3 Indiana Pacers Stars Named in NBA Trade Rumors
The Indiana Pacers, after making the Eastern Conference Finals last season and taking the Oklahoma City Thunder to seven games in the Finals this year, are one of the best teams in the NBA. However, in that Game 7, All-NBA point guard Tyrese Haliburton tore his Achilles and will likely miss all of next season.

Of course, in a weak East, the Pacers can still compete with Andrew Nembhard taking over playmaking duties, although with their best player out, it's hard to imagine them repeating as conference champions.
With plenty of young talent and depth pieces, the Pacers could make a splashy trade this offseason to better position themselves for success when Haliburton returns, and three players have been named in trade rumors.
"In addition, teams around the league circled the wagon on the trade availability of Bennedict Mathurin, Obi Toppin, and Jarace Walker this season," wrote HoopsHype's Michael Scotto. "Rival teams are expected to circle the wagon again this offseason on those players."
While Mathurin holds the best trade value, since he is a solid player still on his rookie contract, shedding Toppin's salary would allow for more flexibility for the Pacers and, depending on the deal they make, could get them back under the luxury tax after they re-sign Myles Turner.

Walker, it seems, is the most expendable. He is buried behind Pascal Siakam, Aaron Nesmith, and Toppin on the Pacers' depth chart and hasn't really been given a chance to develop, although he would fetch the smallest return in a trade.
While the Pacers' offseason has only been 48 hours long, they are already the subject of rumors, and Scotto's report was backed up by ESPN insider Brian Windhorst.
In the East, the New York Knicks, Cleveland Cavaliers, Orlando Magic, and even Detroit Pistons could have a better regular season than the Pacers, although every team, aside from the Magic, still has the means to make a win-now or future-driven move.

The Pacers do not have a first-round pick in this year's draft, so they don't have to act with the same urgency as teams looking to find a stud on Wednesday, but expect Indiana to, at the very least, be a team to watch.

Bears HC Ben Johnson shares thoughts on Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel
Being a coach in the NFL, as Chicago Bears fans know well, is a tough job. When you have a significant amount of success, you are beloved. When you only have a little bit of success or anything below that, you are expected to be fired. That may be the case for Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel. He hails from the Kyle Shanahan coaching tree, so you know he's a smart cookie. However, the Dolphins may have a tough season due to their roster construction deteriorating over the years. When the team has been good, McDaniel has gotten them into the playoffs. A lot of that has been dependent on quarterback Tua Tagovailoa's health, which has been spotty recently due to concussions. It's unfair to use the preseason as a measure for regular season success, Miami faces a tall order in the AFC East featuring the perennial division champion Buffalo Bills, a a resurgent New England Patriots team, and a hopeful New York Jets team, there is a scenario where the Dolphins come in last. Bears head coach Ben Johnson doesn't have that kind of pressure on him right now. There's pressure to win, but his seat is far from hot in his first season. Johnson should have a large runway of time as he tries to turn the franchise around after so many lousy years. Following the Bears and Dolphins' preseason tie last Sunday, Johnson was asked about McDaniel and showered the veteran coach with praise. 'I've always respected him from afar," Johnson said. "When he was in San Francisco to now Miami, some of the stuff, in particular the run game, it's next level. There's no one else that does it quite like he does. He finds a way to find space to the inside and perimeter runs. He can gash teams that way. He is a little bit of that mad scientist. There's a lot of respect there just from a schematic standpoint. I know they've got a good one there. When (Dolphins QB) Tua's (Tagovailoa) been healthy, they've been rolling, and they've been a playoff team really for all three years. I think he does a great job with that crew and I'm looking forward to our relationship continuing to grow.' That's some high praise for Johnson. He complimented McDaniel's offensive genius, which is saying something considering Johnson's resume as an offensive mind. College Football Left Clemson Behind. So Clemson Revolutionized College Football.
In today's college football, where players change teams as often as they take a shower, standing pat means you're falling behind. Every offseason, the country's best teams frantically restock their rosters, poaching a star quarterback or receiver from a rival school because someone else is trying to poach theirs. This coast-to-coast game of musical chairs is simply the cost of competing for championships in college football's transfer-portal era.
