Taylor Swift explains that Reputation is very personal and connected to a special time in her life, which makes it harder to remake.
After six years and a massive world tour, Taylor Swift has finally regained full ownership of her original music. She now owns her first six albums: Taylor Swift, Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989 and Reputation. This milestone deal includes not just the songs but also the music videos, concert films, and album photos associated with them. Swifties, who have been eagerly awaiting Reputation (Taylor's Version), got a heartfelt update from the singer. She shared that this particular album is deeply personal and tied to a unique chapter in her life, making it more challenging to re-record. Fans have been buzzing with excitement ever since the release of 1989 (Taylor's Version) in October 2023, and now, they finally have a glimpse of what's coming next.
In an exciting handwritten letter, Swift wrote, 'What about Rep TV? Full transparency: I haven't even re-recorded a quarter of it. The Reputation album was so specific to that time in my life, and I kept hitting a stopping point when I tried to remake it. All that defiance, that longing to be understood while feeling purposely misunderstood, that desperate hope, that shame-born snarl and mischief. To be perfectly honest, it's the first album in those first 6 that I thought couldn't be improved upon by redoing it. Not the music, or photos, or videos. So I kept putting it off."
'There will be a time (if you're into the idea) for the unreleased Vault tracks from that album to hatch. I've already completely re-recorded my entire debut album, and I really love how it sounds now. Those 2 albums can still have their moments to re-emerge when the time is right, if that would be something you guys would be excited about. But if it happens, it won't be from a place of sadness and longing for what I wish I could have It will just be a celebration now," Taylor Swift added.
In 2021, Taylor Swift officially began her Taylor's Version journey. She started re-recording her old albums to gain full rights over her music. Since then, she has released new versions of Fearless, Red, Speak Now and 1989. These re-recorded albums not only included fresh versions of her original songs but also featured tracks that were never released before.
In her letter, Swift shared how emotional this moment is for her. She mentioned it's hard to even put her feelings into words because so many memories are running through her mind. For years, she dreamed of owning her music again, but it always felt just out of reach. After nearly 20 years of trying and facing many challenges, she finally made it happen. She explained that ever since hearing the news, she's still in shock that it's real.
Now, all the songs she has written, music videos, concert recordings, album photos and even the songs that were never released truly belong to her. Taylor Swift called it the biggest dream of her life coming true. She also thanked her fans for their support, saying their love for the re-recorded albums and the success of The Eras Tour made this possible. Because of them, she could finally reclaim the music she worked so hard to create.

"Queens supporting queens": Fans go wild as Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez spotted having intense heart-to-heart during cozy dinner night out in NYC

Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez's late-night NYC dinner fuels fans' curiosity (Getty Images) On a breezy Saturday evening in New York City, longtime friends and music icons Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez were seen enjoying a cozy dinner at the Monkey Bar. The duo, known for their unshakable bond, sparked a wave of online excitement when a candid snapshot of their reunion surfaced via gossip Instagram account Deuxmoi. With no sign of their significant others — Travis Kelce in Kansas City for the Big Slick charity show and Benny Blanco apparently away — it was a rare and intimate moment shared between two of the most influential women in pop culture. Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez spark buzz with deep dinner chat during surprise reunion in Manhattan In the photo that's now making the rounds on social media, Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez are captured in what seems to be an intense and heartfelt exchange. Swift, dressed in a sleek black tank top trimmed with silver sequins, looks visibly surprised — a reaction that fans are already speculating about. Opposite her, Gomez sits in a booth wearing a dark scoop-neck shirt layered with a jacket featuring wide lapels. Her hair is pulled back into a polished bun, and her gold hoop earrings add a soft touch of elegance. Though simple in setting, the image has stirred major buzz, and for good reason. This meet-up wasn't just a social catch-up — it came on the heels of a massive personal victory for Swift. Just days earlier, she revealed that she had officially acquired the rights to her master recordings, marking the end of a years-long struggle with Big Machine Records, Scooter Braun, and later, Shamrock Capital. The battle had defined much of her recent career narrative, but now, it's finally resolved. In an emotional message to her fans, Swift wrote, 'I'm trying to gather my thoughts into something coherent, but right now my mind is just a slideshow. As a flashback sequence of all the times I daydreamed about, wished for, and pined away for a chance to get to tell you this news. I almost stopped thinking it could happen, after 20 years of having the carrot dangled and then yanked away. But that's all in the past now.' The moment didn't go unnoticed by Gomez. Sharing Swift's post on her Instagram Story, she offered a proud nod of support, writing, 'Yes you did that Tay! So proud.' It's the kind of sincere and public show of friendship that fans have come to expect from this power duo. Having met back in 2008 when both were dating the Jonas Brothers — Swift with Joe, Gomez with Nick — their friendship has since matured into something far deeper than mere celebrity camaraderie. Through breakups, professional pivots, health battles, and monumental career shifts, Swift and Gomez have consistently been each other's pillars of support. Today, with Swift navigating her high-profile romance with NFL star Travis Kelce and Gomez engaged to producer Benny Blanco, the two remain just as tight-knit. Though Swift has kept a relatively low profile in 2025 following her blockbuster Eras Tour, recent sightings — including this dinner with Gomez — suggest she may be ready to step back into the spotlight. There are even whispers of new music on the horizon. Whatever comes next, one thing remains clear: this friendship, forged in their teenage years and tested over time, continues to shine brighter with every passing year. Is Taylor Swift Still Ignoring Blake Lively as Justin Baldoni Drops Subpoena? Source Reveals Amid Singer's Masters Win

Blake Lively and Taylor Swift are allegedly continuing with the silence amid the actress's ongoing legal battle with Justin Baldoni. The It Ends With Us director dropped the subpoena against the musician earlier this month. However, it has not lessened the tension between two best friends. In conversation with US Weekly, the source close to the duo revealed that Lively and Swift will not pick up from where they left off, as there is a lot of emotional baggage between the two. The Bad Karma singer was initially addressed in Baldoni's lawsuit and was described to be one of Lively's 'dragons.' Swift's mention in the legal battle majorly affected her friendship with Ryan Reynolds and the Another Simple Favor star, despite being the godparents to their four kids. The source explained to the media portal, ' There's been radio silence between Taylor and Blake since the subpoena was dropped." They further added, 'They won't pick up where they left off because of all the emotional residue.' Why was Taylor Swift being dragged into Justin Baldoni's lawsuit? Amid the ongoing legal battle, Swift was subpoenaed in the case to take the stand in the court and testify. However, at the time of dropping the musician's name from the lawsuit, Baldoni's attorneys claimed that they retrieved all the information they required from the Willow crooner. At the time of filing the 400 million USD case against Lively, the filmmake r's lawyer, Bryan Freedman, shared, 'The message could not have been clearer. Baldoni was not just dealing with Lively. He was also facing Lively's 'dragons,' two of the most influential and wealthy celebrities in the world who were not afraid to make things very difficult for him.' At the time, the source close to Taylor revealed that the reason behind her deeper rift with the mother of four was that she wanted no part in the legalities. According to the previous reports, Swift's dad gave up information to Baldoni's lawyers in order to protect his daughter. Meanwhile, it is reported that Swift is feeling extremely relieved to keep the drama behind her. As for the joyous moments, the singer also bought all of her masters from the Big Machine records at an expensive deal.
