These 3 zodiac signs will get hit the hardest by the Mercury cazimi in Leo
Cazimi comes from the Arabic word kaṣmīmī, which translates to 'as if in the heart.'
In astrological terms, a cazimi transpires when a planet is in close or exact conjunction with the sun, right in the infernal heart of it, if you will.
A Mercury cazimi occurs when our planet of the mind and the mouth, poetry and slander, short trips and high wires, is within one degree of the GOAT star in our solar system.
A cazimi is something of a solar amplifier/purifier, where the inherent energy of a planet is hyped and heightened by its proximity to the sun.
In effect and on July 31, the planet of communion is getting a baptism by fire in a sign ruled by the sun — and we'll all feel the heat.
'This one's huge for anyone stuck in relationship limbo. Mercury cazimi in Leo is basically the universe giving you permission to say what you've been avoiding,' Angelika Koch, astrologer and relationship expert at LGBTQ+ dating app Taimi, told The Post.
Koch maintains that this cazimi, which is occurring amid Mercury retrograde, will not be gentl,e but it will spur growth.
'Cazimi energy doesn't really give you a choice about timing. Situationships that have been limping along for months are going to face some kind of reckoning. Not because the universe is cruel, but because pretending everything's fine when it isn't takes way too much energy. It's messy, but necessary,' Koch said.
Koch notes that now is the hour for real talk in relationships, whether that's defining it, addressing what's not working or being honest about changing needs or a change of heart.
This alignment and alliance between the planet of communication and the solar star of the show equals divine messages and shadowy truths, taking a tentative step into the spotlight.
At best, the cazimi offers us a portal to the possible.
'This Mercury cazimi in Leo is like having a spotlight on all the things you've been tiptoeing around in your love life. It's not just about having those big conversations – it's about finally being honest with yourself about what you actually want, not what you think you're supposed to want.'
While we'll all experience the amplified energy of this cazimi, Koch notes that 3 signs in particular will feel the effects most acutely.
Read for your sun and rising sign.
GEMINI (May 21 – June 20)
'Gemini experiences this transit as a call toward more direct communication. These are thepeople who usually deflect serious relationship conversations with humor or change the subject,' Koch said.
However, as Koch notes, the people of the twin are primed to shock everyone, not least of all themselves, with their straightforward approach to expressing their emotional needs.
'This can result in surprisingly direct statements about relationship expectations or feelings they've been processing internally.'
LEO (July 23 – August 22)
As Leo hosts the cazimi, the big cats are the biggest recipients of this conjunction.
'Leos find themselves at the center of this cosmic event, with Mercury conjunct the Sun directlyin their sign. This placement encourages Leos to move beyond their typical theatricalpresentations and engage in more authentic self-expression within relationships,' explained Koch.
Koch notes that lions may drop the impulse to entertain in favor of vulnerable truth-telling.
'This is Leo's moment to stop performing the version of themselves they think their partner wants and start being radically honest about their needs. So if you're a Leo, expect some very direct 'this is what I want from us' conversations.'
VIRGO (August 23 – September 22)
Koch notes that Virgos may struggle the most with the energy of the cazimi.
'Virgos might actually have the hardest time with this one. They've been analyzing theirrelationships to death — making lists, weighing pros and cons, having entire conversations intheir heads,' Koch explained.
'But all that mental preparation might just get thrown out the window when this cazimi hits. Sometimes you just have to trust your gut, even when your brain is still working on the spreadsheet.'

