🔴 LIVE UPDATES: Israel, Iran continue to trade strikes as European diplomacy yields no breakthrough - Region
Around 2.30am local time, Israel's military reported an incoming missile barrage from Iran, triggering air raid sirens in Tel Aviv and parts of the Israeli-occupied West Bank. Explosions were heard over central Israel as air defences responded. An Israeli military official said five ballistic missiles were fired, with no reports of casualties or impacts, according to the Guardian.
Overnight, Israel said it targeted Iranian missile storage and launch infrastructure. The military claimed 'very significant' results, while Foreign Minister Gideon Saar told German newspaper Bild that the strikes had delayed Iran's nuclear capabilities by two to three years.
Iran, which says its nuclear programme is for civilian purposes, rejected calls for 'zero enrichment' as long as Israeli attacks persisted. A senior official told Reuters Tehran remained open to talks on enrichment limits if its right to peaceful nuclear development was recognised.
Since Israel launched attacks, Israeli bombing has killed at least 639 people and wounded 1,326, according to Iranian media, while Iranian missiles have killed at least 25 people and wounded hundreds in Israel, the Guardian reported.
The UN Security Council convened an emergency session Friday at Iran's request. Secretary-General António Guterres warned the world was 'racing toward' a major crisis and urged urgent dialogue. IAEA chief Rafael Grossi reported damage to four buildings at Iran's Isfahan nuclear site and warned a strike on the Bushehr plant could cause a serious radioactive release.
Meanwhile, the Pentagon confirmed the Nimitz carrier strike group is being deployed to the region. The USS Carl Vinson remains in the Middle East, while the USS Gerald R. Ford is scheduled to depart for Europe on 24 June.
US President Donald Trump publicly rebuked intelligence chief Tulsi Gabbard for saying there was no evidence Iran was pursuing a nuclear weapon. Gabbard later said her comments were taken out of context.

Egypt's Population Reaches 108 Million: CAPMAS
Taarek Refaat Egypt's domestic population has officially surpassed 108 million, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS). Iranian President to Visit Armenia, Belarus
Nada Mustafa Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian will head to Armenia and Belarus on Monday for a two-day visit, followed by a trip to China later this month to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit. Mehdi Sanaei, President's political advisor, stated that the visit aims to strengthen bilateral relations between Iran and the two countries, particularly in the trade sector, as well as to sign a series of joint agreements, according to Iran's Tasnim News Agency. US Suspends Visitor Visas for Individuals from Gaza
Israa Farhan The United States announced on Saturday the suspension of all visitor visas for individuals arriving from Gaza. The US State Department posted on X that all visitor visas for people from Gaza have been halted. The department added that the decision comes amid a full and comprehensive review of the processes and procedures used to issue a limited number of visas for medical and humanitarian purposes in recent days. According to an analysis of monthly figures published on the US State Department website, more than 3,800 B1 and B2 visitor visas, which allow foreigners to receive medical treatment in the US, were issued to holders of travel documents from the Palestinian Authority. Reuters reported that this included 640 visas issued in May. The move follows remarks on social media by far-right activist Laura Loomer, an ally of former President Donald Trump, on Friday. The decision comes as Gaza faces a severe humanitarian crisis.
