High court stays release of film ‘Bhool Chuk Maaf'
Mumbai: In a setback for the Raj Kumar Rao-starrer, Bombay HC on Saturday stayed the release of a courtroom drama, granting interim relief to
PVR Inox Ltd
. The company sought the stay, claiming a violation of a contract for its release in theatres.PVR moved HC on Saturday for a special hearing, citing urgency.
Through senior counsel Dinyar Madon and advocate Darshan Mehta, it said that unless the scheduled release was stayed, its claim would be rendered infructuous.
Madon stated that the urgency was because
Maddock Films Pvt Ltd
and others, who produced the film, terminated an agreement dated May 6, 2025, by which it agreed to release the film '
Bhool Chuk Maaf
' in PVR theatres in India on May 9, 2025. Maddock, through senior counsel Venkatesh Dhond and advocate Ameet Naik, opposed the application for the grant of urgent reliefs. HC restrained the release and sought a reply from Maddock and the film's owner in two weeks. It will next hear the matter on Jun 16. —Swati Deshpande

Bhool Chuk Maaf Box Office Day 10: Rajkummar Rao's Film Inches Closer Towards Rs 60 Crore
Last Updated: Rajkummar Rao's film Bhool Chuk Maaf, also starring Wamiqa Gabbi, crossed Rs 50 crore at the box office. Rajkummar Rao's latest film Bhool Chuk Maaf has crossed the Rs 50 crore mark at the box office. It is having an impressive run at the ticket windows. Also starring Wamiqa Gabbi, Bhool Chuk Maaf had released in theatres after multiple delays last week. The film opened to Rs 7 crore on May 23. Surprisingly, the Karan Sharma-directorial pulled in Rs 44.3 crore during its first week in theatres. On its tenth day in theatres, the film collected around Rs 6.25 crore, with overall occupancy reaching close to 32 per cent, and the highest footfall seen during the evening screenings. The total earning now stands at Rs 58 crore. On its second Sunday, the film's occupancy varied throughout the day — 9.02 per cent in the morning, 27.80 per cent in the afternoon, 31.65 per cent in the evening, and 18.95 per cent at night. Among cities, Chennai stood out with a remarkable 80 per cent occupancy, while Chandigarh, Jaipur, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad also showed strong turnout. Though the film's box office performance were expected to be much better, the lead cast received praise for their on-screen presence. News18 rated the film with 3 out of 5 stars. 'The concept is fairly new for Bollywood, with straightforward storytelling, though certain characters could use more arch and layers that could have unfolded over the course of the film. Nonetheless, Karan Sharma deserves credit for his debut effort and we can say, 'Karan, Bhool Chuk Maaf".While Rao excels in these roles, it's also time to see him in a new light and a fresh avatar. His portrayal of small-town heroes is commendable, but his talent extends beyond this niche. And we can't wait to see him in other projects. Gabbi, on the other hand, fits naturally into the role of Titli, delivering her lines with precision and showcasing excellent comic timing. It's likely she'll continue to shine in rom-coms in the future," read a part of our review. First Published:
