DIPA, Vodafone Idea team up to drive green energy adoption in telecom sector

Digital Infrastructure Providers Association
(
DIPA
), a grouping of IP-1 vendors, and
Vodafone Idea
(Vi) on Friday said they have entered into a collaboration to implement
green energy solutions
in the industry, and drive clean energy adoption throughout the network infrastructure sector.
The key areas of collaboration include driving the implementation of the green energy open access (GEOA); development of sustainable infrastructure; integration of
clean energy technology
solutions in towers, data centers, and network facilities; and driving sector-wide adoption of green initiatives and carbon reduction strategies
'This collaboration with Vodafone Idea marks a pivotal moment in our industry's commitment to environmental sustainability. As DIPA continues its extensive work toward our zero-carbon mission, this partnership will accelerate the adoption of green energy solutions across India's
digital infrastructure
ecosystem,' said Manoj Kumar Singh, director-general, DIPA.

Our partnership with DIPA aligns perfectly with our environmental goals and reinforces our dedication to responsible business practices,' said Ambika Khurana, chief regulatory & corporate affairs officer, Vodafone Idea and director, Vi Foundation.
The partnership comes at a crucial time when the telecom sector is experiencing unprecedented growth, with increasing demand for digital connectivity driving infrastructure expansion across urban and rural markets.
The partnership will also focus on knowledge sharing, capacity building, and creating awareness about the benefits of sustainable telecom infrastructure among industry stakeholders, policymakers, and the broader ecosystem.

Vodafone Idea (Vi) has rolled out a new postpaid offering, the Vi Max Family Plan, aimed at families seeking comprehensive connectivity and entertainment in one package. Priced at ₹ 871 per month, the plan includes two mobile connections, one primary and one secondary, alongside a suite of digital and travel benefits. A key highlight of the plan is the complimentary Netflix Basic subscription, available exclusively to the primary user. Additionally, subscribers can enjoy access to other OTT platforms, with a combined monthly data allowance of 120GB. Of this, 70GB is allocated to the primary user, 40GB to the secondary user, and 10GB is shared data. The plan supports data rollover of up to 400GB—200GB for each user and includes unlimited data usage during nighttime hours (12am to 6am). Users will also benefit from unlimited local, STD, and national roaming calls, along with 3,000 free SMS per month. Vi has included its 'Choice' benefits as part of the new plan. Subscribers can opt for one entertainment subscription, choosing from platforms such as Amazon Prime, Disney+ Hotstar, SonyLIV, and Fancode, accessible via the Vi Movies & TV app. In addition, users may select between a year-long subscription to Norton Mobile Security or the EaseMyTrip Travel Benefit, which offers exclusive discounts on flight bookings. The company has also made the plan flexible, allowing users to add up to six additional secondary members at ₹ 299 per person. Each of these users will receive 40GB of data and the same unlimited calling benefits. The plan includes unlimited 5G connectivity, currently available in select Indian cities such as Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Patna, Chandigarh, and Bengaluru. Vi said in a statement that the plan is designed to cater to the growing digital consumption needs of Indian families, while also offering the freedom to customise benefits based on individual preferences. With increasing competition in the telecom sector, Vi's latest move is seen as a strategic attempt to attract premium postpaid users looking for bundled entertainment and travel perks, while offering robust 5G connectivity.

Vi has announced a new postpaid plan — Vi Max Family Plan — offering bundled access to OTT platforms along with internet data. The plan is priced at Rs 871 and includes two connections: one primary and one secondary. As part of this plan, Vi will offer a Netflix Basic subscription as a fixed monthly benefit. Customers can stream content on one device, either mobile or TV. Vi says users will also have access to content from 18 additional OTT platforms through the Vi Movies & TV platform. This includes shows, movies, and live events such as WWE. Vi Max Family Plan benefits Vi Max Family plan offers 120GB of shared data — 70GB for the primary user, 40GB for the secondary, and 10GB shared — along with unlimited night data between 12 am and 6 am. Vi says users can roll over up to 400GB unused data, with 200GB per member. The plan has a validity of 28 days. The new plan supports 5G data in locations where Vi has rolled out the service, including Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Patna, Chandigarh, and Bengaluru. The company says it aims to expand 5G in all 17 priority circles by August 2025. Vi has also included its 'Choice' feature with this plan, allowing customers to select from options across entertainment and travel. In the entertainment category, choices include Amazon Prime, SonyLIV, JioHotstar, or bundled access to 17 OTTs. In the travel and security category, options include a 12-month Norton Mobile Security subscription or travel discounts via EaseMyTrip.
