Gold Rises To 5-Week High, Silver Touches 14-Year High: Check 24, 22 Carat Gold Rates In Your City On July 23
Gold, Silver Prices In India Today, July 23: Gold prices witnessed a jump on Wednesday, as the countdown to the US trade tariff deadline stoked global uncertainty. However, the US-Japan deal capped the upside move. In Mumbai, the price of gold stood at Rs 93,800 per 10 grams for 22-carat and Rs 1,02,330 per 10 grams for 24-carat.
Silver also declined by Rs 100 to trade at Rs 1,18,100 per kg.
However, in the futures market on the MCX, gold futures (expiring on August 5, 2025) were trading higher by 0.06% at Rs 1,00,390 per 10 gram, while silver (expiring on September 5, 2025) rose by 0.49% to trade at Rs 1,16,216 per kg.
Rahul Kalantri, vice-president (commodities) of Mehta Equities, said, 'Gold and silver rallied further as the countdown to the US trade tariff deadline stoked global uncertainty. President Donald Trump's warning to escalate tariffs unless a deal is struck by August 1 has pushed investors towards safe-haven assets. Gold soared to a 5-week high and silver nearly touched a 14-year record. Weakness in both the US dollar index and treasury yields, amid expectations of policy easing, supported the rally. On the domestic front, rupee depreciation against the dollar added upward pressure on bullion prices. However, a surprise trade deal with Japan provided some support to currency markets thereby restricting further gains in bullion."
International market rates, import duties, taxes, and fluctuations in exchange rates primarily influence gold prices in India. Together, these factors determine the daily gold rates across the country.
In India, gold is deeply cultural and financial. It is a preferred investment option and is key to celebrations, particularly weddings and festivals.
With constantly changing market conditions, investors and traders monitor fluctuations closely. Staying updated is crucial for effectively navigating dynamic trends.

Amazon Issues Scam Warning To Prime Members Amid Spike In Phishing
Curated By : Shankhyaneel Sarkar Last Updated: July 23, 2025, 20:28 IST In this representative AI-generated image, a concerned user examines a suspicious email while subtle visual cues highlight common signs of phishing scams, as a stylized shadow figure in the background symbolizes the hidden threats of online fraud. (IMAGE: IMAGEN 3 ENGINE) Amazon Prime users are being warned about a spike in phishing scams where attackers impersonate the company to steal sensitive data such as bank details, login credentials and social security numbers, the New York Post said, citing a top Amazon official. In a statement earlier this month, Amazon said it had taken down over 55,000 phishing websites and 12,000 phone numbers used in impersonation scams in 2024 alone. The company noted a marked rise in such attempts, especially around fake emails and texts linked to account or order issues. 'Scammers who attempt to impersonate Amazon put consumers at risk," said Dharmesh Mehta, vice president of Selling Partner Services, while speaking to the New York Post . 'Although these scams take place outside our store, we will continue to invest in protecting consumers and educating the public on how to avoid scams." Many of these scams involve emails, texts or calls claiming the user made a purchase they don't recall, prompting them to share personal details to 'verify" the order. According to Malwarebytes, some fake emails also falsely claim that a user's Prime subscription will auto-renew at a high price, including a bogus 'cancel subscription" button that redirects to a fake Amazon login page. If users enter their details on such pages, scammers can access not just their Amazon account, but any other platform using the same credentials. In some cases, users are also asked to share payment information. Swipe Left For Next Video View all Amazon said it is rolling out measures to help users verify authentic communication. Gmail, Yahoo, and other major email users will now see the Amazon smile logo beside genuine emails. The company also reiterated that it will never ask for payments over the phone or email, and never request gift card purchases. Users are advised to double-check purchase history on the official Amazon app or website and report suspicious activity directly to the company. Wall Street rises on US-Japan trade deal, hopes for more tariff talks
Wall Street climbed on Wednesday after President Donald Trump secured a trade deal with Japan, sparking optimism for a flurry of new agreements as the August 1 deadline looms. The pact will slash tariffs on the Japanese auto sector to 15per cent from 27.5per cent, with duties on other goods also dropping to 15per cent from 25per cent. At 9:41 a.m. ET, the S&P 500 gained 20.11 points, or 0.31per cent, to 6,329.73 and the Nasdaq Composite gained 39.71 points, or 0.19per cent, to 20,932.40. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 215.38 points, or 0.48per cent, to 44,717.82, closing in on its all-time high. Meanwhile, Wall Street's "fear gauge," the CBOE Volatility Index, dipped to its lowest level in nearly two weeks. As US and EU officials head into crucial trade talks, hopes are high for a breakthrough agreement. However, the European Commission signaled it's ready to play hardball , preparing to seek approval for 93 billion euros ($109 billion) in counter-tariffs on American goods. "The United States has been working very hard on trying to get a lot of trade deals in time before the August 1st deadline, and it seems like they're starting to get some momentum. So I do think this is a very positive sign," said Chris Zaccarelli, chief investment officer at Northlight Asset Management. Investors are now laser-focused on earnings from the "Magnificent Seven" â€' the market's star performers who have powered stocks to record highs. Tesla and Alphabet are set to report after the bell on Wednesday. With AI optimism running high and valuations stretched, expectations for these tech giants are sky-high, leaving little margin for disappointment. In earnings-focused moves, GE Vernova's shares climbed 13.7per cent to an all-time high, as the power equipment maker raised its current-year revenue and free cash flow forecasts after beating Wall Street estimates for second-quarter profit. Texas Instruments tumbled 12.7per cent after its quarterly profit forecast failed to impress investors, as it pointed to weaker-than-expected demand for its analog chips from some customers and underscored tariff-related uncertainty. The earnings also weighed on its peer analog chipmakers, with NXP Semiconductors, Analog Devices and ON Semiconductor falling between 3.5per cent and 5.6per cent. Toymaker Hasbro slipped 2.4per cent even after raising its annual revenue forecast. A 1.7per cent drop in AT&T kept the communications sector in the red, with all other sectors in positive territory. The company's stock dropped despite beating quarterly profit estimates. In economic data, existing home sales numbers for June are due on the day. Thursday's weekly jobless claims numbers and S&P Global's flash PMI data will be closely assessed to gauge economic health in the wake of tariff uncertainties. Following a mixed set of economic data last week, traders have ruled out an interest rate cut by the Federal Reserve next week. Odds for a September reduction stand at 58per cent, according to the CME FedWatch tool. The Fed's July meeting will follow on the heels of mounting concerns about its independence amid political interference and President Trump's persistent attacks on Chair Jerome Powell for his reluctance to cut rates. Advancing issues outnumbered decliners by a 2.22-to-1 ratio on the NYSE and by a 1.76-to-1 ratio on the Nasdaq. The S&P 500 posted 30 new 52-week highs and two new low, while the Nasdaq Composite recorded 48 new highs and eight new lows.
