas 'The region was never very safe and while [Russia's invasion] shocked the world, it wasn't shocking to us or to anyone who knows history and the region. It was to be expected,' Chmerkovskiy said. Being in Kiev when Russia invaded 'was a tough experience,' Chmerkovskiy said. 'I made a lot of friends there and I have a lot of empathy for people in Ukraine. It was hard to see.' 'Dancers,' he added, 'we are a different type, if you will, and all of a sudden they were part of an army and went straight to the frontline. I'm not used to our type talking about anything other than cha-chas and sambas.' Some dancers turned into soldiers and have since lost some of their limbs. He also knows families on both sides of the border — and says there is still so much 'PTSD generationally in the region' from conflicts launched by Moscow that go back to the Soviet Union's war in Afghanistan in the 1980s. 'It is unfortunate – very tragic. Ukraine is now dealing with and will have a whole generation who can't forget, who are missing limbs,' Chmerkovskiy said. 'Everyone I know [in Ukraine] is part of this army. It's been very hard to watch and everyone I know has nothing to do with this lifestyle but had to pick up a weapon and be on the frontline. It's crazy. There is so much trauma.'

2 ex-Knicks assistants lead odds to replace Tom Thibodeau

2 ex-Knicks assistants lead odds to replace Tom Thibodeau The New York Knicks are on the hunt for a new head coach after firing Tom Thibodeau on Tuesday, and the betting odds say they're likely to land on a familiar name -- though which familiar name remains a question. At DraftKings, former Denver Nuggets championship-winning coach Michael Malone is the favorite to land the job at +125 odds. Malone -- who made FTW's list of potential candidates -- is a New York native who spent his first two years in the NBA as an assistant with the Knicks from 2003-05. After Malone, former Thibodeau assistant Johnnie Bryant has the next-best odds at +400. The 39-year-old Bryant spent four years on New York's staff before becoming associate head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers last season. Bryant is currently one of two finalists for the Phoenix Suns job, ESPN's Shams Charania reported Monday. If Malone or Bryant aren't the hire, the betting odds still lean to a few other coaches with Knicks connections. Jay Wright, who coached Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart and Mikal Bridges at Villanova, is tied for the third-best odds at +1500 with Mike Budenholzer and Brunson's dad, Rick Brunson -- who's been a Knicks assistant since 2022.
