Dutch manufacturing output prices edge up 0.4% in March

Fibre2Fashion04-05-2025

Output prices for Dutch-manufactured goods rose by 0.4 per cent year on year in March 2025, a slowdown from the 1.4 per cent annual increase recorded in February, Statistics Netherlands (CBS) has reported.
The modest rise reflects a larger year on year (YoY) drop in crude oil prices, which strongly influence industrial pricing trends.
In March, the average price of North Sea Brent crude stood at €66 (~$75.00) per barrel—over 15 per cent lower than in March 2024. This compares to €72 (~$81.82) in February 2025, down nearly 5 per cent from a year earlier.
As a result, output prices for petroleum derivatives declined by 11.4 per cent in March, deepening from an 8.0 per cent drop the previous month. The chemical sector also saw pressure, with output prices falling by 1.2 per cent in March after a 1.1 per cent rise in February, as per CBS.
Month on month (MoM), manufacturing output prices dipped by 0.5 per cent. Export market prices fell by 0.3 per cent, while domestic prices dropped by 0.8 per cent, signalling weakened demand and lower input costs.
Dutch manufacturing output prices rose by 0.4 per cent YoY in March 2025, easing from 1.4 per cent in February, due to falling crude oil prices. Brent crude averaged €66 ($75), over 15 per cent lower YoY. Petroleum derivative prices dropped 11.4 per cent, and chemical product prices fell 1.2 per cent. MoM, output prices declined 0.5 per cent, with export prices down 0.3 per cent.

Meanwhile, the country's producer price index, which measures costs for goods at the factory gate, dropped by 3.3 per cent YoY and 0.4 per cent MoM in May. For the January-May period, the country's CPI averaged a 0.1-per cent YoY decline. Meanwhile, the country's producer price index (PPI), which measures costs for goods at the factory gate, dropped by 3.3 per cent YoY and 0.4 per cent MoM in May, a state-controlled news agency reported. NBS statistician Dong Lijuan attributed the PPI decline to falling international crude prices, which drove down domestic prices in petroleum-related industries, as well as a seasonal slowdown in demand for energy and raw materials, with coal prices easing and construction activity disrupted by hot and rainy weather in southern regions. In May, the purchasing prices for industrial producers dropped by 3.6 per cent YoY. Fibre2Fashion News Desk (DS)

Indian oil & gas sector to witness strong growth despite global volatility

New Delhi: The Indian oil and gas sector is likely to see strong growth through the fiscal year 2026 and 2027, despite significant volatility faced by the oil and gas market last month, said a research note by Systematix Institutional Equities. India's oil & gas sector covered companies are likely to deliver average sales, EBITDA, and PAT growth of 6 per cent, 12.9 per cent, and 13.3 per cent year-on-year for FY26E, and 7.8 per cent, 9 per cent, and 10.1 per cent year-on-year for FY27E, respectively. Systematix suggests that top investment picks include Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), GAIL India Ltd (GAIL), Mahanagar Gas Ltd (MGL), and Gulf Oil Lubricants India Ltd (GOLI). According to the research, the market suffered from significant volatility with declining crude prices countered by a robust rebound in refining margins. Last month, Brent crude prices fell by 22.9 per cent year-on-year and 3.8 per cent month-on-month in May 2025, influenced by increased OPEC supply from nations like Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Additionally, Global liquid demand also saw a sharp drop before a slight recovery. The lower crude prices contributed to a decline in US rig counts, reflecting cautious upstream investment. Contrary to this, the benchmark Gross Refining Margin (GRM) of companies surged by 85 per cent month-on-month and 121 per cent year-on-year, averaging $6.4/bbl. This significant improvement stemmed from lower crude input costs and enhanced product cracks across gasoline, gasoil, jet, kero, and naphtha segments, all showing strong month-on-month improvements. Furthermore, Natural gas prices presented mixed trends. Henry Hub prices in the US corrected sharply by 31.8 per cent since January 2025 due to oversupply and mild weather. Conversely, Asian spot LNG (Japan Korea Marker) prices rose 6.7 per cent year-on-year to $11.9/mmbtu, driven by regional demand. In the fourth quarter of FY25, the aggregate earnings for the oil and gas sector saw a slight year-on-year decline but a sequential increase, with gas and City Gas Distribution (CGD) companies generally reporting revenues above estimates. While EBITDA/scm for CGD companies declined year-on-year, they showed sequential rebounds driven by price hikes and favourable gas price mix.

Nexus Venture to invest Rs 125 crore in Rapido ahead of food delivery launch

Nexus Venture Partners will invest Rs 125 crore (around $15 million) in Rapido as a part of a larger financing round last year that valued it at $1.1 billion, the urban mobility platform said in a filing with the Registrar of Companies (RoC). The fund infusion comes ahead of Rapido's foray into food delivery, for which it plans to launch a pilot this month. ET has reported earlier that Rapido is looking to challenge the dominance of Eternal's Zomato and Swiggy in food delivery. The latter holds a 12% stake in Rapido. According to agreed terms with industry body National Restaurants Association of India (NRAI), Rapido is expected to charge commissions in the range of 8-15% from restaurants, compared to 16-30% Zomato and Swiggy charge, ET reported on Monday . Rapido's $200-million funding round last year was led by WestBridge Capital. This was followed by a $30-million investment by Dutch investor Prosus , which is also a large investor in Swiggy. Rapido is also chalking out plans to enter the insurance distribution space where it could target its driver partners and customers for products such as health, life, general and motor insurance. In fiscal 2025, Rapido's gross order value (GOV) more than doubled to $1.25 billion on the back of growth in its ride-hailing services . The company is growing its market share, currently fulfilling 3-3.5 million orders per day across two-, three- and four-wheeler rides and hyperlocal logistics. ET reported on May 23 that as a result of its chase for growth and entry into new spaces, Rapido's monthly cash burn touched $4-5 million, or about Rs 35-42 crore, in 2025 – a sharp departure from last year's efforts to rein in losses. During the July–September 2024 quarter, the company had narrowed its losses to Rs 17 crore from Rs 74 crore in the same period the year before. In FY24, the ridesharing platform posted a 46% rise in operating revenue to Rs 648 crore on account of its entry into new businesses and increased customer bookings. The company also narrowed its net loss by 45% to Rs 371 crore from Rs 674 crore in FY23.
