CAPE TOWN - Border Management Authority (BMA) operations at the Cape Town International Airport (CTIA) have received a boost with the deployment of 25 interns from a Western Cape government internship initiative. The First Work Experience- Premier's Advancement of Youth (PAY) is designed to provide matriculants with work experience and skills development.
The CTIA is one of South Africa's busiest ports of entry.

Air France to introduce daily seasonal route to Cape Town
Air France, flag carrier for France, will be operating daily flights to and from Cape Town this year. As reported by Travel News , for the 2025/26 southern summer, Air France will fly seven days a week between Cape Town International Airport (CPT) and Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG). These daily flights will offer passengers seamless travel between Cape Town and Paris, providing access to one of the most iconic cities in Europe, and from there, connecting to Air France's global network. Between 15 December 2025 and 12 January 2026, Air France will fly daily to the Mother City according to the following schedule: Daily flight AF0871 will depart Cape Town at 08:50 and arrive in Paris at 19:20. The daily return flight AF0890 will then depart Paris at 18:30 and arrive in Cape Town at 06:45 the following day. 'For our South African travellers, this expansion provides far more choices and options for your journeys to Europe and the Americas,' Wilson Tauro, Air France-KLM Country Manager for Southern Africa, said as per Travel News . JOHANNESBURG - South Africa's Border Management Authority has gone hi-tech. Its use of drones and advanced surveillance systems has doubled interceptions of illegal movements, across the country's ports of entry, during the Easter long weekend. And this deployment at 71 border posts, is easily their most extensive operation. With cross-border movement up by 8 percent, the BMA warns that only constant innovation, can help them keep pace with the shifting dynamics at South Africa's ports of entry. Even as arrests increase, the BMA says drones alone are not enough to secure the country's borders.