Queer Jams of the Week: New Music From Chappell Roan, Reneé Rapp, Demi Lovato & More
In need of some new tunes from your favorite queer artists? We've got you covered. Billboard Pride is proud to present the latest edition of Queer Jams of the Week, our roundup of some of the best new music releases from LGBTQ+ artists. From Chappell Roan's long-awaited new(ish) ballad to Reneé Rapp's rowdy new album, check out just a few of our favorite releases from this week below: More from Billboard Best Festival Gear: What to Buy for Lollapalooza & Other Concerts This Summer WWE SummerSlam 2025: How to Watch the Two-Night Pro Wrestling Event Live Online Wrangler Goes All-Terrain With Latest Apparel Collection Backed by Country Star Tucker Wetmore Chappell Roan, 'The Subway' After more than a year of patience from fans, Chappell Roan is finally ready to offer them a ride on 'The Subway.' The plaintive ballad paints a vivid picture of Roan mid-heartbreak, as she recounts the mundane tale of seeing an ex on the train and going into a full-blown spiral of Big Feelings™. It's easy to see why fans have wanted a full studio version of the song — the dreamy guitars end up pairing perfectly with Roan's ethereal vocal, as she pines for the day her former flame becomes 'just another girl on the subway.' Reneé Rapp, Bite Me Reneé Rapp is ready for a switch-up. Where her excellent 2023 album Snow Angel saw the singer getting vulnerable about the hard realities surrounding her, Bite Me, her raucous new album, sees her disengaging from the hardships and opting to have fun instead. Over pop, rock, and R&B-tinged tracks, Rapp revels in sex ('Kiss It, Kiss It'), parties ('Good Girl'), and petty breakups ('That's So Funny'), all while giving some of her best vocal performances to date. The pathos and angst from Snow Angel is still present throughout, but as Rapp herself sings in the back half of the album: 'If I can't be happy, then at least I'm hot.' Demi Lovato, 'Fast' Everyone, please welcome back Demi Lovato, Pop Star. After zigging and zagging into adult contemporary and hard rock on her last few albums, the singer steps firmly back into the pop space with 'Fast,' their new dance-fueled banger. Plinking synths litter the background of the new track, alongside a beat that slowly ratchets up until bursting into an electric symphony on the chorus. But as usual, the standout on 'Fast' is Lovato's inimitable voice, as she flexes the power and versatility of her own instrument throughout this delirious new single. Slayyyter, 'Beat Up Chanel$' If Lovato's new song hasn't quite slaked your need for a high-octane new club track, then Slayyyter's should get the job done. Over a crunchy industrial beat, Slayyyter works her way through a nightlife scene packed with 'sex, money, drugs, chains on my chest, vintage Celine' and just about everything else you can hope to encounter. But she's not interested in the opulence of the scene, as suggested in both the lyrics and grimy production — Slayyyter's on a mission to find the filthy underbelly of the club. And with a track like 'Beat Up Chanel$,' she's sure to find it. Debby Friday, The Starrr of the Queen of Life After spending much of her career sowing chaos into dance tracks, Debby Friday is having an introspective moment. The Starrr of the Queen of Life finds the underground dance star still firmly situated in the club, but this time she's ready to tackle some more existential questions about her personal life ('Alberta') and about life itself ('Arcadia'), all while still providing some of her most fascinating production to date. Adam Lambert, 'Heaven on Their Minds' (Jesus Christ Superstar cover) Leave it to Adam Lambert to make a 55-year-old rock opera song sound new and vital again. Ahead of his performance this weekend in the Hollywood Bowl production of Jesus Christ Superstar alongside Cynthia Erivo, Lambert shared his rendition of the show's opening number 'Heaven on Their Minds,' letting his stratospheric voice go as far as it can. You can also hear his acting in the role of Judas throughout, as the performer brings a sense of desperation and panic to this rollicking new rendition. Pope Leo ‘devours' pizza shipped from his favorite Chicago pie shop — here's what toppings he got
Call him Pope Pieus. Pope Leo XIV recently received a special delivery at the Vatican which came all the way from Chicago. The Illinois-born pontiff, 69, was treated to a personal-size pepperoni pizza from Aurelio's Pizza, a chain he's reportedly loved since he was a boy. REUTERS/Carlos Osorio Pope Leo XIV, formerly known as Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost before he was elected the first American pope earlier this year, received the gift as he rode through Saint Peter's Square in Rome on Wednesday, July 30. His brother, John Prevost, told Chicago TV station WGN that the pontiff 'devoured' the personal pepperoni pie. Advertisement According to NBC News, friends from the Midwest came up with the idea to get the pope a box of his favorite pie. 'It started 30 days ago when I started a challenge to deliver a pizza to the pope,' Catholic content creator Jayden Remias, from Ohio, told WGN. He drove to Chicago to pick up a frozen Aurelio's pizza and delivered it to Madeline Daley from Cincinnati, with whom he connected online, before she left for Rome. Instagram / @jaydenremias Daley, 22, made the final leg of the trek to deliver the pizza to the pope as he toured the historical plaza. She got his attention by waving the pie's box and holding a sign that read 'We have Aurelio's pizza.' Leo appeared to signal to his security guard to accept the slice of home. As he accepted the cheesy gift, the leader of the Catholic Church gave a thumbs up and had a big smile on his face. Advertisement 'When Pope Leo came around, he kept grabbing babies to bless them, but as soon as he saw the pizza, he had babies in his hand, but he's still saying, like, 'Get me that pizza, I want that pizza,'' Daley told NBC News. 'And seeing the logo made him light up, and his smile was from ear to ear and he was extremely excited about it.' 3 As Pope Leo accepted the cheesy gift, he gave a thumbs up and had a big smile on his face. Instagram / @jaydenremias Joe Aurelio, president and CEO of Aurelio's Pizza, said it was 'amazing' to be able to deliver the Chicago pizza to the pope. 'Pope Leo has been a lifetime Aurelio's fan and going to Aurelio's Pizza in Homewood, Illinois, since the 1960s,' he said. 'So it's been part of his life and for him to recognize [the pizza] and actually stop there in the audience was amazing.'

