It's been a rough start to the 2025 season for the Chicago Sky. Through seven games, the Sky have managed just two wins. Their latest outing, a home game against the Indiana Fever at the United Center, ended in a disappointing offensive performance with just 52 points scored.

Adding to their struggles, the team received devastating news about one of its top players. On Sunday evening, the Sky announced they will be down one of their top players for the rest of the 2025 season.
"Courtney Vandersloot underwent an MRI yesterday that revealed a torn right anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), an injury she sustained in the June 7th game against Indiana. Vandersloot will miss the remainder of the 2025 WNBA season and undergo surgery to repair the injury. All of Skytown is behind you, Sloot!" the team said in a statement.
With Vandersloot out, the franchise is now forced to evaluate long-term options to fill the void on the roster. One name that quickly surfaced is former Sky guard Chennedy Carter.

Shortly after the news broke, Carter posted a pointed message on her Threads account.
"When the universe gives you signs you pay attention! What goes around always comes back around. When you have ugly in your heart the outcome will always backfire 🅿️🫵🏽Just wanna say pay attention to the universe. it's speaking to us 🏁."

Chennedy Carter was drafted fourth overall in the 2020 WNBA Draft by the Atlanta Dream after a standout college career at Texas A&M. She later joined the Chicago Sky, where she played the best basketball of her pro career.
During her lone season with the Sky, Carter appeared in 33 games and started 20. She posted career-highs across the board, averaging 17.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game.

After her WNBA stint, Carter signed with Wuhan Shengfan for the 2024-25 season and absolutely dominated. She led the league in scoring, averaging 31.4 points per game, including a monster 44-point outing. She scored her highest points in a game in November 2023 when she put up 51 points.
She also recorded the league's first triple-double of the season, putting up 33 points, 17 rebounds and 10 assists in a single game.
Following her MVP season, Carter signed with Adelitas de Chihuahua, a Mexican League team.
Now, with a roster spot open and Carter making noise on social media, the Sky may have an interesting decision to make. Whether a reunion is in the cards remains to be seen, but Carter has certainly made it clear, she's paying attention.

Drake Maye: Stefon Diggs seems like an awesome teammate

The Patriots added Stefon Diggs this offseason with the thought that the veteran receiver will help elevate an offense quarterbacked by Drake Maye. While Diggs is still recovering from tearing his ACL midway through the 2024 season, he's been in the building and has done some on-field work over the last couple of weeks. Maye said on Monday that the budding partnership between QB and WR is going well. 'Yeah, he seems like an awesome teammate,' Maye said in his press conference, via transcript from the team. 'He's my locker mate, one down from beside me. We talk all the time. He's a veteran in this league. He's made a lot of plays, played in a lot of big-time games. Just an awesome voice for the receiver room, for this offense. He's played in some playoff games. He's had some big games. 'Once he recovers, and he's getting back out there, I'm looking forward to being able to throw him some footballs. It's always good having a guy like that on your team.' Maye added that he's been able to see some of Diggs' work ethic in action. 'In the meetings, [he's] asking questions, asking me after plays, 'Hey, what should I have done there? Hey, in the past, I've done this when the guy's playing this leverage,' stuff like that,' Maye said. 'He's seen a lot of different things, played a long time in this league. It's been great for me. A veteran receiver, him, Mack [Hollins], Kendrick Bourne. We got three, not really old heads, but old heads in their 30s. It's been awesome for us to find how they lead the room and help this offense.' Last season, Diggs caught 47 passes for 496 yards with three touchdowns in eight games for Houston.

Caitlin Clark will miss 5th game with quad strain but could soon start ‘ramping back up'

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Caitlin Clark will sit out a fifth consecutive game with a quadriceps strain when Indiana visits Atlanta on Tuesday, shifting the focus to whether the Fever star will return against the WNBA champion New York Liberty. Indiana coach Stephanie White stopped short Monday of saying Clark had been cleared for basketball activities, saying the club was ready for the reigning Rookie of the Year to start 'ramping back up.' The Fever initially said Clark would miss at least two weeks , and it has been 16 days since Clark was injured in a 90-88 loss to the Liberty . She finished the game, saying later adrenaline likely allowed her to play with the strain. Clark told reporters last week she was targeting a Tuesday return, but said she wouldn't rush it. White reiterated the patience part Monday. The rematch with the Liberty isn't until Saturday at home, which should give Clark some decent practice time. 'We're going to be smart, and we're going to be cautious and we're going to play the long game and work her back in very intentionally,' White said. Clark is averaging 19 points, 9.3 assists and six rebounds in four games this season. This is the first time in her college or pro career that she's missed games. She averaged 19.2 points and a WNBA-leading 8.4 assists as a rookie. The Fever are also without guard Sophie Cunningham, who has been limited to four games by ankle injury. White ruled out Cunningham against the Dream. ___ AP WNBA:
