
First batch of Hajj pilgrims leaves Kannur
The first flight carrying Hajj pilgrims left the Kannur airport in the early hours of Sunday (May 11, 2025).
A total of 170 pilgrims, including 88 men and 82 women from Kannur and Kasaragod districts, boarded the Air India Express flight at 3.45 a.m.
The flight was flagged off by Mattanur municipal chairman N. Shajith, who also serves as the working chairman of the Hajj organising committee.
Former MLA M.V. Jayarajan, Kannur International Airport Limited managing director Dinesh Kumar, and others, were present.

Airspace closure hits Jaipur flight schedule
Jaipur: Flight schedules at Jaipur airport were disturbed due to airspace restrictions, with flight services to Dubai being cancelled. Three international flights were cancelled Tuesday morning. The Jaipur airport issued an advisory stating that due to the closure of airspace in the Middle East, flight operations from Jaipur International Airport were impacted. The airport requested passengers to check with their respective airlines on the status of their flights before arriving at the airport. On Tuesday, two international flights taking off from Jaipur airport, which included Air India Express flight IX 195, Jaipur to Dubai scheduled for 5:30am, and SpiceJet flight SG 57, Jaipur to Dubai scheduled for 8:55am, were cancelled. A SpiceJet flight SG 58 from Dubai to Jaipur, scheduled to land here at 7:55am, was also cancelled Tuesday. Many passengers learnt that the flights were cancelled after reaching the airport, leading to inconvenience. An Air India Express flight IX 3063 from Jaipur to Jeddah at 6:15pm was delayed and departed at 6: Airlines issued a statement on X, "Due to airspace closure in the Middle East, some of our flights may be affected. Mumbai: Air India, Air India Express , and IndiGo, along with Gulf carriers like Qatar Airways on Tuesday started resuming flights to the Middle East and Europe following the reopening of key airspaces. Countries like Qatar, the UAE, Kuwait, and Bahrain had shut their airspaces on Monday amid a sharp escalation in the Israel-Iran conflict with Tehran launching missile strikes at an US military base in Qatar. This triggered major flight disruptions, affecting air traffic across the Gulf, Europe, and North America. The move to restart services comes as geopolitical tensions in the region appear to be de-escalating. Air India said it would progressively resume services to the Middle East, with most of its operations expected to normalise by June 25. Kol-Hindon route to get another flight
Kolkata: IndiGo Airlines will operate daily flights from Kolkata to Hindon from July 20. This will be the second such flight after Air India Express. The flight is of particular convenience to those who travel to Ghaziabad or Noida on the outskirts of Delhi. Flight 6E 2588 will depart Kolkata at 5.50 am and reach Hindon at 8 am. The return flight, 6E 2589, will depart Hindon at 8.50 am and reach Kolkata at 10 am. The Kolkata flight will be among eight the airline plans to launch from Hindon. The other cities that will be connected are Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Indore, Mumbai, Patna, and Varanasi.
