KUALA LUMPUR, May 11 — Ten individuals aged between 17 and 31 have been remanded for four days starting today to assist investigations into the assault of a Form Five student in Paroi, Seremban early Friday morning.
Seremban district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Hatta Che Din said the remand order was obtained from the Seremban Magistrates' Court after all suspects were arrested yesterday.
'The remand, which lasts until Wednesday, is to facilitate the investigation. No new arrests have been made as of noon today, but efforts to track down other suspects are ongoing.
'We urge witnesses or anyone with information to come forward and assist with the investigation,' he said in a statement today.
He also reminded the public not to circulate images or videos of the incident on social media, as doing so could interfere with the investigation and prosecution process.
Earlier, videos and photos of the bloodied victim went viral, believed to have been attacked by a group of men.
The incident reportedly occurred around 3am Friday, allegedly triggered by a misunderstanding when one of the suspects believed the victim had harmed his younger brother.
A police report was lodged by the victim's father.
The case is being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting.

The Change Company Secures $94 Million Judgement

ANAHEIM, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Change Company CDFI, LLC ('The Change Company') announced today that it was awarded judgment from a state court in New York for over $94 million from Yeti Global Services ('YGS'). Former employee of The Change Company, Adam Levine, formed YGS and is its sole owner. The complaint filed by The Change Company alleged that YGS received documents stolen by Mr. Levine from The Change Company and facilitated Mr. Levine's scheme to extort The Change Company by planting damaging stories about The Change Company. "Proceeds collected from this judgement will be utilized by The Change Company to further The Change Company's CDFI mission of financing homeownership for underbanked Americans." Share Steven Sugarman, the CEO of The Change Company, stated: 'We thank the court for its careful evaluation of the facts which led to this massive judgement in favor of The Change Company. While the damage done by Adam Levine cannot be fully remediated, this is a great first step to secure justice for The Change Company. Proceeds collected from this judgement will be utilized by The Change Company to further The Change Company's CDFI mission of financing homeownership for underbanked Americans.' The Change Company, who was represented by Sanford Michelman, Jared Foley, and Samantha Drysdale of the law firm Michelman & Robinson, will pursue the collection of its judgement against YGS. In its Motion for Default Judgment, the Change Company alleged that '[YGS] facilitated Mr. Levine's extortion schemes by accepting confidential documents and information stolen by Mr. Levine and allowing Mr. Levine to store the illegally obtained information on a cloud storage system that Defendant used for its own business… [YGS] also disseminated falsified and doctored [The Change Company's] documents – documents that Mr. Levine himself manufactured – to the news and media and represented the same to be true… Both internal and external investigations performed by diligence firms hired by [The Change Company], at great cost and expense, due to [YGS's] and Levine's smear campaign demonstrated that the document was both manipulated and false.' As part of his scheme, Mr. Levine was alleged to have threatened to make false claims of wrongdoing against The Change Company to government agencies. All known investigations into The Change Company and its affiliates relating to Adam Levine have been closed with no adverse findings. Mr. Levine, who was arrested in 2023 for impersonating an officer (Penal Code Section 538d(c)) and unlawful use of badge (Penal Code Section 538d(b)(2)), is also alleged to have previously threatened his prior employer TPG. In or around 2015, TPG filed suit against Mr. Levine alleging he made 'an escalating series of threats against TPG and its personnel, including that he would disclose sensitive and proprietary information to the media and that he would seek to plant damaging stories that would cause substantial harm to TPG and its business.' In connection with this lawsuit, Mr. Levine was ordered by a Texas court to return TPG's confidential documents and identify to whom he has disclosed TPG's confidential information. Police shoot dead armed suspect in Bayan Lepas; arrest eight others tied to 25 robberies across Penang

GEORGE TOWN, May 15 — A 35-year-old man was shot dead by police early this morning after he opened fire at officers during a crime prevention operation in Bayan Lepas, Penang. Penang police chief Datuk Hamzah Ahmad said the incident occurred at about 4.05am when officers approached a car parked along Lintang Bukit Jambul. 'Officers from the Criminal Investigation Department were on patrol when they noticed the vehicle and moved in to conduct a check,' he said in a statement. Hamzah said the officers identified themselves, but the man suddenly exited the vehicle and fired at them. 'The police returned fire in self-defence,' he said, adding that the suspect was killed at the scene. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered a pistol with three rounds of ammunition, an iron rod, two rattan sticks, two machetes, 15 packets of suspected methamphetamine weighing about 22.5g, a signal jammer, and various tools and clothing believed to be used in housebreaking activities. Hamzah said the deceased was believed to be a Malaysian with prior records for 19 criminal and 15 drug-related offences. Following the incident, police arrested seven men and one woman in connection with the case. All eight are believed to have been involved in criminal activities with the deceased. 'Four of the suspects have prior criminal records, while the remaining four do not,' he said. With the arrests, police believe they have solved 25 cases of robbery, housebreaking and laundromat break-ins around Penang, involving estimated losses of approximately RM500,000. The case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder, which carries a jail term of up to 20 years, and Section 8 of the Firearms Act 1960, which provides for a maximum sentence of seven years' imprisonment.

Real Madrid's Raul Asencio could face criminal proceedings for allegedly sharing sex tape of a minor

Real Madrid defender Raul Asencio could face criminal proceedings for allegedly sharing a sex tape involving a minor. On Wednesday, the San Bartolome de Tirajana court in Gran Canaria confirmed an investigation into the allegations had concluded and that four footballers, including Asencio could face criminal proceedings for allegedly recording and distributing videos of sexual content of a minor and one other woman. Advertisement The 22-year-old was named in the starting XI for Madrid's La Liga game against Mallorca and the statement from the court came before kick-off in the game at the Bernabeu. The case relates to an alleged incident at a beach club in the south of the Spanish island in 2023. The three other players (Ferran Ruiz, Juan Rodriguez, and Andres Garcia) were arrested in September 2023. After Asencio was called to give testimony as a witness, he then became part of the Guardia Civil (Civil Guard, Spanish law enforcement) investigation. At that point, the club said 'a Castilla player and three Real Madrid C players' had made statements to the Guardia Civil 'relating to a complaint about the alleged broadcasting of a private video via WhatsApp'. 'When the club has detailed knowledge of the facts, we will take the appropriate measures,' it added. The Athletic reported in February that a Spanish court rejected an appeal on behalf of Asencio for the provisional dismissal of the case. Court documents during that appeal confirmed that one of the women was under the age of 16 when the incident took place. The statement by the court on Wednesday stated the investigation had concluded. In a document in Spanish, which has been translated, it said it 'qualifies (the players') actions as allegedly constitutive of crimes of discovery of secrets without consent and violation of privacy (article 197.1 of the Penal Code), of distribution and sending to third parties of the videos without warning the victims or their consent (article 197.3) and of recruitment or use of minors for pornographic purposes and possession of the videos without their consent (article 197.4) and of possession of the videos without the consent of the victims (article 197.4)'. The case has now been sent to the Public Prosecutor's Office, which can file an indictment and request the opening of a trial against the players or request the case to be closed. This decision is then subject to appeal. Advertisement Asencio has made 21 La Liga appearances for Madrid this season while Ruiz, Rodriguez and Garcia, former youth team-mates of Asencio all left the club last summer. Ruiz moved to Girona and the club's sporting director, Quique Carcel, said in November, 'I respect the presumption of innocence,' in relation to the investigation. Rodriguez and Garcia joined teams in Spain's third division (Tarazona and Alcorcon). Both Real Madrid and Asencio's representatives declined to comment. ()
