#SHOWBIZ: Fattah Amin: I'm not marrying Amira on May 25

KUALA LUMPUR: Actor Fattah Amin has once again refuted rumours claiming he will marry actress Amira Othman on May 25.
In a Berita Harian report yesterday, Fattah clarified that neither he nor Amira has set a wedding date, contrary to what fans have suggested.
"Perhaps May 25 is considered an auspicious date for weddings," he speculated.
"However, as far as we are concerned, nothing is happening on that day."
He further explained that his recent meeting with Amira's family in Singapore was purely coincidental.
Fattah also addressed their joint appearance at a recent motivational talk, stating that both he and Amira were invited as guest speakers by the organiser.
"Yes, my family was invited to the talk, and her family decided to join at the last minute. Fortunately, the organiser was able to accommodate both families, as hers resides in Johor Baru, which is nearby."
Regarding interactions with Amira's family, Fattah described them as "very sporting," explaining that her younger brother, Irfan Harris, was simply joking when he "teased" them about being a "superb couple."
Finally, Fattah addressed the speculation about their matching outfits.
"That was merely a coincidence. We both have contracts with several fashion brands, which is why we sometimes wear similar attire."
This latest denial follows Fattah's recent dismissal of rumours suggesting a wedding shortly after Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

KL Book Fair draws youth, fuels reading passion

KUALA LUMPUR: The Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair (PBAKL) 2025, which began yesterday, continues to attract young crowds who come not only to buy books but also to reignite their passion for reading. A survey by 'Berita Harian' at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur found that most young visitors view the event as an important platform to revitalise the culture of knowledge, especially in today's digital era. Nur Aisyah Batrisyia Abd Razak, 23, described PBAKL as an annual event she eagerly looks forward to, as it offers a wide variety of reading materials. "I come here every year because I love reading, especially fiction. Fiction books greatly expand my imagination. "In general, book prices this year are reasonable, although some titles are a bit expensive for students," she said at the venue today. Nur Aisyah added that she prefers reading physical books as they are more comfortable and satisfying compared with online or e-book formats. However, she acknowledged that social media plays a major role in fostering an interest in reading, particularly among youth. "PBAKL means a lot to me because it reignites the spirit of reading, especially among young people who are reading less nowadays." For Nur Athirah Johar, 22, and her friend Muhammad Muhaimin Johari, 24, visiting PBAKL has become a yearly routine for the past several years. "I enjoy reading and writing, and PBAKL is a great opportunity to buy my favourite books while taking advantage of the promotions offered," said Nur Athirah. "Sometimes, I even get to meet the authors. I think the development of locally published books is encouraging, especially those by young writers. "Book prices here are also reasonable, and there are lots of attractive promotions." Muhaimin described his annual visits to PBAKL as a chance to buy many books and support the local book industry. He admitted he prefers physical books because they are easier to understand and offer a more enjoyable reading experience. At the same time, he suggested that parking facilities be expanded for visitors' convenience and that parking fees be reduced to avoid being burdensome.
