Man Denies Causing Crash That Killed Parents And Son In Saar
A man accused of causing the deaths of a Bahraini couple and their son in a high-speed crash while under the influence of drink and drugs has denied all eight charges brought against him.
The case, now before the Lower Criminal Court, concerns a fatal collision in Saar that left three dead and two children with severe injuries. One of the children later died in hospital.
Prosecutors say the defendant was behind the wheel after consuming both narcotics and alcohol, and was travelling well above the speed limit when he veered into the opposite lane and struck the victims' car head-on.
The charges include driving while impaired, causing death through careless driving, endangering life, damaging property, and reckless overtaking.
He is also accused of driving in the wrong direction, ignoring road signs, and exceeding the speed limit by more than 30 per cent.
According to the Public Prosecution, the man lost control of his vehicle due to intoxication, crossed into the opposite lane, and collided with a family car, killing the parents on the spot.
Their three children were taken to hospital, and one did not survive.
The Public Prosecution received the report and launched an immediate investigation. The suspect was questioned and presented with the evidence against him.
Custody Prosecutors ordered that he remain in custody pending trial. The case was referred to court following the completion of inquiries. A hearing was scheduled for 23 June 2025.

Lawyer loses appeal over forged debt claim
A forged debt claim by a lawyer against his former client has ended in a prison sentence and the loss of the falsified document, after the Court of Cassation upheld the lower rulings. The lawyer was convicted of faking a debt acknowledgment for BD1,000 and attributing it to his client, claiming the money was a loan. Prosecutors said he forged the signature on the document, knew it was false, and then used it to claim money that had originally been entrusted to him in his legal role. The funds had been given to him to handle the client's case against a previous employer. The Lower Criminal Court sentenced him to one year in prison for all connected charges, set bail at BD100 to suspend the sentence, and ordered the forged document to be seized. The lawyer appealed, and the High Criminal Court of Appeal reduced the sentence to six months after acquitting him of embezzling the client's money.