3 zodiac signs that should play it safe with their emotions in August
Welcome to August, one and all. We're still in the thick of Mercury retrograde. Though the renegade planet of the mind and the unbitten tongue will turn direct on August 11, it doesn't clear its post-retrograde shadow until August 25, meaning we will remain in the muck and the mire for the bulk of the month. 'August is set to be an emotionally charged month, with a mix of intensity and opportunity. It's Leo season, which tends to push people toward bold moves — but with Mercury retrograde in the background, it's worth slowing down,' Kate Kettelkamp, resident astrologer at Gamblizard and founder of Kronos Astrology, told The Post. 4 Leo season encourages bold moves, for better or worse. Виктория Кацаран – Kettlekamp notes that when the Full Moon in Aquarius rises on August 9, it will be ripe with tension that will play out in personal relationships and group dynamics, 'Not necessarily a crisis, but it does call for some awareness.' Towards the end of the month, a powerful New Moon in Virgo offers a much-needed reset. 'Think habits, systems, and long-term goals. When Venus enters Leo on August 25, the energy shifts noticeably toward boldness in love, money, and creative choices. Risk is supported here, but only if it's backed by real intention.' Below, she shares which signs should be extra cautious in the coming weeks. Read for your sun and rising sign. 4 scaliger – 'You are the moment this month, Leo. It's your season, your spotlight, but Mercury retrograde is testing your timing. And it could make you feel more like a blooper reel than a highlight reel,' said Kettelkamp. She noted that the Full Moon in Aquarius will hit lions in their partnership zone. 'That could mean a heated conversation, a revelation, or an old emotional thread resurfacing. Romantic relationships might feel a little unstable, as can business or creative ones. Keep your poker face on — try not to overreact. Or at least take a beat before replying.' Kettelkamp urges big cats not to dismiss the past, particularly when it comes to revenue streams or lucrative patterns. 'Think back to 2018. What was working for you then? Rework it. Then, come August 12th — when Venus and Jupiter align — go ahead, take the leap. As long as it's something you've thought through, it might just be a quiet win.' 4 scaliger – According to Kettlekamp, Mercury in your tenth house of career is stirring up and bringing back unfinished business, Scorpio. 'You might be revisiting old goals, or bumping into a familiar face from your professional past.' On the August 9th Full Moon in Aquarius, she cautions scorpions to take great care in all communications, particularly those that take place in public or with receipts. 'A well-meaning comment might be taken the wrong way. A vague email could come back to bite. This isn't the time to take an unnecessary risk or make a reckless bluff — play it safe.' Kettlecamp says agenda pushing is the enemy during this transit, and your best bet is revision, a slow build, breathing room, and practiced patience. 'Your moment is coming, but this isn't the week to force it.' 4 scaliger – As Mercury retrogrades in Leo, your opposite sign, you could be feeling the off-kilter frequency more than others, Aquarius. Symptoms include but are not limited to obstinate tech, changing plans, and misread signals. 'August 9th's Full Moon is in your sign, so something personal, something you've been circling for a while, could finally come to light. But the emotional charge may catch you off guard. Give yourself space. Not every conversation needs to happen right now.' Kettlekamp assures that the latter part of August could bring a welcome and uncommonly sweet surprise. 'Romance, a reconnection, even a stroke of creative clarity. It won't undo the chaos, but it could make the mess feel worthwhile if you stay in the game without folding too soon.'
