Pranjanchai keen to settle unfinished ONE business with Jon Di Bella
Prajanchai PK Saenchai added another special moment to a life filled with many, landing a savage strike to finish Ellis Barboza in round four of their ONE Fight Night 28 bout on Saturday.
It was win number 344 in a storied career – and such was the ferocity of the elbow that brought his British opponent's evening to a crashing halt, it earned the ONE strawweight Muay Thai and kickboxing champion a US$100,000 double bonus.
Prajanchai is ruthless in close quarters, and following three rounds of high-level, technical action, the 30-year-old found the kill shot he immediately knew had ended proceedings. The blood dripping from Barboza's head was a stark indicator the fight was over, something quickly confirmed by the ringside medial team.
'He had his punches, and I had my elbows, so we had to see which was best,' Prajanchai told the Post.
The night began with a first-round knockout win for Aliff Rakib, and the half-Malaysian, half-Thai contender has made no secret of wanting a title shot.
'Aliff could be a worthy contender,' Prajanchai said. 'But I don't want to seem like I'm calling him out. It's up to ONE Championship.'

It was not a great morning for ONE Championship's young wannabes in Bangkok on Saturday. Johan Estupinan had blitzed his way into the organisation as a born entertainer, complete with flamboyant dance moves, backflips, agile kicks and, most importantly, five straight wins. And then, at ONE Fight Night 32, the Colombian ran into his biggest test yet – Taiki Naito, who sent a timely reminder to his doubters having lost his past two contests. Still ranked No 3 in the promotion's flyweight kickboxing division, Naito lived up to his 'silent sniper' nickname in this Muay Thai clash, showcasing some excellent counter-striking and dropping Estupinan with a sharp left hook in round two. That shot proved to be the difference-maker, and the Japanese striker took a majority decision, extending his record to 37 wins and 14 defeats. The former England football captain is set to be named in the King's Birthday Honours List, according to sources. Other sporting figures who have been awarded the title include Beckham's former manager at Manchester United, Alex Ferguson, and British tennis great Andy Murray. The Sun newspaper said he would take the title of "Sir" and his wife, Victoria, a former member of the Spice Girls pop group, will be known as Lady Beckham. Beckham played 115 times for England as well as for a list of high-profile clubs, including United and Real Madrid. He is currently the president and co-owner of the US team Inter Miami and co-owner of Salford City, who play in the fourth tier of English football. The 50-year-old, who has long been in the running for a knighthood, was appointed an officer of the Order of the British Empire in 2003 – a lower award in Britain's honours system. Victoria later received the same award for services to the fashion industry. David Beckham was last month named in Time Magazine's list of the 100 most influential leaders in philanthropy. He is an official ambassador for The King's Foundation, supporting its education programmes and "efforts to ensure young people have a greater understanding of nature" and has been a Unicef goodwill ambassador since 2005.
